The location and property were perfect for a quiet weekend while being away from home for a tournament. Close to good restaurants and grocery store. Farmhouse was nice with updated interior.
Thank you for the kind words, Ronald! Weâre so happy your visit at our home was so relaxing. It is definite goal of ours to have every stay be memorable for our guests! We look forward to having you back again!
Felix, thank you so much for your 5-star review! Weâre glad to hear you loved the cleanliness and location of the home. We hope to see you again soon!
Shannon, We are so delighted that you enjoyed your stay in our home! We work hard to meet expectations like yours, and weâre happy to hear we hit the mark for you.
This house offered a spacious living area and beautiful kitchen. I stayed there with four other ladies and we had such a great time hanging out with each other. We had everything we needed in this charming home.
We deeply appreciate your kind words, Tracey. So happy everyone enjoyed the kitchen and the spaciousness of our home! :) We are thrilled that you loved your experience! Thank you for the â â â â â review!
We enjoyed the openness and decor of the kitchen and family room. The beds were comfortable and it was very peaceful and quiet at night. There were plenty of towels, linens and kitchen supplies. We enjoyed and appreciated the quiet and coziness of the home.
The house was clean & comfortable. It was great for everyone to have space. The washer & dryer were a blessing since we were in town for a baseball tournament. The neighborhood was quiet. Thank you for the stay.
Abbie, We are so delighted that you enjoyed your stay and our home! We work hard to meet expectations like yours, and weâre happy to hear we hit the mark for you.
We rented this house to attend a family wedding. We had what we needed to make our stay comfortable. The property makeover in the helpful info book was remarkable. Interested to see what more will be done!
Thank you so much for your thoughtful and wonderful review, Racheal. We really appreciate you taking the time out to share your experience. So happy you enjoyed the comforts of the home! We welcome you back anytime!
We had peaceful, safe stay with my immediate family. We gathered during Thanksgiving when we were feeling uncomfortable with a hotel option. The house is really tucked away, so following GPS might take you on a few wrong turns. (Use owner-provided directions for best route!) We enjoyed the quiet neighborhood, farmhouse Inspired decor, and comfy furnishings. Everything was well-communicated from the owners and we had everything we needed!
It was a unique and cozy home, but some things were misrepresented. The grill listed is not use-able, even when we double-checked with Brandie and she gave us the all-clear. The upstairs bedrooms also don't have a door between and no door to the stairs, so it was less than ideal for two families with small kids. It's more like one bedroom. We found a way to make it work, but we wouldn't stay here again.
While we regret this guest felt we misrepresented our home, we do want to point out that directly under the opening page of this home we say, "Please note that as the house is 4 bedrooms, one bedroom is accessed from another bedroom. " I believe it would be extremely helpful for guests to read about the home before staying in a home. While we're disheartened by the review this guest chose to leave, we wish them well and hope that their next vacation rental may more closely meet their expectations.
Sweet and restful. Kitchen pantry & coffee items were wonderful. For the most part, we found it clean and ready for us. Things we found neglected: trash and dirt under beds, cobwebs in the upper corners and on the kitchen table chandelier, a razor blade in the couch cushion crevice and a dirty napkin too. The sink isn't secured in the counter top either. The screen door is in need of repair/replacement. The GPS location didn't bring us to the correct address and another time it took us in the opposite direction.
Weâre normally known for our exceptional attention to detail, and we regret that we missed the mark. Next time, reach out to us during your stay so we can ensure you have the best stay possible.
The home was very welcoming. We were able to prepare meals for our family using the supplies provided which was a big plus for us feeding 3 kids.
There were a few things that need improvement. The shower curtain liner needs to be replaced badly.
The second bedroom with the full size bed downstairs did not have a proper frame. My father in law who is 70 years old stayed in that room. It was like a balancing act for him to lay on the bed without the mattress flipping to one side. Needless to say he was not comfortable and wound up leaving 2 days early.
We set a high standard for ourselves, and weâre so sorry to hear we fell short in this area. We sincerely regret that this guest was dissatisfied and we were not made aware of their concerns until after their stay. We have never had a complaint about the bedding balance but take any issues very seriously and immediately. We will make sure this is not a problem again.
Les points faibles : Emplacement et exactitude de lâannonce
3/10 stars. We thought weâd give it a try, butâŠ.. the same issues from previous reviews from a while back are still issues. 3 stars for clean sheets, plenty of nice clean towels, cute main floor and neat decorations. Furnished with just the right amount of kitchen and bath supplies. I think there needs to be transparency about the upstairs⊠the âpreserved old wallpaper storyâ (which could probably by sealed for preservation) is falling off the walls and is a bit creepy. I realize itâs hard to keep dust and cobwebs out of an old house, but be transparent on this too and tell people it is a 200 year old house. Railing going upstairs about to fall off the wall. We had to block freezing drafts from under the doors and one hole in the wall that wasn't patched in the utility room from where something was removed. That little bit of sealing up air leaks helped maintain the temperature in the house better. The thick cobwebs between the windows and outer screens looked like the movie Arachnophobia. Still a loose kitchen faucet that is ready to fall off, my husband had to tighten it so it wouldn't get worse and be blamed on our stay. Slight smell of cat in the back laundry and kitchen area. No curtains on main living part of the house. The dead end road was nice, but not in the best neighborhood. The outside siding was dingy and looks run down. Had to make sure we had the right address as it is a stark contrast to the inside pictures. Lots of rooms need repainted.
