My family of 6 stayed the weekend at the Mackinaw Getaway in Sagle. It was nice being right on the water and yet close to Sandpoint for all the great restaurants. Place is RUSTIC including the beds but would not deter me from staying again.
pros ; cozy comfortable cabin
very comfortable mattresses
great lake view
cons ; coded door lock not functional
uncomfortable pillows
no local tv
overall; would definitely stay there again
This cabin has a lot of potential but is clearly being neglected by either the owner or Vacasa. We were really looking forward to staying in a cabin on the lake and had no expectations of a sterile environment but what we found was absolutely disgusting and sad. This property should be updated before it is allowed to be rented again. Beds, furniture, fixtures all need attention. And whoever they are using for local management should be let go.
Pros: Convenient location to Sandpoint. On the water. Sunset view from dock. Two kayaks, two paddle boards, and one canoe were a great bonus. BBQ grill provided. Well stocked kitchen. Email notification of early check-in availability was awesome. Multiple family rooms nice for large groups.
Cons: Lots of tiny bugs in house windows sills and under anywhere there's a light, including some bed pillows. Musty smell in east rooms of house. Uncomfortable living room furniture and kitchen chairs. Living room recliner broken. 4 Full sized beds (not 2 queens as advertised) small for two people. No beach area, only small dock access, which could use modernization (like a ladder). Stairs to dock lack handrail. No cleared beach area like similar properties nearby. Priced way too high for condition of cabin.
We loved the view, atmosphere and cabin. We were told there would be wood for a fire but couldn't locate. In a few of the rooms the bedding was dirty and beverages from other renters under the couch, so cleanliness not great for renters paying a fee to have the cabin cleaned. Not a big enough garbage can outside for large groups and the beds are so uncomfortable and chair that is broken needs to be replaced. There wasn't any bed or couch to get comfortable, but it is a beautiful cabin and we had fun. Thank you
This place was fantastic. Loved the view . Old unique house. It had everything you could possibly need. Close to town and the long bridge. We absolutely loved it. Iâll be back
I love the location and the house. Several things I wish would would be upgraded one is the beds, rustic only goes so far, queen beds would be very nice. The refrigerator does not work right, the technician was nice that came out was nice however it still not freezing well. Not to be too critical of the housekeeping folks a lot of dust on the hard to reach areas. With that being said I love this place and the town I was raised in. I will rent again this is the second time here.
House had a lot of character with its age, antiques, books but too much furniture taking space and no bed bigger than a double...hard for two people to sleep together. Accuracy of online listing...very difficult for 8 adults to sleep there comfortably. Beautiful lake location but the dock needs improvement to allow for safe swimming. If the dock was extended past the underwater rocks and had better ladder access to the water (steps were hot to the touch, uneven and hidden under the dock) it would be an amenity to the house rental, like the house adjacent. The abundance of cookware in the kitchen needs to be purged. Beautiful location and quiet.
We rented this cabin for a family getaway and it was perfect for our family of 5. Very convenient location for going to Sandpoint and having a home base to explore Lake Pend Oreille from. There were no actual swings on the playground pictured in the yard but the dock and deck were enough to entertain the kids outside. Nice views from the bedrooms facing the water.
My husband and I spent valentines weekend at this little gem, and it was so cozy and relaxing it was just perfect! View was awesome, crazy to see Lake Ponderay completely frozen over! Plenty of space for everyone and that bath tub was awesome! We will be back there for sure!
A wind storm started at 8am, Monday, September 7th. Power went out. Tree came down pulling power lines with it. Dock broke and floated away. We evacuated immediately then returned around 1pm to gather our belongings. We did not stay at the cabin on Monday night. There was no power and electrical lines were still down when we left at 230pm.
We had a nice time and the place is exactly as it looks. I wish the owners would create a little beach spot so the family could sit down at the water. Other than that it was great
Our stay started with removal of a live bat in the bathroom, followed up by washing sheets and bedding prior to use d/t dirty linens. We nestled into bed for a good night sleep to be left restless because of prison mattresses and uneven floor boards. The location was easy to find and convenient to Sandpoint. Kitchen well stocked. The house is clearly old and has charm, with a little more love it could be an amazing place.
It was as if the house was not spring cleaned. Old musty smell, dusty sheets and pillow cases. Mouse poop in cooking pots and pans. We spent the first couple hours cleaning, opening windows, and doing laundry. After that this house was fine. Close to town, great spot on the lake, secluded patio. However there was no patio furniture or grill as advertised. Lots of space in the house and yard to accommodate many people. Although more than one car/ truck would make parking difficult. Also the mouse did not go away, but never got into our food. Wish we could get our cleaning fees back seeing as we had to do it ourselves.
We loved the cozy homey feel! It was a perfect home away from home. Great location, well stocked amenities, and very spacious. It's a rustic place but offers all the modern amenities. Will definitely stay again when weâre in the area.
