I stay at this property now twice a year. Itâs a great place. Itâs close to the ocean and itâs nice and clean and updated has a nice concrete driveway we love this house. Itâs one of my favorites.
This was our 3rd time staying at Tidewatch. The cleanliness and amenities are all anyone could ask for. Because of all the amenities we were able to pack light but still have everything we need. The property owners are great at communicating. The walk to the beach is a breeze. Each time we have stayed there have been improvements to make the visit even more enjoyable. We love the porches and widowâs peak and also had plenty of space to stay entertained during the couple rainy days. the neighborhood is great as well. We will be back! We love Tidewatch!
We had the best time exploring what 12 south had to offer at a super mellow pace. This home was a perfect match for our family of 4. Beds were super comfy and the outdoor amnesties were plenty. There were so many options to access the nature and beauty of this quieter stretch of OBX and we watched the sunrise on the beach every morning. We booked for 2 weeks next year đđąâ€ïž
We loved our first trip to Avon! Super easy access to the beach. Really enjoyed the top deck views and the screen porch was the best! Kitchen was well equipped and had a great seating area for dining and family game night. However, the master bedroom has a very hard mattress and the living room furniture wasn't super comfortable for lounging with family. Overall, great stay! Would definitely stay here again.
We had a wonderful vacation here. The cottage had everything we needed and plenty of room. I loved the screened in area with the swing. The beach was a short walk, not crowded, and beautiful. This was our first trip to the banks and without knowing what area to stay in, we were so happy we ended up in Avon and not Nags Head/Kitty Hawk area. (Too touristy looking and crowded for us) There are plenty of restaurants nearby if you donât want to cook. We also visited the state park, all four light houses, Corolla for the day, and took the ferry to Ocracoke Island. Great trip! Thank for sharing your place.
Our week was extremely chilly and wind between 30-40 mph most every day, and rain a couple of days. The house was great except for 2 things. It would have been nice to have hot water in the outdoor shower, and the living room furniture is very uncomfortable. Since the weather was so bad, we spent more time indoors than we normally would have and comfortable furniture would have been a plus. Overall the location of the house is great and the house is very well stocked with all your necessities.
We could not have been happier with our stay. The house was better than expected. There were multiple upgrades completed to the house to our surprise. The greatest surprise was the outdoor shower. It is HUGE and had hot water. The house has 3 bedrooms: 1 queen, 1 full and a bedroom with a set of full bunkbeds. The bedroom with the queen has a bathroom attached, which was a lovely bonus. My favorite attraction was the screened in porch. My family spent so much time there as we were protected from the late night bugs and afternoon storms. Though this house is not "beach front" you truly have a 50ft walk until you reach the beach board walk. I have been to OBX 5 times. This was by far the nicest beach we've ever experienced. Overall, I can't say enough great things about Tidewatch. The owners were so kind and always let it be known that they were there for anything that we needed. I highly recommend this stay and cannot wait to get back:)
This was our 1st time in OBX, and we wanted a cottage close to the beach. I know when we were looking as to where to say i relied heavily on reviews.
Tidewater is a cute, quiet cottage with everything you need. The beds are comfortable for the most part. Furniture is a little uncomfortable but it didn't matter since the beautiful weather kept us outside most of the time. The overlook on the roof is awesome, you can definitely see the ocean from there, even seen some deer! Be very careful though, it's super slippery when wet. The house was clean, for the most part, dryer didn't work, but clothesline was fine. Outside shower great for rinsing off sand. The bathhouse does have warm water.
As for location, couldn't be more perfect. Beach was a quick and easy walk, it was more crowded than i thought it would be in mid August but it's so wide that there's pleanty of room. I found many neat things during my sunrise walks, such as sharks, jellyfish, shells, and orher things.
Avon is a perfect area, more so for adult's. There isn't much there to keep young kids busy, you'd want to stay more north for activities. The drive to other areas, such as Nags Head, can be an inconvenience for those (like us) who don't want to spend most of the day driving.
We had a wonderful experience and the owners were great with communicating! We definitely plan on staying again next year!
Overall great stay. Location is the best feature, 100 feet to beach walk way, quiet street, Avon is a wonderful town. Owners had great communication and quick to respond. You can tell they are working on continuing updates with the property as they go so I expect it will get nicer and nicer. New Concrete driveway was a big perk that I did not expect as it was not in pictures but it makes hosing down car, kids , kids toys etc from all the sand easy. Mattresses must have been updated from some previous reviews as they were soft and in good shape. Overall pretty updated and nicely decorated house with most things you would need. The one knock on my review was the cleaning crew did not do the best job but it is a pet friendly beach house and quick turnarounds so I do understand. There was some black dog hair left around on mattress sheets / floors and just a general quick clean as there was still dust, liquid stains etc (easily managed). It was a hot week and AC struggled a bit to keep back rooms cool. I would stay again and owners were notified of some of those very minor issues. I will also add that comparative to the pricing of others when looking around I feel the value at this place is great!
We had an amazing stay and will be back, it was the perfect place for our family, and well stocked for cooking meals. It is dog friendly so there was dog hair thru out but we didnât have allergies so it was minor. I miss it already!
The property is clean and comfortable. The ability to hose off the sand before entering was a great plus! The proximity to attractions is convenient but not crowded. The outside porch is fun but there is no water view to speak of. The walk to the beach was short and easy. We were disappointed that there were no beach chairs and only one small umbrella for beach amenities.
This was a great house with just a short walk to the beach and a longer walk to shops and restaurants. The house was clean and well decorated. It was just my wife and me, but we could have brought the family comfortably. The kitchen was well equipped. Overall, perfect for us.
I was so pleasantly surprised with this property!
My first impression was great because it was so clean. Our family of 6 had plenty of space inside and out. We enjoyed the screened porch immensely as well as the rooftop deck. The kitchen had everything I could imagine. After the short trips to the beach we never had to worry about sand in the house because of the outdoor pre-shower rinse then enclosed/private shower. The street is quiet and the neighbors are so polite. I would highly recommend!
The Outer Banks is one of the most laid back vacation spots on the East Coast. It offers great surf fishing and has also become a hot spot for windsurfers with many businesses catering to both of these sports.
