Third time stay

We like it because we can have two bathrooms though I miss the bath after a days cycling. I would have rated the location excellent but Gillygate is always full of polluting traffic.York is too crowded but there are good walks and cycle rides away from the city.I will stay here again next year if we ca

Great base for exploring York

Perfectly located, great to have parking and an outdoor area. Short walk into the city but tucked away. Fab to have two shower rooms although these could benefit from having bath mats. No Hoover or broom to use during our stay. Comfortably sized for 4 adults and a dog.

Very good property

A very good location and lovely accommodation. Parking on site preferably for small car. All facilities were good - only criticisms (if I had to give some) were a need for more small plates and a lighter weight duvet. We had hot weather and the duvet was rather warm! Otherwise an excellent stay and would recommend.

2night stay in York

4 ladies stayed for 2 nights at Moatside. Lovely accommodation with everything we needed. Parking was ample for a larger car under the archway plus a smaller space within the gates. Location is great, short walk to the city gate. Would definitely stay here again

Highly recommend

Moatside Gate is an excellent property in an ideal situation only 10 mins. walk from the Minster. Benefits from having 2 parking spaces Only negatives - no tea towel or bathmats and only 4 small plates! Boiler switched off when we arrived, but very comfortable once we had realised and put it back on. Our 2nd visit and we will definitely return. Many thanks

Exactly as advertised.

This property was exactly as we hoped it would be from the cleanliness of the rooms to the perfect location for York city centre. The only downside was that the weather was hot for a couple of days during our stay and so a portable fan in the bedrooms would have been welcomed.

Biking and on foot..

For me-great location for cycling.For George-secure parking. me-Don’t like York,it is too busy.Don’t like Gillygate constant traffic and pollution.Love the outskirts-flat quiet roads for cycling. Love walking away from York by the river.. Great property but onSunday night/Monday morning homeless person sleeping in undercroft.Thursday after noon/evening somebody ( not visiting us)packed in under Croft so our car could not be parked inside our gate Would stay again. But missed the bath.

What a gem hidden away by the old city walls. Well equipped, very clean, comfortable and a perfect location just a short walk to the main sites in York. On-site parking a bonus too. Great communication with Stays York helped everything go smoothly. Highly recommend

Excellent property

This is a great little house for us as two couples to meet up. Location is so convenient for exploring York, we were able to park the cars and walk everywhere. Glorious weather helped our experience, and the garden meant we could sit outside. Highly recommend.

Gen close to town

We loved our stay at Moatside Gate, York. Just outside walls. Was easy to walk to everything. Place was quiet and comfortable. Has parking inside property gate if you have a small car but there is still a designated safe parking spot just outside entrance gate for a larger car. Highly recommended.

Highly recommend this property.

Very pleased we chose this holiday home. Five minute walk to city centre with good parking. Very well designed and equipped. A pleasure to spend a week here. Perfect in every way

The cottage is in an ideal location, was perfect for two couples and a dog and the parking available was a bonus. Close enough to plenty of cafes and restaurants (many dog friendly) but well equipped for cooking at home as well. The cottage was cost and warm when we arrived which was lovely. The courtyard and gates were great for the dog as there was safe outdoor space. Would definitely visit again!

Another fabulous experience in York

Moatside Gate is a winner on location, being minutes away from the centre of York. The property is warm and cozy, with the interior layout providing almost two separate double en suite rooms. Add to that a fully equipped kitchen, and there is nothing to fault with this beautiful little holiday getaway.

Christmas in York

We have been coming to York for Christmas shopping for several years now and spent the last 3 here at Moatside. Lovely little cottage within easy walking distance from the city so we can just park up the car for the few days we are here. Always nice and clean and with all the amenities you need.

Relaxing short stay in the beautiful city of York

Lovely small cottage situated just outside the city walls a brisk 10 minute walk from the heart of York. The cottage has all the facilities you will need and we found it warm and comfortable. There is parking for 2 cars but you may struggle if you had 2 large cars. The cottage is bright and modern with a small seating area outside. Would certainly consider staying again if we return to York.

Nice little hidden gem

Tucked away in the middle of some apartments is this little cottage. Good level of equipment with everything you should need for a mini break. The main town is just over 5 minutes away, The parking area is for smaller cars (which is stated in the property description) but driven very carefully I managed to fit our F-Pace in.....just!! Very minor issues I know but the mattress in the bedroom felt like it was a cheaper sprung one and the skylight, while having a blind fitted was too high to reach so we couldn't close it.

Our Annual Shopping trip to York

My Husband, Daughter and I come to York every December for the Christmas experience. This is our 3rd stay at Moatside Gate. It is convenient for the shops and restaurants. It has always been clean and well equipped. This year they have made some improvements to the bathrooms, installing a shower in one instead of a bath and overhead shower and upgraded the shower in the other, which are much better. We will be back again next year, all being well, and hope to stay here again.

Weekend in York

Accommodation was fine. Comfy beds/good bathrooms, lovely and warm. Could have done with dish cloth in welcome pack. Position re York really good. Parking we did have someone block us in for a while (something to be aware of) . Reason for low score on customer service was WiFi not consistent. Was told router would be replaced (as WiFi not working ) during in stay if left key for access which we did( told would happen Friday , it didn’t then told would be Saturday but that didn’t happen either). Had temporary Wifi which didn’t work very well initially and then stopped completely on second day of stay and I had a teams meeting about my son in residential care which disconnected mid meeting.
