Victoria Cottage - a family break that sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms
Just a short stroll from the heart of the city centre is Victoria Cottage. This 2 bedroom terrace property is located with the city walls and has recently undergone an extensive renovation and is presented to a very good standard throughout.
The ground floor features a lounge complete with flat screen LCD TV and soundbar. The room leads through to the dining area that can seat 4 for dinner. The kitchen is equipped with a granite worktop, dishwasher and fridge freezer. There is also a washer/dryer that can be found in the external garage.
The house bathroom is on the ground floor at the rear property and features a bath with overhead shower.
Upstairs you will find the 2 bedrooms. 1 bedroom has a king size bed and the other has twin beds.
Free high speed WiFi throughout with Virgin Media.
The property is only suited for children over 5 years old due to the nature of the stairs within the property.
A digital parking permit in a local car park is included to enhance your stay by offering convenient parking space for one car. The car park is a short 5 minute walk away.
Fantastic location 5 mins walk ,and we were in the centre of York ,everything was provided, and even a nice welcome pack ,the cottage was spotless ,and the beds were super comfortable ,only problem we had was that we couldnât find the hairdryer ,contacted Stays York ,and they sorted it ,would definitely go again.
Excellent house in great location. Warm and clean. The only downside is that there was no opportunity to recycle any rubbish. We contacted stays York to ask where to put the glass and they suggested with the rest of the rubbish. We left them in the house! Also it would be helpful if some additional rubbish bags and some surface cleaner could be left . BUT, notwithstanding the minor details the house is excellent!!!
We spent 4 nights at Victoria Cottage in May/June. It is in a great location, literally 5 minutes walk into the city centre. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped for both short and longer stays having been tastefully decorated.
There are several nice restaurants near by if you want to eat out or you can shop for supplies and eat in.
A car parking permit is provided however itâs worth noting that this does not allow you to park on the street outside only in council car parks. The closest one is about 5 mins away on foot.
Great location. Lovely and clean cottage. I took my mum with me who is 85 years, the stairs are very steep going to the bedrooms, and quite dangerous for her in the night as the bathroom is down stairs. I couldnât get the television to work and realised the batteryâs didnât work, so had to buy new batteries. The hairdryer wasnât there so called your office and they replaced the next day but not till the afternoon.
Stairs are very steep - so this house is not recommended for anyone with mobility problems.
Electronic car parking permit issued by StaysYork did not prevent us from getting a Penalty Charge Notice claiming 'parking time had been exceeded.' StaysYork confirmed, in response to my written complaint, that the permit was valid. This is a very narrow street with no proper turning head at the end where Nr 10 is located. The Enforcement Officer said that he had responded to a complaint received about blocking a garage (opposite the house). This had not occurred. No person asked me to move the vehicle at any time during out stay.
I can only conclude that someone living in the street is hostile to visitors who park their cars here.
We had a very nice stay at Victoria Cottage. The location is prime for access to the train station and walking into the city. We didnât have a car and we were able to get around easily. The cottage is super cute and charming. The stairs are very steep so I would not recommend this for small children who may have trouble on the stairs, however it wasnât a problem for us. Our exchanges with customer service were pleasant and efficient. This is a wonderful option if you are traveling to York!
Perfect stay for two nights with my husband and son. Very comfortable and only a 10 minute walk to town. York Stays were brilliant throughout. The only problem was that despite the parking permit being included we got a parking ticket right outside the house which we were told we need to appeal ourselves. We are still awaiting the outcome. Wouldnât hesitate to stay again.
We stayed at Victoria Cottage for our 15 Year Anniversary and we loved it. It is minutes walking distance from the Town Centre, great location. The house itself is lovely, very clean and has everything you need. We enjoyed it that much that we stayed an extra two days, which was no problem with the owners and we just called up, booked again and just paid over the phone.
My only negative comment would be that it was quite expensive but it is in the prime location and very clean and tidy so can't really moan.
