Get a taste of the Outer Banks lifestyle and soak up the warm sunshine and salty air at Beach Boys, a three-story retreat newly renovated retreat perfect for the whole family! Located semi-beachfront, you can catch a wave or bask in the sun at the beach or cool off at the private pool. Not to mention, there is no better place to watch the colors of the sunset or stargaze than the private hot tub, perfect for those breezy nights. Have fun, fun, fun - surfing at the beach or kite surfing on the sound. Charter a local boat, go down to the Rodanthe Pier, or surf fish right off the beautiful Atlantic. This retreat is also perfectly located for all those bird watchers - only miles from Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge. Hatteras Island is also a divers' paradise with shipwrecks up and down the island to discover. Whether you are a beach activity enthusiast or someone that prefers to lay low, this home is the perfect combination of both!

Inside, you will find all of the comforts and space needed for a memorable stay. The first floor is home to the first bedroom complete with a private bathroom and a comfortable bed. Head up to the second floor and you will be greeted by four more bedrooms, two of which offer access to the large deck that will be ideal for getting a bit of fresh air each morning. For the little ones, you will find two bunk beds and a Pack N' Play available in one of the second-floor bedrooms. A full bathroom with a step-in shower is located in the stairwell between the second and third floors. All bedrooms are equipped with their own TV to access all your favorite apps through Chromecast. When you are looking to entertain the whole group, the third floor will be the hub for culinary creations, movie nights, and mingling, as the full kitchen, living area, and a three seasons yoga retreat await. Not to mention, access to the upper deck is on this floor as well, allowing everyone to choose their own favorite place to hang out between endless hours at the beach!

Things to Know
This property is under new ownership and is completely renovated for the 2023 rental season. No beach week rentals or parties are permitted as this property is intended for families and friend retreats.
The private pool is open seasonally from 4/26/2025 and closes 10/12/2025. Dates are subject to change.

The house was great, plenty of room for our large family. The pool and hot tub were great for hanging out. Salvo is more secluded, which we enjoyed.

First time in OBX

This house is amazing- the cleanest VRBO that I’ve ever stayed in- the location was perfect, you can see the ocean - the view from the crows nest was wonderful! The neighborhood was quiet - very serene - we will be returning:)

Salvo beach house

This beach house was awesome- great location right past the dunes with only a few houses in between us and the ocean! The house was the cleanest VRBO that I’ve ever stayed at- from the crows nest off of the deck you can see the ocean and the sound! The neighborhood was quiet and serene- I’m planning a return visit soon:)

Short and spontaneous getaway

This house exceeded our expectations. The layout is perfect. The beds are SO COMFORTABLE. Good mattresses are crucial to a good vacation. We love the open top floor. The reading nook and yoga rooms are such great ‘hidden’ spaces! This was our first stay in Rodanthe and will not be our last. Can’t wait to come stay at Beach Boys again in the future.

Great vacation spot!

Home was perfect. Short distance to the beach, If you don’t mind walking up a dune. Would recommend to anyone! House was very clean when we got there. Quiet neighborhood. And the local coffee shop had the best coffees and pastries. And local sandwich shop had big sandwiches for great prices.

Great week getaway!

We loved staying at "Beach Boys"! There was plenty of room for two adults and four teens; nobody ever felt cramped. The beds were very comfortable (and extra blankets were available for anyone who sleeps cooler), there were plenty of towels for the six of us, and the kitchen had more than enough dishes/pots and pans/utensils/etc. for us to cook a few dinners in. I'm not sure how long ago the house was renovated, but everything looked new and clean. We weren't staying in peak season, so a lot of the local businesses weren't open for the season or closed early, but there was still plenty to do. We had a lovely week and will hopefully be able to come stay again soon!

House is wonderful, beautifully decorated with everything you could want. Pool has alot of sand in it, cloudy and not well kept. Although lots of piol toys. Hot tub only half full of water with lots of debris in it. No way was it usable. Not sure if they are on maintenance plan. No one came all week.

Wonderful family home in the quiet part of OBX

This was a great home for our family who loves spending time together on the beach away from all the touristy/commercial OBX stuff. The home was recently renovated and very spacious and well maintained. Only about 100 yard walk over the dunes to the beach. Great fishing, great beach, fun playing in the waves, easy walk to the Pocahontas/Richmond shipwreck, relaxed family friendly environment. Comfortable beds, lots of room for dining, great decks with views of both the ocean and sound, everything in working order. Very close to gas station, Dales car repair shop, Waves market, and reasonable restaurants. We would definitely stay there again.

Perfect for Relaxation

We had a great stay at Beach Boys! Very spacious and updated beach house. Very close to the beach and the pool and hot tub were the icing on the cake! The only downside is almost everything on the island closes early and the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because the house wasn’t as clean as it could have been and some things were broken inside the house. The pool was also dirty and didn’t get cleaned until day 3. Other than that, a pretty good stay!

