Very dated. Had to have assistance with sink and tub not draining. Pool not available. Would work for families with children. Should be better appointed for price.
The apartment is in a great locationâjust two blocks from the beachâand the yard is definitely a highlight. Beautifully landscaped, well-maintained, and a nice space to relax. The apartment itself is cute and functional, perfect for a short stay. The management company was also awesome to work with. That said, for the high price point, some aspects fell short. The furniture feels dated, and the overall interior could use a refresh. Our only interaction with the owner wasnât particularly warmâmore focused on policing the parking situation than making us feel welcome. We were quickly reminded not to use a spot for even a short errand, with an uncomfortable tone about her husband potentially needing it. The pool is also much smaller in person than the photos. Also, the 10:00 am checkout feels overly strict considering the cost, and the amount of surveillance (Ring cameras everywhere noting that your being recoded) made things feel a bit invasive and not as relaxing. Overall, it's a fine stay for the location and yard, but donât expect a lot of hospitality or luxury touches.
The photos were a bit misleading, we were not aware that the second bathroom was not inside the apartment, although that turned out to be ok, giving a bit more privacy and room. The apartment had a moldy musty smell, there was an issue with the kitchen sink, early one morning we heard the people upstairs using water and the kitchen sink started to rumble and gurgle, water then backed up into it and the sink overflowed, there was nothing in the sink so it was easy to clean and then the water went back down eventually. The stay was ok however we will not elect to stay there when we visit again.
This cottage was perfect for our family of four. It is conveniently located a short walk from the beach. The kids had a blast in the pool and the host was a joy to speak with. We highly recommend it and will try to return here for our next trip to Folly Beach!
Very enjoyable stay with beach and food/drink venues in easy walking distance. It was also nice to sit on property around pool and hear the birds and breathe salt air.
Very pretty setting with relaxing atmosphere. Didn't want for anything. Walking distance to stores, beach and Center St with all the restaurants and bars. Great location.
We had a wonderful family stay at Folly Beach. The location was perfect, close to the fun of Center St and just a couple of blocks from the beach. The pool made for a great spot for the family to relax and we had a couple of very nice chats with Greg. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality!
My family and I Had a great time staying at this property as it was clean, had everything we need, close to the beach, and also had an excellent swimming pool. The owners were kind and very hospitable. All in all, we had a wonderful time during our vacation.
Loved our stay in Folly at this fabulous property that was 3 blocks from the ocean as well as has a pool. Very clean and was great for our adult family of five. The owners live upstairs and are friendly but not intrusive. Will definitely keep this property in mind for future visits to Folly!
Plenty of room, comfortable beds, great location. Easy walk to restaurants and shops. 20 minutes to downtown Charleston. The pool looks inviting but not in February.
We enjoyed our stay, but furnishings and decor were very outdated. The second bathroom was located in a separate building (pool area), which was fine, but the air conditioning in that building did not work effectively. The main house had very low ceilings, and my husband had to duck under the ceiling fans. The pool area was cleanly and very nice. This house is a prime location and a good walking distance to downtown strip and beach.
The house is just as described. You have to go to the back to come in rather than entering from the address side, which was funny! We found everything to be delightfully clean and even met the owners upstairs, who were fabulous. I highly recommend!
This cottage was a great spot for our trip. It was comfortable and having a pool was awesome. It was close to the beach, 2 blocks, and several restaurants and a small market. We could walk everywhere we wanted to go. The only issue was the address which is 316 East Cooper but the door opens onto East Erie. Our Ubers picked up and dropped off on Erie Ave.
The kitchen was fully equipped with a nice charcoal grill to cook for my family, affordable, and has a great location, the master bedroom mini blinds do not close well and need replacing, and the cottage needs a dehumidifier because it remains humid, in addition to this we found two live roaches, consider regular pest control visits
We had a great time. Close to the beach and an excellent place. Y'all might want to check the plumbing; the sink in the kitchen and the bathroom were very slow draining. The small bedroom with the ceiling fan had a kind of funky smell, like mildew and nicotine. We sprayed and it was fine, but might want to check! Overall a great time was had by all!!!!
Property not listed as basement level, not too clean.
We were a bit disappointed the property wasn't listed as lower level...cleanliness was below par. There were no TV instructions, dishwasher leaked water and was broken, had to call about ice maker because it didn't work, no instructions for leaving and what to do with laundry, dishware, etc., lighting was tricky, nothing labeled. Outside light couldn't be turned off so one bedroom had light coming in all night. No parking instructions, only one spot.
The distance to the beach was great, only a 2 block walk.
ants, horrible rental company, and fighting owners
First the rental company.. Folly's Best rentals, that manages this rental, is by far the worst rental company ever. They neglect to inform you if there are issues with the beach or access even though they knew before we signed a rental agreement that the beach would be an issue. They don't care if the rental is dirty or ant infested or has mildew growing on the vents. They care nothing about providing service or even being polite. They want their money and that is all. Their solution if you have an issue is to give you an hour to vacate and tell you good luck finding a hotel on the weekend in Charleston. In our case, that would have meant trying to find a place that would have been able to accommodate our food and four people including a 7 months pregnant woman. They didnât send anyone to take a look. They said they tried calling but had no missed calls. The owner said we just couldnât be pleased. How is that possible when they didnât even offer a viable option?
When we walked in, the place wreaked of mildew. So we opened up all the windows thinking that would fix it. Come to find out there was mold and mildew on all the vents so that was never going to go away. We weren't sure we could sue the pool because the vacuum was left in it all weekend. There were ants on the counters when we arrived, which we cleaned off. But as you would think, they were back with a vengeance the next morning. There were 4 flashlights (we thought this nice), but realized they were leaking rust and who knows what else from the batteries. None of the remotes had functioning batteries. There were parental controls on the cable so that you could not watch anything on direct TV that it thought was above G. There was Pseudomonas (that pink bacteria) all over the window sill, blinds, and tub in the bathroom.
Also, you can look forward to the owners, who live above, yelling at each other and watering the plants right onto your head as you sit at the picnic table.
