Our family of 4 enjoyed the quiet of Acadia Haven. Close enough to be easy access to the National Park and Bar Harbor but far enough to be away from the hustle and crowds. Our kids loved the room upstairs.
This property was centrally located to all attractions. It was a whole house in a beautiful, woodsy, quiet setting, well stocked with everything you could possibly need during your stay there.
Check it out, you wonât be disappointed!
Peaceful and lovely home in the setting of surrounding woods. Steve was an amazing host! Responsive and quick to make sure we had whatever we asked for. Perfect location to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Super host!
We enjoyed our stay very much. The sunroom was our favorite room. The house was great for the most part. There were a few minor items that needed attention like window shades and toilet seat but overall this was a great place to stay to be close to all the sights and shopping in Bar Harbor/Acadia.
Steve was great to deal with. The property was clean, bright, and quiet. It's a 12-minute, easy drive to Bar Harbor, that allows you to avoid the in-season crowds, while providing access to restaurants and shopping.
The cottage is bright and airy; beautiful custom construction awaits you inside. A wonderful spot to return to after a day outdoors.
A good vacation lodging is not be the star of the show but should subtly enhance your holiday. Acadia Haven does just that. As a bonus Steve and Rose are lovely hosts.
This was the 3rd year we returned to Steve and Rose's lovely cottage. We have already made our reservations for 2022. That tells you how much we value their tranquil, airy, and light-filled cottage. After returning from a day of activity you will enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Steven and Rose are gracious hosts.
Great location-remote but close to Bar Harbor and Acadia
The "cottage is probably a half mile off a major road. Road to the cottage goes through the forest. Far enough off road that no road noise. The owners...Rose and Steve in the "Main House" only a minute away. Woods just behind the cottage. Picnic table with umbrella and gas grill just outside.Lots of windows so nice views. About 15 minutes from Bar Harbor and Park entrance....so remote cottage setting but neighbors nearby.... but close to everything.
I needed a spot safe for a single middle-aged woman that was convenient to all the towns on Mount Desert Island. Acadia Haven. I like homes that lots of light and/or lots of windows and connection to the outdoors. Acadia Haven was perfect. The host was available if I had needed him, which I never did. I wish I could rent for next season, but for the week I wish to be there, it is rented. So, renting the cabin on the same property.
We spent much of our time in the cottage, since the weather was dreary and we were not feeling well. The place is very relaxing and has many amenities that added to the experience - organ, books, and games, sunroom, etc. We were initially perplexed by the mini counter-top oven, but were able to make nice meals and now want one of our own. The downstairs bed was very comfy, and the shower was hot and powerful. We can imagine how beautiful the gardens will be in the summer.
We traveled with our 18 month old. After a bit of babyproofing, the upstairs bedroom was perfect for his play and naptimes.
We look forward to coming back again.
Everything went very well. The home was very well equipped, in fact had more than we expected. We had no problems with checkin, coming and going, and communicating with the owners (who only lived next door). The home was very private (which we loved), yet not far from the activities we engaged in during our stay. Highly recommended and will definitely find this place again any time we go back to Acadia.
This lovely home located in the woods outside of town was perfectly situated for easy access to not only the carriage roads near Eagle Lake, but also to many other great trails, as well as routes to downtown Bar Harbor, Southwest Harbor and Northeast Harbor. At the end of your adventures, you can relax in peace, surrounded by beautiful gardens.
The house is on the same property as another rental and the ownerâs house but there is plenty of space and the location is close to everything we wanted to do on Mount Desert Island. We werenât able to personally meet the owners but itâs clear they put a lot of thought and care into their property. Would definitely recommend!
This is the second time we stayed here and plan on a third visit in 2023. We love the location; quiet and woodsy yet close to everything. The house has everything you could need and is so comfortable. We love the yard, garden, porch, and having a washer and dryer. The owners are terrific and helpful if you need them.
Acadia Haven is a perfect location for a coastal get away off season. Close enough to Bar Harbor for a little shopping and access to the park but far enough away to enjoy quiet and peaceful evenings. Steve and Rose are very responsive to any unexpected needs. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Steve and Rose are just the best. Wonderful people, responsive and friendly. The house was perfect, clean and comfortable. Plenty of space for our family on a beautiful wooded property and an excellent jumping off point for the island. We always love staying with them!
Rose and Steve Demers have lived in Bar Harbor for over 30 years, and there's nowhere we'd rather be! We'll be staying at another home on the 4 acre property, so if you have any questions or concerns while here, we are available to help in any way we can.
This property has been treated with much love over the years. It is bright and cheery, with lots of sunlight and close and distant woodland views coming through expansive windows. After busy days in downtown Bar Harbor, exploring Acadia National Park, relaxing at the beach, or world-class sailing or whale-watching, you'll love returning to this peaceful, private retreat with your family.
This home is a tranquil sanctuary to relax and enjoy filtered woodland views, and quiet evenings.. With large windows and hilltop breezes, you'll stay cool at night.
