Casa a Corte est une magnifique propriété d'origine romaine qui se trouve près du hameau de Gugliano. Elle a été restaurée. La maison est entourée d'oliveraies, de vignobles, d'arbres fruitiers, d'un terrain boisé comprenant des marronniers ainsi que de sources de montagnes et offre un cadre des plus paisibles pour ceux qui désireraient se détendre dans un calme absolu. Cependant, la ville animée de Lucques n'est qu'à 15 minutes de voiture. Elle dispose de tout ce dont vous pourriez rêver : bons restaurants, boutiques, visites, tour de vélos autour des murs antiques pendant la 'passegiata' au coucher du soleil. La maison est bien située notamment pour visiter Florence et Sienne, les stations balnéaires et les magnifiques régions montagneuses de Garfagnana. La ferme est située dans un terrain privé de 30 acres consacré à la production de l'huile d'olive. Depuis les trois grandes terrasses et la piscine, vous pourrez profitez des vues spectaculaires des environs et entendre les cloches et les chorales des églises. Vous trouverez un jardin bien entretenu et une magnifique piscine ensoleillée tout au long de la journée.


3 terrasses, piscine et jardin : vous pourrez profiter du terrain extérieur ensoleillé toute la journée. Les jardins sont parfaits pour se détendre et pour que les enfants puissent jouer.
La maison est entourée de 3 terrasses : la terrasse côté est est accessible par la cuisine et la salle à manger et dispose d'une table en ardoise et de huit chaises. Une pergola avec du jasmin grimpant, des glycines et des fleurs de la passion tachetée de lumière. Vous pourrez apercevoir la piscine à travers des oliviers. La grande table en pierre est éclairée et permet de dîner au grand air. La grande terrasse côté sud avec son sol en terre cuite est idéal pour prendre un bain de soleil. Elle comprend un canapé trois places, deux fauteuils et une table. La terrasse côté ouest donne sur un magnifique jardin avec de la lavande, des rosiers, des mimosas et de figuiers. Vous y trouverez une table et des bancs. Toutes les terrasses offrent de magnifiques vues sur les vignobles et la vallée.

La région est très conservée et les amateurs de nature sauvage pourront apercevoir certaines espèces rares d'animaux et d'oiseaux. Pendant le printemps et l'été, la région abonde en fleurs sauvages.

Casa a Corte est apparue dans le programme TV Une maison en Toscane ainsi que dans plusieurs magazines.

Cuisinier toscan disponible sur demande avec un chef anglophone.

Vous trouverez la ville de Ponte A Moriano à 10 minutes en voiture : bars, banques, bureau de poste, traiteurs avec de très bons plats à emporter, glaciers, cafés, excellent boucher, joli marché avec du poisson, légumes locaux, miel de la région, champignons, huile d'olive, grand supermarché et un marchand de vins locaux.

Une délicieuse maison de famille au milieu des oliviers
Nous avons séjourné en famille dans cette chaleureuse et authentique maison de vacance familiale au milieu des collines, des champs d’Oliviers, en pleine nature dans un environnement préservé magnifique. La maison est joliment décorée, confortable et bien équipée. Les multiples terrasses meublées et la sublime piscine permettent de s’adapter aux différentes heures du jour. La maison est située à proximité de Florence et des Cinq Terres et permet de multiples excursions à la journée. L’attention et les conseils de visite et découvertes de son propriétaire sont tout à fait exceptionnels et ont sans aucun doute contribué à la qualité de notre séjour. Nous renouvellerons avec plaisir cette parenthèse enchantée en ce lieu au charme préservé.

Perfect house for a week off in Tuscany
We realy enjoyed our stay in this beautifull red house on the top of a Tuscany hill. The interior is very confortable, with the 3 bedrooms the living room on the first floor and the kitchen and dining area on the ground floor, but in fact we mostly leaved outside for a week, enjoying the 3 different terrace around the house, depending time of the day and sun. Having breakfast every morning on the east terrace was a pleasure. The pool area, with lots of olive trees and a fantastic view is delightfull at every moment of the day. It's a house you don't want to leave, which is conveniant because going in and out is a little bit long and complicated. It's the only thing we regret a little bit. You're at 15-20 minutes from the first village and half an hour from Lucca, and you must leave small roads and drive for 1/2 mile on a dirt path before you reach the house. So you don't take your car just for a cup of cofee in the village! The small town of Lucca is very chraming. the perfect size and not as crowdy as the big city stars of Tuscany. The owner, Hugh is very helpfull, sending lots of message before and during ou stay to explain things about the house and how to get there. And we found some bottles of Prosseco and local wine for us! I definitaly recommend Casa a Corte.

