The accommodations are a little dated but clean with great views of the bay. I would not recommend this place if you have children as there is no beach area but the pool is adequate for adults.

Our Favorite Vacation Spot

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our 4th time staying at Honokeana, so you can guess that we enjoy the place. The snorkeling is great there and the people who runs the place are friendly and helpful. That said, we probably won't choose to stay in unit 113 as it is minimally outfitted compared to some of the other units.

I hate to give a review because this place will get too crowded!

Negatives: not a lot of privacy because your patio is right on the common area and there isn't any AC. But.....the positives greatly outweigh the negatives and we will be back ASAP!!

A perfect piece of paradise

The property is ideally situated on the shores of Honokeana Cove, a few steps down to the intimate little bay filled with sea life and, especially, sea turtles. Only a short walk away are several other beaches to enjoy. From our balcony we could look out onto Molokai and see humpback whales breaching in the distance. The unit itself was clean and just perfectly set up for our group of four. We were able to use the kitchen and outside grill to cook up some delicious meal. Each unit is configured to face the common areas and the ocean, so though the compound was full of guests, we never lost a sense of privacy and quiet. The guests were all very friendly - a wonderful group of vacationers to complement the gorgeous setting. When I return to Maui, I plan to return here.

It was a longer drive than I would have liked from the conference I attended in Wailea and from Haleakala. Traffic noise from the road is heard in the bedroom of the units that parallel the road. Nice snorkeling in the cove. I probably should have stayed more centrally on the island

Beautiful but noisy and crowded

We learned that March is crowded with families with young children rather than older groups like ourselves. Instead of peaceful and relaxed times at the shore or pool, our days and nights were filled with cries and loud voices and the pool filled with untended children.

First time at Honokeana Cove

There is no sandy beach but there are dozens of giant sea turtles that come out to sun on the rocky shore and their colors perfectly match the rocks. Snorkeling was superb. Our disappointment was the construction noise during three of our five days there. We were told via email about this just days before we arrived and we were not in a position to change our plans.

Nice Complex

The Honokeana Cove complex itself was very nice with a heated pool and pretty grounds. All of the units face the ocean which is nice and we had a ground floor unit which made for easy access to the pool and bay. The onsite property managers were lovely. It was just me and my 11 year old son, so overall, the unit worked well for our stay. My only complaints would be that unit #113 is definitely on the older side. Kitchen and bathroom cabinets appear new, but the outdoor patio furniture really needs replacement, and several dishes and pots and pans were dirty when I removed them from the cabinets. I would definitely consider staying at Honokeana Cove again, but may try a different unit next time.

If previous guests put them away dirty it is hard to catch them in time for the next guests coming in. It is not an excuse but we try our best. When you are here at the Cove, the office is open everyday and Betty and myself are here to make sure your stay is perfect and if that means having the maids come back into your unit...we will do that. Thank you for the suggestion for new lanai furniture. I will contact the owner and see what can be done. The Cove is a perfect place for families of all sizes.
