We had 3 families staying here for baseball. It was the perfect set up for multiple families. The house was big and clean and had everything we needed to make our stay fantastic. If we ever come back to the area, we would definitely rent this property again.
We enjoyed our stay in Cooperstown. This house was big enough for three families. We had some trouble with the internet connection but Sandra was incredibly helpful and attentive. She gave us great local recommendations too. She made check in and out so easy too. The property was so quiet too and super relaxing.
This house is perfect for a large family group. Clean and well kept inside and out. An oven problem arose and a new oven installed the next day. Would look forward to returning on next Cooperstown visit. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us.
The house was exactly as described. Very spacious for our 3 families. Host was extremely easy to communicate with. We loved the location, even though it was 18mn from Dreams Park, it was a beautiful drive everyday back to the house. My husband and I loved taking the walk down to the lake and the steep intense walk home.
Pros:
Sprawling - much bigger inside than it appears from the outside. We were 4 adults & 4 kids and there were plenty of places to be together or apart. It is long and narrow and actually takes some time to find your way around. 2 bedrooms downstairs have full bathrooms nearby. King bedroom upstairs is near the half bath and there are two more bedrooms upstairs that share 3rd full bath. The room with the foosball table is just outside one of the bedrooms so though there is a daybed it's more of a walk through room. The room with the couch bed can be closed off for another bedroom though if needed. 3 separate indoor dining areas and 2 outdoor patio sets but we most enjoyed the sun room, which is fully enclosed but partially screened for a pleasant breeze. The great room is truly huge. You have to sit on the couch to really understand how big it is. There is a separate fridge in the utility room for more food storage. The caretaker left us dish soap, dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent, hand soap and shower gel so that was nice. It was clean, peaceful and beautiful here. We very much enjoyed our chance to get away to a spacious property and rejuvenate during these troubling times.
Cons:
Though you rent 8 acre property, you don't get entire property to yourself. There is a large gray barn on the property adjacent to the storage shed to the right of the house near the parking area, which is divided into apartments. We did not see the tenants much but were surprised this was not mentioned in the listing. Dumpster was too small for number of renters/tenants. We were planning to do a lot of cooking and baking to avoid restaurants during COVID. We didn't find the kitchen too well stocked for that. We were unhappy with the frying pan selection and there were no baking pans besides cookie sheets. We actually bought a rubber scraper and left it there for the next group. There are far fewer forks than needed for a house of this size. We counted and I think more people can sleep here at the same time than can eat with a fork at the same time. Though a firepit is pictured, there is no firepit. Piano has a pivotal broken A key and is not well tuned. Sounded ok and was playable though. There are no views of Lake Otsego from the house. You have to go down to the edge of the property by the road to see it. Some mattresses and pillows could stand to be replaced. Foosball table needs a foosball.
Overall, we were happy with the place and would recommend it!
We choose this house to accommodate a potentially large gathering (ages 8-80) not knowing how many would ultimately come. The house proved to be perfectly situated, with bedroom that provided both flexible and privacy. There is room to spread out, and also to gather in one large family room. Both owner and housekeeper were responsive to our questions. Cooperstown provides plenty of interesting activities, and not all baseball (we loved the Farmers Museum). Plus we enjoyed both stars and fireflies on our last evening in late June!
What a,wonderful Christmas we had at this 5 bedroom home in Cooperstown. So spacious. Great living room with great views. Owner and care taker went over the top to accommodate all our needs. Didn't want to leave. We loved our stay.
I grew up and went to high school in Cooperstown. While I left after college, I often come back for parts of the year and love the community. I am excited to share our house with the wonderful guests who visit Cooperstown on an annual basis so they can enjoy the same charm I have for years.