Great time in Salvo

Beach Boys was everything we could have asked for! The home was clean and updated. Bedding was comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with pretty much everything we needed. The beach is a short walk away and less busy than areas further north, which we enjoyed very much. Our kids loved the pool! There is a small grill on the property as well. The property managers were quick to respond to any issues (small issue with a light fixture) and correct them. We'd definitely stay here again.

The house was stocked in the kitchen with all the tools you need. The house was roomy and nice. Love that the beach was not crowded almost like a private beach. The house is only about 30 minutes from Nags Head so you could get there easily as there is not much in Salvo/Avon to do or eat out. I would stay here again. Just a note the hike to the beach can be a little much as you have to go over this large sand berm that could be challenging for older individuals or ones with disabilities. There are no ramps or stairs down the berm to get to the beach.

Beach boys house

The location of this house was great. It’s not a great distance from a grocery store and just a little way from a dollar general. It’s centrally located so you can go north to kill devil and see the Wright Brothers museum ,Manteo and Bodie light house. Or go south and see Hatteras, take a ferry to Okrakoke. It has a lot of appliances. A toaster, coffee maker, coffee grinder, blender and hand mixer. No espresso machine or frother… but if your not a coffee drinker your good.😊 It’s just a short trek to the beach and a lot of fun can be had there!

Received a text on possible early check in, got to the home at 3 - house was empty and already “cleaned” texted and called about entering sooner. Advised check in at 4 no exceptions. In the house, the floors were filthy, the bathrooms weren’t cleaned, hair still in the shower, there was a missing shower door in one of the Jack and Jill bathrooms and the other glass door was not on the track, an adult, thank God not one of our kids, were getting out of the shower and the shower door was stuck because it wasn’t on the track and broke, glass everywhere. The adult got cut up on their feet, arms and hands. I contacted vacasa and no one ever attempted to contact me by phone other than saying thank you for letting us know. We ended up checking out early Friday morning because of the glass all over the bathroom.

Great stay!

This house was clean, a few things here and there that didn’t work ie: the pool door latch broke off because there was no stopper so it slammed against it, the sliding balcony door in one of the king sized rooms didn’t open, the door handle to the screen door had fallen off but we were able to push it back in. The beach was not too far but if sunny and warm the sand gets super hot burning your feet on the hill you have to walk up and down on! Absolutely loved this house, open and spacious and close to the beach. Not too much to do in the area and you do have to travel 20 minutes to a grocery store. There is a dollar store and a deli that you can grab some stuff at but nothing big like food lion. Great stay and highly recommend this place! 💖

Drowning in trash

The house overall was not bad. The surrounding houses are really close and there isn’t much privacy. The beds were the most comfortable beach house beds we have ever had in 10 years of coming to OBX, so that is a big plus. The entrance is a giant sandbox because of poor grading around the house which causes you to drag a lot of sand in the house. We got the house thinking each bedroom had its own bathroom. That is not the case, the four bedrooms on the middle floor share two bathrooms. Biggest issue was that we had nowhere to go with trash. There was one trash receptacle for a 5 bedroom (12 guest) house. Totally inadequate. The only trash receptacle was already full when we arrived from the previous guests. We piled bags around the receptacle but the trash guys didn’t take them. Our group filled the one receptacle in one day…. The other similar sized houses we have go to have always had 4 or 5 receptacles.

Hi Gary, thank you for your feedback. We will be ordering new garbage cans for the home to help with trash capacity. Please note that trash needs to be taken to the road with cans facing the street for pickup, as the trash truck uses an automated system and can be particular, especially during peak summer months. The listing reflects 5 bedrooms and 4 full baths, with the bunk rooms sharing a bathroom. We’re also working on getting a virtual tour of the home to help prevent any future confusion. Not the best experience

While traveling on the first day, we received a text message saying that the home was ready for early check in - yay! However, when we arrived at the home, that was definitely not the case. We were greeted with trash all over the driveway…covered in flies. I’m sure an animal had made their way into the trash, which is understandable, but if someone had recently been there to clean, wouldn’t they have seen this? As we made our way into the home, this question was answered and things only got worse. It was obvious the home had not been cleaned. Actually, it looked like someone may have started cleaning, but definitely didn’t complete the job. And these weren’t just small things… the house needed to be completely re-cleaned. On a positive note, a cleaning crew did come over very quickly, but it definitely wasn’t a good first impression. The layout of the home is great, but we could only use 2 out of the 4 bathrooms. Neither of the showers on the 2nd floor were operational. The shower knob was broken in one of them, so you couldn’t even turn on the water. And the drain was so clogged in the other shower that you couldn’t use it either. All guests in our party had to use either the downstairs shower, or the very small shower on the 3rd floor. I reported this problem on the second day we were there but no one came to fix either of them during our stay. Most of the issues we experienced were minor and could have been fixed fairly easily. It just didn’t appear than anyone had checked this home before our arrival.
