Beautiful house and outdoor space near a lovely town
really lovely old style italian propoerty but equipped well. The old style adds to the charm of the propoerty. The outdoor spce a large with many shaded areas and a great pool. The hosts were very welcoming and gave a good introduction. The location is great - walking distance to the local town which is pretty and friendly. Discovered a couple of really lovely restaurants.
Wonderfull stay in this superb location with great hosts. Peacefull ambiance, view on etna mountain, excellent dining in Trecastagni, optimal location for day trips.
We had a wonderful stay, it was relaxing and absolutely stunning. The pool area is the biggest selling feature, with views of Mount Etna and many sitting areas. The house had everything you could need, although only one room has AC so it did get a little hot at night. Overall, I would definitely recommend.
The location in the heart of a small town, the beautiful outside area, the communication with the owner were all excellent. However, we were not prepared for such a tiny kitchen (what you see in the photo is all you get!), the upstairs bedroom has a downstairs bathroom (that is not clear in the listing) and there is only AC in the upstairs bedroom. Overall the villa seems a little small for 4 bedrooms, but we loved our stay and really enjoyed all the positives.
The house was full of character and in the perfect location for restaurants and shops for the essentials. The garden and pool area was stunning with the most incredible views of Etna. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
Our family has had a wonderful holiday in Sicily. The house is very comfortable for 7 adults with its 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. We rented a car and visited Taormina, Catania, Syracuse, Giardini Naxos and Agrigento.
Trecastagni itself is a nice village with easy access to restaurants , fresh fruit and vegetables, and supermarkets. The bakery opposite the house is excellent.
We can highly recommend a stay in Carmelo's house.
The villa is everything and more than is shown in the promotional shots, you have to be there to appreciate how fantastic the garden, pool and views are. Mount Etna was erupting at times during our stay and that was amazing to see, it had unfortunately covered the town in ash before we got there but Carmelo the owner had done a great job of cleaning the pool so we could use it. One thing to mention is the church bells are very loud and go crazy at seemingly random times, so take your earplugs!
We really enjoyed staying at the villa. The pool and gardens are wonderful and, as indicated in another review, the house interior is nicer than the photos suggest. Good location for exploring Mount Etna (Would highly recommend Etna Est tours), Siracusa, Taormina and more... Great local shops especially the bakery across the road and the fishmonger and vegetable shops. Good restaurants within walking distance. San Anton restaurant a particular highlight.
This was a fantastic home in a small town outside Catania city centre. A prefect place to watch the New Year fireworks (from the close by church) and have a NY dip in the pool!
Perfect location to get to Etna (35 min drive) and other close towns - Taormina, Syracuse, Noto, Catania. The house is in a small village with an excellent bakery across the main gate, great fresh fruit and fish shops, and fabulous restaurants - highly recommend San Anton.
Carmelo is a very nice host and helpful when we asked about local info.
Our family of 8 - 6 adults and 2 kids - had more than enough room.
The Villa built in the 1700s gave us a realistic feel of Sicilian living. Literally 5 minute walk to the grocery store. Fantastic fresh fish restaurant across the street and many restaurants to choose from within walking distance. Fresh fruit and vegetable markets, bakeries and so many friendly Italians in the village.
Camelo and Alessandra live close by and respond quickly to questions or needs. We were sad to leave after 17 nights. We did have drivers to take us to the historical sites and to the sea. The description of the Villa is accurate!
We had a fantastic stay at Carmeloâs house. The pool and outside space is fabulous with a great view of Mount Etna (just as good as the photos on the website). Our kids loved it. The house is spacious for a family of five and is clean and well equipped. Trecastagni is a great location. Plenty of good restaurants, food shops and an excellent traditional bar/cafe (Bar Sport - you can get great arancini, granita and ice cream there). Etna and Catania are close by, and Taormina and Siracusa also within easy reach. Carmelo was really helpful and responsive. Highly recommended!
We had a fantastic time a Carmelo's place. The property was pretty much as expected based on the photos, if anything the inside is nicer when you're actually there.
The garden and pool area are spectacular. Inside you're staying in a very old building which gives it character. Everything is perfectly comfortable and functional. The shower rooms are probably due some attention but still fine.
The location is excellent, right in the centre of town which plenty of shops and restaurants in easy reach. Recommendations of places to eat are provided and they are spot on, definitely worth visiting.
All communication with our hosts was simple and any minor issues were dealt with quickly.
Would definitely visit again.
