Our party of 6 from Colorado, Vancouver and the UK were thoroughly enchanted and enthralled at this house in the hills of Tuscany. Rich in collectibles from all over the world, the house is full of multi-level surprises. Fabulous garden and pool. The owners (John and Zaiby) were immensely gracious in providing us with local history and guidance for a maximum regional experience.
Villa Villenia exceeded our already high expectations when we chose this property for a special family holiday. It proved to be an ideal base for exploring the Garfagnana, Lucca and is only 40 minutes from the beach resort of Viraggio.
The villa has many spacious rooms and is well equipped to easily accommodate 10 people. The pool and terrace were very popular with all of our party and the kitchen dining area was used for most of our evening meals rather than the formal dining room.
It was always a delight to return from our explorations to this lovely villa.
Communication with the owner was cordial and very helpful, his responses to our myriad questions were prompt, friendly and fully answered our enquiries.
The location of this villa is ideal for those who are seeking to get away from it all. Fabulous!

Hallo, Villa Villenia is the home of Zaibby and John Reading. We bought it in 2002 and took a bit over a year to convert it to how we wanted it. We both loved Italy of all the European countries and Lucca was a favourite city. It also helped that there was an airport with budget airlines nearby. We are at the house pretty much every month, in between lettings and then more in autumn and spring. We have lots of (Italian) friends locally which makes it feel very friendly. There are many festivals in the area which we join in. You can too. We have travelled a lot so there are art works and other things from China, India, Tanzania and other countries in the house. Hope you like them.
We started looking in 2000 mainly around Verona, Siena and Lucca. We focussed on Lucca because its a wonderful walled city and because of the closeness of Pisa airport. We must have visited 20 properties before we found this house. The house is in the Garfagnana national park so a beautiful setting with good walking and skiing further north. It's about 600 ms above sea level on the side of a valley so gets nice fresh breezes when it's scorching in the valley. It's set in a small rural village, vineyards, fruit trees, a small church but close to the various facilities and Lucca itself.
This is a large house full of surprises, rooms on different levels, rooms where you don't expect them, lots of murals. I doubt there are many houses with as much character and at the same time so much room and all contemporary facilities. The house is in a real sun spot and so we've had lunch outside even in December. One of our great pleasures is sitting on the balcony with a glass or two of prosecco as the sun goes down over the mountains.
