Honokeana Cove

Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed the small property, uniquely placed at the head of a small bay. People were friendly and many had been coming back for years or decades. The turtles basking on the beach and living in the bay were a highlight for snorkeling.

Although downtown Lahaina is gone, we were able to zip line, horseback ride, and have some fun at the mall in Kaanapali. And of course, snorkeling with the turtles in the Cove is always great.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Loved the layout and cleanliness of unit 202, and the view, straight down into the cove. Birdseye view of the cove's main habitants, the turtles. Everyday we saw 10-12 turtles arrive and depart the shore. The view of the cove and across to Molokai was fabulous! The grounds are well maintained, and we love Su. It was our 5th visit to Honokeana Cove and we've already booked another trip there for next year!

No place better then the cove

Reviewer Comments: We have been coming here for over 30 years because of the proximity of assess to the magical marine sanctuary.. lately I have witnessed and truly negative change in service with surrounding condos offering little in service,no help other then a call to someone off site. Not at the cove. Su is the manager and if you need anything she gets it done. She is really the on-site mother of the constant quality and the reason guests return every year.

Snorkel Heaven

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The property was just as described, comfortable, casual, easy and breezy. Everything was clean and in good order when we arrived. The manager was friendly, efficient, and welcoming. I wouldn't recommend this place to others because I want to make sure there's always room for me, so don't want to share the secret. We traveled the Road to Hana and beyond but should have left earlier in the morning - so much to investigate! We did a zip-line tour above Lahaina with beautiful ocean and island views - it was so easy and safe! I snorkeled at least once every day and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We came to relax and unwind and found the perfect place to lounge and explore and play in the ocean. Thank you!!!

Great place to stay on Maui

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We loved are stay. It's a small condominium development surrounding a small rocky Cove. There is a central courtyard with grass and seating surrounding a lovely pool. There is no real sand along the shore at this development, instead there is a rocky shoreline which makes it difficult to get into the water safely as the rocks can be slippery. But it is well worth the effort to snorkel in the cove. The c ove has turtles that like to crawl up on the rocky shore.

Great Location

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This place was great. We are a family of four with two teenage boys and it was perfect for us. The place was clean and well stocked. The cove had great snorkeling and drive time to other areas, like Old Lahaina, was usually around 15 minutes. It’s only a 10 minute walk to Napili beach which was beautiful and had good waves for boogie boarding. The only downside for us were the outdoor grills other families were using throughout the day. The trade winds blow in the direction of the balconies and often the cooking smell was a little over powering depending on what was being cooked. It would not prevent us from staying there again.

Cove life is the best life!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Honokeana Cove does not disappoint! It's a quiet, small little place and the grounds are immaculate. I probably wouldn't recommend this place for small kiddos because there's no sandy beach, and the entry into the water is not the easiest for littles or for less able-bodied people. However, the view, the turtles, and the snorkeling is phenomenal. The units are all different, so you just have to try to find the unit that best fits your needs based on pictures and description on the website. The units themselves are in pretty good overall condition, with the typical wear and tear of the tropics. Units are generally clean, although on our last visit, our microwave hadn't been cleaned inside, and was full of condensation and bacon grease from the previous guests...yuck! But, we took it in stride, and cleaned it out ourselves. Not a huge deal. Overall, this is our favorite place to stay in Maui! The weather does tend to be a bit rainier here in the Napili area than other areas, but it's very easy to find the sun if you want it by going over to Ka'anapali or Lahaina. If you like to snorkel, this is the place for you!

There is no beach though & access to the cove is across medium sized rounded rocks which makes it easy to slip & fall. So be careful. But it's fun to snorkel in the cove otherwise. The pool is small but fine. Lounge chairs are set up on the lawn for you. The condos are nice & all have ocean views. Each is owned individually & decorated by owner. There is a central management office. There are laundry facilities in 2 separate buildings. The staff are nice & grounds are well maintained.

We enjoyed the condo - but this unit #202 could use some maintenance repairs with the glass door and screen door leading out to the lanai that were very difficult to open. Also, had issues with the towel bar on the back of the bathroom door that came off. We will be back again because the Cove offers that warm and hospitable Old Hawaiian ambience!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Amazing ocean views and great place to snorkel. It is like a private snorkel in a turtle sanctuary! We spent a lot of time in the lanai enjoying the views, watching the Honus come ashore and the whales breaching. On one day we coubted as many as 16 honus Soaking in some sun..The other guests were also very friendly. definitely coming back again here !

A nook of paradise

Incredible place for a couple

We stayed here at this listing for 5 nights. It was a getaway for my wife and I without the kids. It was a perfect trip. The process was very smooth. The reservation was made less than 24 hours prior to our arrival. We had to cancel a trip to Mexico and panicked to find a replacement trip. This was more than adequate. It was incredible. Extremely quick responses and very smooth process. The grounds are immaculate. So lush and green and beautiful. The unit itself was very clean and we felt very safe. The view is incredible. The turtles every night were very special. And the snorkeling in the cove is A+. It’s a very quiet unit. The only noise really comes from the road behind the complex. It can get a bit noisy. The lack of air conditioning was not really an issue at all for us. It was windy most days and opening up the windows was plenty cool enough to make for comfortable sleeping. Some of the kitchen items are showing heavy use but most rentals are like this. Only cons? There were no toiletries at all. A very small lotion and two small bars of hand soap were there. Nothing else. So we had to go buy shampoo, conditioner, body soap, and a few other items. Maybe our fault for not knowing but it would have been nice to at least have a little something there. Also, maybe some anti bacterial hand soap to use? Obviously due to the pandemic right now. But all in all these are very little gripes that didn’t take away from our trip at all. The rest of everything more than made up for it and I would completely recommend this listing. I do want to say something else. I really want to stress that if you have kids or even adults that want to approach the turtles that are resting on the beach, PLEASE, say something and tell them not to. We watched multiple people approach the turtles to within touching distance and kids playing around them and throwing large rocks around them. Not at them. But enough to get them to leave the beach. That is just wrong. They are precious animals that don’t need the stresses of all these humans ruining their rest. They are protected for a reason. Please help protect them and not become part of the problem. This was an incredible trip that I would repeat many times over. The location, unit, and views are all near perfection. They really have a magical place. Book it and enjoy it!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The condo and the grounds exceeded our expectations. The pictures really don't do it justice. We were especially impressed with the grounds and the attention to detail. It's like having your own botanical gardens right outside your door. It's evident that the groundskeeper is a plant lover and weaves everything together perfectly. The grills were great. One of the things my son enjoyed most was grilling and chilling in paradise at dusk. We also feel very lucky to have experienced the turtles. Being able to observe them swimming and sunning was an unexpected treat. Hope to come back someday.
