Really enjoyed the home and the views. Some of the amenities were missing or being worked on during our stay and we were not notified prior to our arrival. The dock was non existent until the day before we left as they were rebuilding it (was looking forward to doing some fishing from it), no fish or bait table, outdoor ceiling fan was broken, front door handle was broken, tree service was doing tree trimming one full afternoon/evening on right in front of our deck on the beach. Owner of property was there and was great to visit with and full of great information. I messaged Vacasa a couple of days prior to our 1800 mile trip to make sure everything was in order and recieved a "yes it is and you can't get a refund" response. Still had a great time and will be back.
The views fishing and the house is stocked with everything you need
To cook
You can snorkel right of the beach and
See turtles, manatee and fish
We will be back next year!
We had very high expectations of a gorgeous clean private beach. The edge beach was littered with sea trash. Asked if rakes were available and told no. That the owner cleans every couple days, which is false, it looked like it had been quite some time since last cleaning. We were there from Friday to Wednesday and paid a good price which included service fees of $350+. Not sure what the service fees are for. We had to provide own toilet paper, paper towels and garbage bags. Privacy was good. Kayaks, only 2 could be used because they were the only 2 with seats. The actual house was fair. It was clean. Definitely could use some TLC. We did spend most of our time on deck which was very nice.
The private little beach and dock are the best in the keys .
Great fishing at night and great views and fun to snorkel.
Its been my favorite vacation spot for awhile. Ill be back next year!
My family and I loved every day at this house. It was quiet and relaxing! Everything you need was there and stocked! The beds were comfortable, the kids even loved the pull out couch. We would definitely return to the Zane Grey!
We had the best time at this beach house! The house was equipped with all that we needed! It was sooo convenient to be able to wash and dry our clothes on site! The hammock and seating areas were awesome! We loved having the ocean within a few steps from the back door! Our 3 and 1 year old had the best time! We loved Layton/Long Key, because it was centrally located and we could travel to all of the different areas in the Keys. It was such a quiet area. The house comes with kayak use, so we enjoyed using those! If you have a small family, STAY HERE! We will be back!
Such an amazing place. Has everything you need and want. We brought our dog and he had the best time. You can watch the sunrise and the sunset from this house. This place has a lot of history that we learned about from the neighbor which made it even better. My son and his girlfriend kayaked, fished off the dock and caught some sharks. Great restaurants not far from the location. We will be back to this slice of heaven.....Over and over again.
This house has EVERYTHING!!!! The kayaks were fun, the snorkeling was AMAZING, the fish were biting (not many keepers) and the view was unbelievable! We stayed 5 days and enjoyed every single day! There were turtles, manatee, shark, and stingray all out by the dock. We only spent money on groceries and bait. We have a 21 yr old mentally and physically handicapped daughter that could lay in the shallow water with us or hang out On the Patio while we fished. The place was exactly what we needed. IT WAS HEAVEN!!! We will be back.
We had an amazing summer trip to this lovely beach house. The house was cozy and comfortable, but having access to your own private beach was the best! We were worried about the hurricane, but luckily, we just missed it. Perfect place unwind, unplug and enjoy the scenery. Get in the water and enjoy with some water-sports. Would definitely return with friends or family.
We stayed in this house on our fourth trip to the Florida Keys. We travel down each winter with our 3 kids for a respite from the New England winters. I can say, without a doubt, that this spot is beyond special. With a lack of beaches in the keys, having your own private sandy spot in these crystal clear waters was paradise. We fished off the dock, saw dolphins feeding right off shore, a shy nurse shark and endless other creatures. We kayaked and searched for sea treasures. Dinners on the wonderful deck were a highlight at the end of our days. There is a tiki hut on the beach and another built onto the deck which provided lots of shade and a wonderful respite from the sun. The tiki huts and deck all seem brand new and in fantastic condition. There is a grill for your use which also seemed new and worked great. We used it almost everyday. The house itself is just what you need. The only thing I can say about it is that maybe it could have been a little cleaner and the mattress on the sofa bed could use replacing. Since we have young children, who needed to be in bedrooms, my husband and I slept on it every night and it was a bit of an adventure! The beds however were extremely comfortable.