A group of 7 friends have just got home after a weeks stay at this amazing little house in Trecastagni. The house is very old with loads of character but well equipped for a large(ish) group. The garden with several seating areas and a gorgeous pool and views to die for, is a little oasis. Views of the Church, Mount Etna and the sea were just breathtaking. Trecastagni is a great little place with a few excellent restaurants, handy shops selling all essentials (wine, fresh fish, bread etc). The little bakery across the road sold amazing bread, pastries and more and the ladies who worked there were lovely. In fact the people in the town couldn't be more friendly and helpful, just try out your italian and they will go out of their way to help.
Finally, thanks to Carmello and Alessandra for letting us stay in your beautiful house, we all loved it.
Would not recommend Steep driveway to bring our luggage up. Had to ask twice to put heat on because it was cold and damp. Forgot the light on in the bathroom one night and they texted us to shut it off. Washing machine was not clean. Showers were tiny. Had to walk up and down the steep and slippery driveway because we went allowed to drive up. But they used it all the time. The only good thing was the 2 minute walk into town.
Carmeloâs place is a dream! Elegant, rustic, authentic and comfortable for us. Trecastagni is such a charming village and getting to interact with the local community was a great pleasure. The community has everything you need. We were literally the only tourists in town. The community was so welcoming! Digustibus market, the bakery right at our door and the restaurants in town were all fantastic. The main town square is only a 650 foot walk. Carmelo arranged a wonderful transportation company that took us to the airport and to Catania. Catania and Taormina are a lovely drive away. We rented a car for 3 days and had no problem with parking (rent from Saitta Autonoleggi, they are excellent and next to it is a big market). Make sure to keep house keys with you at all times as the doors lock when you exit the house and property. We were tired the first night and locked ourselves out but Carmelo was available by simply pushing the intercom button outside the front gate.
I could go on about how much we loved the home forever. The pool is fabulous! We felt everything from the property to the home to Trecastagni was better than the pictures and what was described.
The house was cute and clean but unfortunately didnât meet our expectations. One of my most important requirements when booking our houses while on our trip to Italy was a/c and washing machine. We stayed in 4 total properties while traveling with our family and this was the only one that was a disappointment. We arrived around 10:00 pm on a Friday night and there wasnât parking near the house. We had to park about two blocks away. When we got to the house and shown around the first thing I noticed was how hot inside the house was. There were 4 total bedrooms and only 1 of the 4 bedrooms had an air conditioner in it which only cooled the one room. There were fans in all of the other bedrooms but no air in the kitchen or living room. The house was an easy 80 degrees inside even at night. The first whole day we were there we left for a few hours and made sure the fans were on in hopes that it would keep the air circulating. When we got home later that day the fans had been turned off as well as the one small mini split in the one bedroom. Super frustrating to know that the home owners came in while we were gone and shut them off. I get that all lights should be turned off while we are gone, we treated every house we stayed in as we would our own home but it was very intrusive to know they came in and turned off the fans and small unit. We definitely would not recommend nor would we stay here again.
We enjoyed 2 weeks here in July. Firstly the location is awesome, right in the middle of the village, bakery opposite, restaurants, ice creams, coffee shops, banks all within walking distance near the base of mount etna. The house itself is secure with large iron gate, there is no parking, you have to park on the street, we always found parking within a couple of minutes walk to the house. There is a steep driveway but itâs only about 20 paces so easy to navigate. The house is very old and quirky, full of charm, dark inside to keep it cool. 3 bedroom downstairs could do with air con but was bearable with a fan. 4 bathrooms all on ground floor, 2 en-suite. 3 bathrooms are very small and the showers are tiny, 1m by 1m EU min standard. Shower heads need modernising, it was like using a hosepipe to shower with, my shower drain was partially blocked, I alerted the owner but nothing was done so in the end I brought a drain clearer and did it my self. Kitchen surprising small but equipped with all the basics, enough to reheat something, cook some pasta or prepare salads. There were no small mixing bowls, measuring jugs or spoons ( I had to buy one) or casserole dishes so you wouldnât be able to properly cook anything. The villa garden is fantastic, beautiful pool, spotlessly clean with a lovely view of etna close to the church which rings bells during the day. 2 nice eating areas. We didnât use the BBQ. We would definitely return to this villa again. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Heel bijzonder!
Our family included 5 adults and two boys 13 and 15. We all enjoyed the property for its charm, its variety of places to sit and talk, read, enjoy a meal, or take in the surroundings. We enjoyed the immediate neighborhood, including restaurants, a bakery across the street, and the nearby piazza. A / C only in the upstairs bedroom, but not a problem because at roughly 1,000 feet above sea level, evening temps (in late June) were comfortable and we were out all day! Carmelo the host is friendly and accommodating, the property and pool well- maintained. Our stay was a very good value. We would stay there again!