Dream stay
My family (mother in 70s, sister/spouse, husband plus 3 kids ages 4-10) stayed at Hugh's house for a little over 2 weeks. The weather did not cooperate as it was mostly cool and grey/rainy, but we savored every moment of the property and its location near Lucca and many major sights. Getting to and from the house is a little daunting at first as locals whiz along the 1-lane roads and the path becomes gravel towards the end, but after a couple days we got the hang of it. The house itself is very welcoming and so relaxing - views to the mountains dotted with villas, farmland and vineyards sprawling below, windows and Dutch doors that let in the breeze. Three patios let you soak it in from all directions. Despite the weather we were able to eat outside a fair bit and had Hugh's recommended private chef, Fabrizio, spoil us a couple nights during our stay. (Highly recommend!!) Kitchen was very well stocked; didn't want for anything when cooking. Fell in love with Lucca - a laid back old world city in the best sense. Beautiful wandering the streets and popping into restaurants and squares. Riding on the walls a must especially for the kids. We got to feel like it was home pretty quickly. The "unsung hero" of the trip was Hugh himself, though, who allowed us to begin settling in immediately without having to figure out too much on our own. The best (local) restaurants, shops, markets - everything you could wish for out of a tour guide. Super responsive and personable. I could go on.

10 beautiful days on the property
This is a magnificent property whose outdoor areas and panoramic views are unparalleled. We loved our stay and would absolutely return. The inside of the house has its charms and its peculiarities. We enjoyed the beautiful artwork, comfortable furniture, huge and heavenly bed, and fantastic wall of books. The kitchen was well stocked and organized for people like us who enjoy cooking. The glassware was thoughtful and plentiful. The Nespresso machine was broken. That said, there were two different sizes of manual espresso makers, so we pivoted. Also, would be nice to have some streaming services like Netflix. While there are two bathrooms, one on the first and third floor, there is no bathroom on the second floor with the master bedroom, which can be problematic for some. So, we either walked up or down some pretty harrowing stairs to reach a bathroom. We spent most of our time outdoors, which was heavenly. So many beautiful outdoor areas to enjoy. The pool is gorgeous and well maintained. Unheated, but once in, just lovely. We ate outdoors every day on the covered patio and sat on the side patio for aperitivi. So perfect! The location is ideal. We spent days in Lucca, Pistoia, and Garfagnana - all wonderful! And the local restaurants are heaven sent - every restaurant we visited was fantastic. All in all, a perfectly wonderful stay in a gorgeous home in a stunning part of Italy. We will be back!

Tuscan trip
Casa a Corte is a wonderful property a true Tuscan gem. House is cerfuly design with a simple but elegant touch. You will find everything you need from well equipped kitchen to washer in the downstairs buthroom. Our host, Hugh, shared with us a tons of information about the area restaurants, shoping and activities. You can have a great dinner at the local restaurant or have a private chef Fabrizio cook a traditional Tuscan dinner right in your kitchen. Make sure to visit local market, bakery or butcher where you can really feel small town hospitality, local people are always nice and helpful. I highy recommend Casa a Corte to anyone. Thank you Hugh for shering your wonderful home. Tom.

Casa A Corte
What a beautiful spot, with eight of us there was lots of room for us both inside and out. Had everything one needs to cook their own meal, including a bar-b-que. Pool was a god send on the hot days. Laundry also helped. Fans in each room were great. I would recommend staying at Casa A Corte to anyone for sure.

The most wonderful week!
For an energetic family of five, CasaCorte was fabulous. Located in the hills with breathtaking views, the house is ideally located for dinner in Lucca and daily excursions into the hills or to the beach. The owner, Hugh was extremely prompt at responding to all queries and is a fountain of knowledge and is only too keen to share it! He has brilliant recommendations and his network of the area is vast eg restaurants and activities. Equally, if you wanted to be by the pool all day, I can’t think of a lovelier spot! The house is well kitted with a great little kitchen (we ate lunch at the house most days). The bedrooms are a good size and very comfortable and the house is extremely clean. We highly recommend this wonderful gem in the Tuscan hills!