We sadly had a glitch with the management of the property and Vacasa itself. We stayed for 5 days and before departing for our trip down to the keys, we got an email which stated items like shampoo, body soap, etc would be provided for our stay. When we arrived there was only 1 small bottle of shampoo and conditioner, no body soap and not quite enough toilet paper left for 5 people. I called Vacasa to request more but in 24 hours no one came. I then found a number for the local property manager who informed me that they just leave enough to get you by for a day or two (this absolutely needs to be stated in the email before you arrive) but she assured me that either herself or the housekeeper would be by with more. No one ever came. We finally took the 1 hour round trip to the grocery store on day 3 to buy supplies so we could shower and use the bathroom. Lastly, we left some valuable fishing reels at the property and my email to Vacasa about returning them to us has still not been answered. It was a frustrating experience, one we have never had with places before when renting down here.
Overall, the house itself is just what you need and you will love this incredible spot on the keys!
2.5 Stars. Really too many concerns to list here. Worst part was how the property manager tried to deflect all our concerns and tried to twist them into somehow being our fault!
This property was as described and perfectly met our needs for a keys vacation in July. We could not have enjoyed ourselves more and especially liked the dock access, kayaks and free to use beach gear. Centrally located with easy access to marathon and islamorada.
Location is the best part of this place. Perfect for just gazing at the water. House is well equipped. Marathon & Islamorada are equal distance to go to town. Beach gets seagrass deposit every high tide, but a quick rake as the tide is running clears it up pretty well. Though I prefer a separate house to duplex like this, not much noise from neighbors. There was sufficient room on the beach and decks to have your own space.
We rented a 19 ft skiff for a week from Seabird Marina (good folks there). Water is thin, so approach parallel to shore from bridge. Tie up to dock and mooring so it will not swing into dock in current. Water between house and adjacent condos has a spot full of lobsters, but did not find much more snorkeling there.
Outdoor area was absolutely beautiful! The tiki huts provided excellent shade and the kayaks and paddle boards made for fun adventures in addition to swimming. However, I didnât like how the beach was not cleaned prior to our arrival and there were trash and toys scattered about. The inside cleanliness was absolutely appalling. Queen sheets were placed on a king bed, the mattress pad was horribly stained, the closet doors were off their hinges and leaned up against the wall which is a safety hazard. There were several other issues with the cleaning but I donât want to belabor my point. My husband found a bra and a dirty pair of socks in the corner of the master bedroom which was off-putting. But, we enjoyed this home because we spent our time outside but I am questioning what the steep cleaning fees are actually going towards because the home was far from clean and maintained and finding others intimate garmets and having soiled linens are simply unacceptable.
A little peace of paradise & the most relaxing vacation Iâve had in a long time. I would definitely rent this property again!
Quiet , private beach right off the spacious deck with Amazing views & a private dock. Beautiful, large Tiki huts shade the beach & part of the deck. Plus umbrella table w/plenty of chairs on the deck. Plenty of privacy as the laundry room separates the 2 decks & also holds fishing poles, life vests, extra beach umbrellas, noodles etc., for your use!
Kayaks & paddle boards also for your use.
Water is very clear & shallow quite a ways out but deep enough to swim in parts.
Beach was well maintained- seaweed did come in w/the tide but wasnât problematic.
Great for kids, dogs, newlyweds, families, boaters, fishing! Boat dock has a fish cleaning station & you could dock a boat there easily.
You can see the bridge from this property & even kayak under it.
Inside was clean , plenty of linens (bath, bedding, beach towels, pillows, ) , appliances nice, ample dishes-pots-drinkware, shower good size, 2 bedrooms good size.
To be honest, the closet doors could be updated or fixed (kept coming off track) and blinds on the bedroom windows need to be replaced (hard to open for light) but that was all I found wrong- both easy fixes!
There was a small issue with the kitchen sink leaking but I made a call late night call & it was fixed the next morning.
None of those âsmallâ issues would keep my from renting here again!!!
Great parking, pull out of the drive - left over the bridge takes you to Marathon & make a right , its short ride to Islamorada!
Being in the middle, it wonât take too long to get to Key Largo, Key West or any Key in-between! We went snorkeling, the turtle hospital is a must & spent a day in Key West. Also did some fishing, kayaking almost every day & drove to several restaurants for amazing dinners.
You can still experience the fun of the Keys but If you want quiet to come back to âeasy mornings & peaceful star lit skies, post card views & down timeâ this IS the place!
