Mystic Mountain-Secluded Log Cabin with Pool, Hot Tub & Amazing Views!

We take guest safety and the condition of our property very seriously, so I do want to clarify several points for the benefit of future guests reading this review. Regarding the deck, we completed extensive exterior improvements at the beginning of the summer. This included landscaping, replacing numerous deck boards, installing a new pool, and thoroughly inspecting the deck. We routinely check the property for maintenance and safety concerns, including loose or exposed nails, and no such issue was identified prior to this stay. We will inspect the deck again to ensure that nothing has changed and that everything remains in proper condition. We are also unclear about the reference to the floor layout being “covered in trip hazards.” There is a very slight transition between the kitchen and living area, separated by appropriate trim. The raised tiled area surrounding the wood stove is intentional and necessary for safety, providing a noncombustible barrier around the stove. The grill burners were recently replaced and are fully functional. The guest did not contact us about having any difficulty operating the grill during his stay; had he done so, we would have been happy to assist him. Please note, this review does not reflect the condition of our property, and none of these concerns were reported during the stay. We encourage future guests to consider our many other reviews and remain committed to providing a safe, well-maintained, and enjoyable stay.

We were surprised to learn of these issues after your stay, as neither we nor our local property manager were contacted. As noted in our check-in information and cabin guide, our manager is on call and can usually be at the property within minutes to address unexpected issues quickly. The cabin is thoroughly cleaned, inspected, and routinely treated between stays, and we have found no evidence of a mouse issue. The driveway trees have since been trimmed, and the toilet leak discovered after checkout was promptly repaired. The pool was cleaned before arrival and is an unheated lap pool, so its temperature varies with outdoor conditions. The hot tub jets are also functioning properly and are controlled by a dial on the side, something we could have quickly assisted with had we been contacted. We truly value guest feedback and take concerns seriously. We encourage guests to reach out during their stay so we have the opportunity to resolve or clarify anything right away and ensure a relaxing getaway.

Taking these claims very seriously, we conducted a thorough inspection of the cabin. All AC units were checked & found to be operating properly. The cabin’s well water is regularly tested, treated & safe for consumption, as disclosed in our listing. While some guests prefer bottled water, the water is potable & serves multiple cabins on the mountain, including our property manager’s home. We also took the rodent claim very seriously & had the cabin professionally inspected. No evidence of rats or rodent activity was found. While the cabin is in a remote mountain setting where guests may see wildlife outdoors, we have NEVER had a rat issue in the cabin. Regarding the access road, our listing clearly explains that the cabin is located at the top of a mountain & we recommend 4WD/AWD. The final stretch is a maintained gravel mountain road—not an off-road trail— detailed arrival instructions are provided so guests know what to expect. We have welcomed many guests both before & since this stay who have had wonderful experiences & raised none of these concerns. Thank you also for your feedback regarding the road. As you mentioned, the condition of the final stretch is noted in our listing so guests know what to expect before arriving. We do recommend a 4WD or AWD vehicle with decent ground clearance, particularly for guests who may not be accustomed to mountain roads. That said, we have hosted plenty of guests who have successfully made the drive in sedans as well. Maintaining a steady speed of approximately 10–15 mph and turning off traction control when needed can make the incline much easier to navigate. We also appreciate you bringing the A/C vent and bathroom bulbs to our attention. Those items have already been addressed and rectified. I’m sorry to hear you had some difficulty closing the back door. That isn’t something we’ve experienced before, but I will certainly double-check it to make sure everything is working properly. As you mentioned, the cabin does have a galley-style kitchen, but we’ve worked hard to make sure it is well equipped with everything our guests need to prepare and enjoy meals during their stay.