How can I begin to describe the most magical place, Casa a Corte? First, after a very short stay, 6 nights, we all realized it wasn’t enough time and we didn’t want to leave. There is so much to see and the property is a perfect location for many day trips: Lucca, San Gimignano, Pisa, Cinque Terre to only list a few. You enter the property surrounded by green rolling hills, orchards, olive groves and of course vineyards. We can’t forget the pool which we spent our evenings enjoying. We spent our time outside on the many patios with comfortable seating or just lounging next to the pool. The evenings were filled with a glass of wine out on the patio with family. It was perfect. Hugh, our host was fabulous. Providing every detail we needed for the property which included the history, hikes, short walks, and the fabulous chef, Fabrizio! Fabrizio is a must, he is a wonderful chef and became a friend to our family. Back to Hugh, anything you needed he was only an email away and he replied straight away. He kept us in the loop on local farmers markets, wine shopping, restaurants to visit,,,etc. Everything was perfect and wonderful. Thank you Hugh! PS, My recommendation, follow Hugh's direction to the villa. Once you get to the last picture he provides, keep heading on that road (it looks like a path, but it is a road), keep going you will see the house on the right! Place a pin on your location in case you need to share it will any drivers.

Amazing, relaxing stay in this idyllic farmhouse
1) The House - exactly as advertised - inside, a simply Tuscan house but nicely furnished. The kitchen has everything you would need. The host does a great job at ensuring you have the basics also - along with a few bottles of Prosecco on arrival! Outside - this is where you will spend all your time - we literally slept Inside and that’s it … the outside areas are perfect - numerous areas to sit depending on the time of day, and the pool was fantastic. 2) the area - Hugh does a great job at explaining the local surroundings - and the local town has everything you would need. It’s a 10 minute drive down some windy roads, but nothing difficult. Lucca is also beautiful and well worth a visit. 3) the Host - Hugh is the most communicative and attentive host I have ever worked with - he literally acts like your own personal tour guide, but without being overbearing … a truly special service, which helps you make the most out of the area. Take his restaurant recommendations too - the Antica is AMAZING! We couldn’t have wished for a better 5 day break with friends, and can’t wait to go back.

Idyllic beauty, peaceful surroundings, and great communication with the owner made for an unforgettable week. The pool and the well-stocked bookshelves, the array of outdoor seating, the very comfortable and authentic indoor accommodations made for a picture-perfect experience. Hugh’s suggestions for shops in the village of Ponte a Mariano on the valley floor were spot-on. A wonderful place to relax for a week and/or use as a base for many explorations.

Lovely escape from everyday life
We loved the beautiful views from the windows and all the outdoor spaces. The home had everything you might need. I do recommend picking up some groceries on the way to the house though. The beds and pillows were comfortable. Just wish we could have stayed longer .

Peaceful and Relaxing Country Home
Property was in good condition and everything worked well during our stay. Hugh the owner communicated a lot of information on the house and the local area around Lucca. He was very helpful. Had a little trouble finding the house using GPS. When we followed the owners directions we arrived. The roads to the house are narrow and require careful driving. Once there all was good. Enjoyed our stay and recommend this property to those who like being in the county in a nice home with a poll and great views, and only 15 to 20 minutes to great restaurants and a large Supermarket.

A truly magical place.
Hugh was such a gracious host and the house was every bit the Tuscan fantasy I thought it would be. You do need to navigate some twisty roads and gravelly drives to get there but once you’ve arrived, it will be hard to leave. A special thank you to Peirluigi and Angela for taking such good care of the house and grounds for us while we were there.

Fantastiskt hus i natursköna Toscana
Ett vackert och mysigt hus med ett mycket naturskönt läge, omgivet av vinodlingar och olivlundar. Vi tillbringade en oktobervecka i Casa a Corte. Vädret har varit ömsom soligt ömsom mer dramatiskt med storm, regn och åska - men det här är ett hus som man kan trivas i oavsett väder. Härifrån kan man åka på utflykter till Pisa, Lucca, Cinque Terre eller Florens, men också bara hänga hemma. Värden Hugh har varit fantastisk rakt igenom - med tips på restauranger, vandringar och utflyktsmål. Missa inte en middag på Antica Locanda.

