5 Star Style and Review, Historical Sears Catalog home with LOTS of room
As you wind along K4, you'll see the country. Quiet roads, a historical home, but the most modern of amenities greet you. Stainless steel double oven, cookware galore, large rooms and wi- fi all make your stay easy to enjoy and offers everyone something to appreciate. Just 15 minutes from anywhere in Topeka.
We had a wonderful stay at this charming historic home in the country. Tricia was very accommodating for several special needs that we had. One of our favorite parts of our stay was spending peaceful hours relaxing on the front porch swing.
Such a peaceful and beautiful setting! Just loved the antique nature of the house while also enjoying the more modern kitchen and bathrooms. Could not have asked for a nicer place to end our week of vacation
My family wholeheartedly enjoyed their stay here! Really gave the country feel along with the beautiful flint hills. The home was perfect with everything they needed in the home! Thank you so much!
Perfect quiet location. Linens and towels were just like home. Cows across the street were so picturesque The farmhouse was the perfect mix of old and newGreat property to unwind!
Beautiful historic farmhouse suited our large family perfectly on our trip back home for the holidays. It provided much needed room for our 5 young kids. They enjoyed the staircase and front porch; and the owner let the kids help gather some farm-fresh eggs for our stay. We hope to stay again on future trips home to Dover.
This was the best place out side of town for us to have our local family come over for Christmas dinner. We haven't all been able to get together for Christmas since we moved to Florida. This is such a beautiful property. Thank you for sharing it with us.The grandkids loved the cows.
Very close to Topeka, KS while still being out in the country. Thus firmer âSears Homeâ and event venue was ideal for our group of 6. I cannot say enough about the friendliness of the manager, Stephanie - she is simply the best. We would strongly recommend this location to anyone.
We liked the property not being busy. We were able to do what we wanted and not have to worry about bothering any one or being bothered. We enjoyed our time together cand had a good time.
Thanks
Dirty cups and dishware needed washing before use. kitchen not well appointed. Main floor double bed mattress needs replacing. No hair dryer found. Definitely not worth almost $400
Per night. Very disappointing
The house and property grounds are beautiful - even much better than in the pictures! We enjoyed the big lawn for sports and lawn games and the nearby pond for fishing. Grandma loved the front porch swing with its beautiful countryside views. The host was extremely helpful and even left us fresh tomatoes from the garden and gave us a tour of the remodeled barn which is now a beautiful event center for weddings or other gatherings that can be rented along with the house. If youâre looking for a country getaway with your family, this place is perfect.
Freshly renovated Sears house (the first I have ever stayed in) on a farm not far from Topeka. Was a wonderful oasis base for our exploration of the Kansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma National Parks.
Full kitchen and gas grill meant we could self cater easily.
Host was friendly and communicative even on 4th of July weekend. Door codes and directions were spot on, though we may have a different definition of curvy road ;)
Would book again!
This home used to belong to my family. The care that the owners put in to remodel and modernize my old family home is nothing short of exquisite! The rooms and bathrooms are just gorgeous! It was a short, but very comfortable stay and felt just like home!
We were looking for a vacation spot in the "country" outside of Topeka, and we found exactly the place we were looking for! I am originally from Topeka, but had never explored the country just west of Topeka. Not only was the house and grounds perfect (literally a few minutes west of Topeka, but felt like we were way out in the country), there were a lot of small towns just a few minutes away with great historical sites to explore, beautiful countryside to drive through, and great small restaurants! We even met the Dover pie lady (about 10 minutes away)!! The owner of this property plans to offer hunting opportunities in the near future. We will definitely be back!
Great country house just a few minutes from Topeka.
We stayed the weekend and loved this place. We ate at Somerset Cafe just 3 minutes away in Dover. We also went into town (about 15 minutes) to eat and for some activities. Great host and great property with lots of room inside and out for family gatherings and games. Nice updated furnishings but with old-time country charm. We saw some wild turkeys in the field across the road. It all made for a fun and relaxing getaway!
When my family & I drove up the driveway we immediately loved the look of the farmhouse & its large wrap around porch. Mike & Stephanie were super nice and went above & beyond to make sure we had a good time while staying at their place. We spent a fun afternoon fishing in their stocked pond. The catfish were biting and everyone, even the littles, got a chance to reel in a fish. We really liked the location because itâs so close to the city of Topeka but itâs in âthe countryâ. Thanks again Mike & Stephanie for all you did for us.
Great sunrises from this early 1900's remodeled farm house. There are chickens and a cow and corn planted around the property. Very authentic!
The host is very accommodating and personally insures that you have everything that you need. I actually left one of my suitcases at the house and she met me at an exit almost an hour from the house.
I really hope that my travels put me back in Kansas so I can stay at this property again.
