Pros:
Sprawling - much bigger inside than it appears from the outside. We were 4 adults & 4 kids and there were plenty of places to be together or apart. It is long and narrow and actually takes some time to find your way around. 2 bedrooms downstairs have full bathrooms nearby. King bedroom upstairs is near the half bath and there are two more bedrooms upstairs that share 3rd full bath. The room with the foosball table is just outside one of the bedrooms so though there is a daybed it's more of a walk through room. The room with the couch bed can be closed off for another bedroom though if needed. 3 separate indoor dining areas and 2 outdoor patio sets but we most enjoyed the sun room, which is fully enclosed but partially screened for a pleasant breeze. The great room is truly huge. You have to sit on the couch to really understand how big it is. There is a separate fridge in the utility room for more food storage. The caretaker left us dish soap, dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent, hand soap and shower gel so that was nice. It was clean, peaceful and beautiful here. We very much enjoyed our chance to get away to a spacious property and rejuvenate during these troubling times.
Cons:
Though you rent 8 acre property, you don't get entire property to yourself. There is a large gray barn on the property adjacent to the storage shed to the right of the house near the parking area, which is divided into apartments. We did not see the tenants much but were surprised this was not mentioned in the listing. Dumpster was too small for number of renters/tenants. We were planning to do a lot of cooking and baking to avoid restaurants during COVID. We didn't find the kitchen too well stocked for that. We were unhappy with the frying pan selection and there were no baking pans besides cookie sheets. We actually bought a rubber scraper and left it there for the next group. There are far fewer forks than needed for a house of this size. We counted and I think more people can sleep here at the same time than can eat with a fork at the same time. Though a firepit is pictured, there is no firepit. Piano has a pivotal broken A key and is not well tuned. Sounded ok and was playable though. There are no views of Lake Otsego from the house. You have to go down to the edge of the property by the road to see it. Some mattresses and pillows could stand to be replaced. Foosball table needs a foosball.
Overall, we were happy with the place and would recommend it!