Perfect Stay
We've stayed there early Ocotber with a family of four (kids 7 and 12). Property and location where simply perfect. In the middle of wonderful green mountains yet shops and sights around are easy to reach. The house is stunning and well equipped with a beautiful garden and terraces. Also we have never met a better host with so much knowledge and tipps. Look at all the pictures provided and imagine it was even nicer - then you know what it is like. We will always recommend. Fantastic retreat with everything you could need in a relaxed location - great views and a good base for local days out... would gladly have stayed a fortnight!

Wonderful house in stunning scenary
This is a beautiful house set in one of the most stunning settings in the world, the house and pool are beautifully maintained and the kitchen has everything you need with which to cook and serve. It is truly a terrific holiday experience.

The Casa a Corte is a well kept, beautiful and tranquil property where we had a wonderful week. Follow Hugh's rich recommendations on places to eat and visit, and you will have a great experience of Italy.

Amazing house & gardens
The house is wonderful, fantastically equipped, gardens & terraces are beautiful and the Johnson's are brilliant hosts with great local & foodie information. They couldn't be more helpful. The house is exceptionally clean & quiet. Perfect family holiday for people who like the outdoors, walking, bbqs. Best villa we have stayed at in Europe, perfect Tuscan retreat. The local people & restaurants are charming Ian & Sophie Cook & Tennyson's

Amazing
Tuscany is beautiful in the Spring. The birds are singing and the wild flowers are beautiful. We had perfect weather, ate at least 2 meals a day in the amazing garden terraces with wonderful fresh pastas and food from the market and local shops. We were invited to the Lucca film festival and met Martin Freeman, which we loved. We ate superb food, locally and in Lucca, but generally liked being at the house best. We slept so well, read lots of books, enjoyed the walks and garden, the pool and hammock. The perfect place to be with family & friends. Thank you, Mark & Milly Gibson

Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful!
We had a wonderful stay at Casa Corte. The house is incredible and the setting breathtaking. Waking up to the view of the pool makes you want to pinch yourself. Hugh's recommendations were incredibly helpful. We would really recommend getting the 2 very talented chefs to cook for you for a night - a brilliant experience. This is a great holiday for a family, we would go back in an instant. Thank you Hugh!

A stunning large farm house with beautiful pool
We had a fantastic stay at Casa A Corte. The owner Hugh could not have been more helpful, very responsive and answered any questions we had about the property and surrounding area. He also gave us lots of brilliant recommendations for local restaurants and things to do. The house itself is truly special, rising over 3 floors with lots of character, the outside shutters for the windows made the rooms completely dark which meant we all had the best nights sleep for our entire trip. The pool was well maintained and clean, it's surrounded by grape vines and olive trees and luscious grass, beautiful mountain scenery all round. Its only a short drive to the local town of Ponte A Mariano and slightly further to Lucca if you want more hustle and bustle. We are a foodie group from London and ate out most most nights, so much on offer, and yes . . . the pasta's really were that good! I'll soon be back and can't wait to stay in this house again, truly perfect holiday. Thanks Gatey Tayler

Nous sommes une famille de quatre qui aime voyager. Nous avons grandi dans l'est et sommes venu en Europe afin de tourner des films de la faune et de la flore. Bien que je me spécialise dans un tout autre genre, mon travail est de rendre magnifiques les objets et les endroits. Nos deux enfants ont appris les langues à l'université et aiment les voyages, la nourriture, les loisirs, la vie sauvage, l'art et le sport.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

En visitant quelques propriétés en été et automne 1999, nous sommes tombés sous le charme de la Casa a Corte et de son terrain ainsi que des montagnes, en arrière plan.
Nous avons tout de suite su que c'était la maison que nous recherchions.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

Nous aimons être à l'extérieur et passer nos vacances à regarder le magnifique paysage et sa nature sauvage, à parler avec les locaux et à tenter de devenir un meilleur cuisinier. Un fermier de Gugliano et ses amis nous ont beaucoup aidé et ont fait de la maison un endroit très spécial pour ma famille.
Les restaurants locaux, et tout particulièrement l’Antica Locanda, nous ont conseillé dans notre production d'huile d'olive et son devenu des amis de la famille.
