Staying on the "quieter" side of Mt Desert Island, gave us the opportunity to hike new parts of Acadia with views just as spectacular as Cadillac Mt. ( Mt. St. Sauvier and Acadia Mt). The yurts were a great compromise for the 2 young adults wanting camping in the woods and us elders preferring a bed and kitchen. THANKS Acadia Yurts!
Great location and quiet, comfortable, family friendly feel with great on site wellness activities as well as close access to all the major Acadia sites
This was the most amazing experience. Everything was perfect. We had everything we needed and was able to take a five minute drive to a nearby IGA for food and supplies, and had lovely restaurants nearby. We enjoyed the short drive to the bottom of Long Pond for hiking and a peaceful, beautiful place to read and sit to start and end our days. The campground was just so peaceful and beautiful. I highly recommend.
We had the most amazing week staying in this yurt! The space was cozy, peaceful, and just what we needed to unwind and enjoy nature. The owners were incredibly lovely and accommodating, so friendly, and welcoming from the moment we arrived. They went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. We truly couldnât have been more excited to be there. Our two kids loved it! Everything was perfect, and weâre already looking forward to coming back. Highly recommend!
We stayed her in 2017 and we were so pleased to find that the yurt was not only spotless but improved. It had an even more comfortable couch, nothing looked worn out, and everything was so cozy and clean. It POURED but it was a fantastic place to enjoy time with friends. Bring slippers as the floors are cold but everything else, just as warm as can be. Go support the businesses of SW Harbor while youâre there! Excellent restaurants too. Hope itâs not 8 more years until we can return!
Everything about this rental was what I had hoped for. Sturdy, warm, well-appointed yurt with thoughtful amenities. Pristine, serene, well-maintained property. Friendly, responsive yet unintrusive owners. Convenient to the park but tucked away. Fantastic wellness center with a myriad of offerings and classes. Highly, highly recommended!
We loved our stay. The yurt was clean, everything accessible to make our stay easy. Short drive to Bar Harbor for dinner and shopping. Short drive to Acadia Park. 10/10 we would absolutely stay again. I have to say that the tankless water heater was greatly appreciated when there were 4 of us showering to get ready.
We had a great visit to Acadia and this clamping yurt was the perfect middle ground between camping and getting a hotel. The space was clean, bed was comfy and hosts were very communicative, but not hovering.
Great property managers and awesome amenities. We took our 4 month old on his first vacation ever to a Tiny house while my family stayed in a yurt. From the in-house coffee to the campsite laundromat, I had everything I needed to have a fun, relaxing, worry-free time as a new mom!
This yurt had everything we needed and much more room than a hotel room. Very peaceful area and not far from the main road at all. This gave the camping feel yet had the nice amenities to go with.
It was away from the park loop road which we thought it was going to be an issue, but we spent half of our time on this side anyways so it worked out for the location. The host gave lots of good places to go also in their book. If I went to Acadia again I would stay here.
Our extended family rented 4 yurts for a week and absolutely loved the experience. Acadia Yurts are perfectly located to allow for a remote feel, yet still have easy access to all that MDI has to offer. Yurt life has a camping atmosphere but with the luxuries of showers, a real bed, and simple cooking. Our family was able to spend quality time together but all have personal space. We had an amazing week and plan to be back again soon!
We traveled up to Acadia from the Boston area for a few days. We enjoyed the serenity of the yurt, and also the ability to cook some of our own meals. We did not take advantage of some of the amenities (i.e., the Wellness Center), but we plan to the next time we visit. It can get bright in mornings, so perhaps bring a sleep mask if sunlight wakes you up. All in all, it was as advertised and very cute.
We had a great experience! The yurt was extremely clean and comfortable, and close to everything we wanted to do in Maine. I would recommend it to anyone looking to stay near Acadia and have a fun and unique experience!
The yurt was very clean, and it was such a fun place to stay! We were only there for 3 nights, and with so much to do in the area, we just didn't have time to take full advantage of everything that Acadia Yurts has to offer (fire pit, wellness center, etc), but we'll definitely plan another (longer) stay there!
This location was the perfect place to stay while hiking in Acadia. We were 20 minutes away from any desired location and were able to use the wellness center amenities to recover from the trails. The yurts were also a super high quality with all our needs provided. One of our favorite parts was getting morning air on our âporchâ eating bagels and drinking the great coffee provided by the hosts!
This was the first time that my bf and I stayed in a yurt, and we both loved it! The yurt was very clean and much more spacious than I was expecting. The week we stayed had cooler temps and the heater in the yurt had no issues maintaining a cozy 70 degrees. The hosts provided wonderful recommendations for restaurants and hikes and responded timely to our questions. We would definitely recommend to anyone whoâs interested in glamping!
Aaron is an Maine native. He was born and raised across the bridge in Trenton and grew up attending local Bar Harbor schools. He has worked in the restaurant industry for the past 15+ years beginning as a prep cook in high school then moving toward general manager. Aaron's favorite extracurricular activity is learning all he can about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. As often as he can, he trains locally and loves sharing this passion with others.
Karen is a transplant. Originally from Chicago she made her way to Maine in 2009 and fell in love immediately. In Acadia she enjoys hiking, trail running, yoga, and long walks on the carriage roads. Karen has been teaching yoga locally for over 6 years and now brings her practice to the Wellness Center (located on site at Acadia Yurts). Karen is also a licensed massage therapist and offers services onsite.
As a couple we have done quite a bit of traveling and through that we have narrowed down the particular way we like to travel. The biggest factor for us is having a furnished kitchen in order to prepare health minded foods to nourish our bodies and support all our outdoor activities. The idea for Acadia Yurts has been brewing for quite some time. Friends of ours live off the grid in a yurt and we greatly appreciate the rustic, romantic feel of the yurt but wanted some of the comforts of home- running water, heat, electricity. From there Acadia Yurts was born. We deeply hope you enjoy our home as much as we do!!
This property is a stones throw to Acadia National Park with hidden gems around every turn. Acadia Yurts is the most unique way to stay on MDI. We bring you local knowledge, passion for living mindfully and a desire to share our favorite place with you and your loved ones to create lasting memories.
- Completely unique dwelling - Amenities of home including furnished kitchen, bathroom, heat, and furnished living spaces - Proximity to Acadia National Park - Located on quiet side of MDI to assist you in slowing down and reconnecting to yourself and loved ones