Although this house can definitely sleep a lot of people, it isn't up to VRBO standards. I would definitely not recommend that children stay here, as there were exposed outlets and wires coming out of the walls. Unfortunately, the shower wasn't working and since there was only one bathroom, that posed a serious problem. The bathroom tile had, what appeared to be, black mold throughout and the water was VERY low. The beds were comfortable and there were lots of them, but it didn't make up for the bathroom situation. Also, there was a very strong urine odor that appeared from time to time in the dining room area.
Note to future occupants: Google maps and Apple maps will not find this address. Also, be sure to bring your own toilet paper.
We sincerely regret that this guest was dissatisfied and we were not made aware of their concerns until this review. Our goal is to provide a clean and welcoming environment and we are committed to making sure that all of our guests are satisfied and comfortable. We are readily accessible by phone, text, and email and maintenance matters are taken seriously and expeditiously resolved once they are reported to us. Our housekeepers are continually praised in our other reviews on many different sites.
Since this review, the bathroom and plumbing has had a complete remodel. Please see the pictures!
While we're disheartened by the review this guest left, we wish them well and hope that their next vacation rental may more closely meet their expectations. We believe the positive sentiments expressed in the other reviews we've accumulated reflect the experiences our guests will continue to enjoy.
We had three generations enjoying our stay in this cozy home.
Plenty of space indoors for crafts and games with the grandkids.
Located in a safe and quite neighborhood the kids had plenty of yard to run around in.
We visited the zoo, Childrenâs Discovery Center, War Air Museum, the state capitol and drove through Topekaâs streets admiring the historical buildings.
Many precious memories were made this vacation.
Beth, Iâm honestly blown away by how lovely this review is. I really appreciate you as one of our customers. Thank you so much for the wonderful review! We hope to have you back!

The small, unassuming home is situated in a quiet, relaxing part of North Topeka, surrounded by nature and quiet neighbors. The sounds of cicadas and crickets filled the air all times of the day during our stay (late-august) and gave a calm atmosphere. The home is clean, cozy, has all the supplies you'd find in your own home, and has an old country charm. The host is kind and gracious and helped our stay feel seamless. Great choice for my family and look forward to staying again in the future.
Dear Kelsey, thanks for leaving us such a wonderful review. We are thrilled that you loved your experience; our staff will definitely be happy to read what you wrote. We put customer experience and satisfaction as our priority, and your review reaffirms the hard work we put in every day. So thanks for your kind words and we look forward to seeing you again.
When we arrived at the house, the first thing we noticed was how dirty the outside of the house and garage was. Gutters that were full of twigs, cobwebs on the siding. It looked really run-down and we were hesitant on going inside. Once we walked through the front door, we were pleasantly surprised. It was a beautiful home. Very cozy and spacious for the 6 of us.
On the dining room table was an album of before and after pictures that the owners had taken while remodeling the house. Those pictures were fascinating! The original house is almost 200 years old! Built in 1825, it has some history to it.
The house had everything we needed for our 3 night stay. There is a nice grocery store nearby so we were able to stock up on what we needed and fill up the fridge.
The bedrooms are quaint, but clean and comfortable. The bathroom is small but functional. The stairs to the upstairs bedrooms is very steep so be careful if you have young kids.
The property owners have a list of rules that they would like followed, and none of them seemed too ridiculous. However, with the cleaning fees that we were charged when I made the reservation, I feel like I shouldn't have to put a load of laundry in the wash, start the dishwasher and take out the garbage.
Quaint little country house that is clean. Kitchen is updated but the remainder needs work.
Contact person easy to reach and had all the amenities needed for our stay. Directions could have been simpler to locate.( ie Lyman, Buchanan to 5th st got us right there) House on a dead end so excluded and felt safe, but wish there were more curtains. Kitchen and bathroom remodeled but the remainder could use updating. Limited resources in Topeka Ks so not sure there are many more options. Loved to see the bird that stayed on its nest each day on the front porch!
We stayed at this property for a girls weekend. We loved the house and had a wonderful time. Brandie was very friendly and always quick to respond to questions. The decor was very tasteful and the inside of the house was clean. The outside could use a bit of TLC (sidewalks swept, windows cleaned, siding washed). The inside was very clean though. We would stay here again!
This is the 2nd time weâve rented Brandiâs place. This time it was for a girls night with a few friends. The remodeling is be beautiful.. we loved it! It had updated/old farmhouse decor, that made the home very comfortable and inviting. It was a total of 8 of us, but only 5 of us stayed the night. We had plenty of room! Definitely would stay here again!
Thank you so much for your kind words, Latoya. We really appreciate you taking the time out to share your experience. We are so glad you enjoyed our 'Farmhouseâ. We count ourselves lucky to have guests like you!

Hey guys, I'm Brandie! I'm 48 and recently decided to slow down my horse show career to stay at home more with my two younger sons and husband. In the past, I spent 42 weeks on the road per year, giving me lots of experience staying at vacation rentals while horse showing. This gave me great insight to understand what people want (or don't want!) while traveling for vacation and/or work. I've started this new chapter to help with income while I spend more time with the kiddos and I love decorating! So this really isn't work for me. I'm a 3rd generation Topekan so I can tell you all the good places to go. I look forward to help make your stay in the midwest wonderful! Thank you for checking out my places and I hope to talk to you soon!
My husband and I have been wanting this house for as long as I can remember. We recently had the opportunity to purchase it. Well taken care of, the same family had lived there for over sixty years, raising all of their children there! We are renting it out from time to time, to fund the purchase of this wonderful place originally purchased from Indians. If you want country charm, you are at the right place.
