The house was perfect for 2 family stay. We loved everything about it but especially was impressed with the host's attention to details - a basket with mosquito sprays, reading glasses, umbrellas, craft supplies and some toys for kids - all created a lovely cozy atmosphere in the house. The house has AC, laundry, fire pit, and everything you need for a nice stay. Highly recommend.
The house is well maintained and easily accessible. The pull through driveway makes having 2 vehicles easy to manage. Having bedrooms both upstairs on the main floor and downstairs in the finished basement gives lots of sleeping options. Our hostess was quickly responsive to communication and very friendly. The front garden is lovely and our friendly snowshoe hare visited us often.
Property is a quaint house, with easy access and a nice yard to enjoy, especially if you enjoy sitting by a fire pit.
Host is very easily contacted and nice to work withâŠ
Would definitely consider staying there again if we are back in the area..
Well-kept, comfortable and charming house! We loved the deck and the firepit, and our young adult sons loved having the lower level as their space. Well-appointed kitchen, clear instructions, communicative host. We absolutely loved it and would definitely stay here again.
This property was exactly as described in the listing. It was the perfect location and stay for our son's Maine wedding. Location is great for sightseeing and exploring the beautiful state of Maine.
We really enjoyed the place. The location was a center point for all our travels. The place was very well stocked. We had everything we needed to enjoy our meals there. Linens were plentiful. I would definitely recommend staying here.
Access to many cute towns in under an hour, close to Acadia National Park, and tucked away into the woods for a sense of privacy in nature! Only struggle was keeping the place cool enough... but it was definitely unseasonably warm.
Very comfortable and clean cabin. Exactly as represented on the web site. Owner answered our questions within a few hours. Nicely kept yard and deck area also.
The house was great! Out of the way but near to Castine, a beautiful little coastal town/village. We loved kayaking in the bay! It's a bit far from Acadia (an hour or so), but certainly close enough for a day trip. Tons of space, and a really nice kitchen, outside deck, and fire pit! Would definitely stay here again!
We had a great time here! Katrina was great at communicating the details we needed to know about. The house was clean and my wife said it smelled great. It was a great home away from home! It was close enough to Acadia, yet far enough away from the crowds. It was also fun exploring the local community. We'd gladly stay here again in the future!
Plenty of room inside and out was perfect for our three generation get-away. Grands enjoyed catching (and releasing) fireflies during our evening campfires. Cozy home in a quiet area for relaxing after our busy days in Acadia and Bar Harbor...or just for relaxing with a good book and a cup of coffee!
This house is a great setup for families with kids and dogs! Ample linens and kitchen supplies to allow families to cook their own meals.
The house is older, but clean and functional. The kids loved the extra den space downstairs.
The setting is quiet and away from crowds - just what we wanted. About 15 minutes to groceries and restaurants, an hour to Acadia, making it a great 'home base'. The fire pit outside was a nice bonus.
Will definitely look to stay again if we return to the area!
The house is set up nicely. Everything we needed was there. Plenty of space for teens to be downstairs with their own nice space. We loved the nice kitchen. Nice deck, lovely yard, flowers, greenery, canât see the neighbors unless you really try. Everything worked as it should. We had a very nice time.
We had a great stay. House is well appointed and had everything we need. It was unseasonably hot while we were there so the a/c u it had trouble keeping up but we were sure glad the house had a/c as most in mid-coast do not. Nice area and close to Acadia and Ellsworth.
This house was exactly as promised in a semi rural area near a wonderful little town (Castine). If you want to be in the middle of all the chaos go to Bar Harbor but if you want a nice home in a quiet area this is a great choice. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
Our family of 8 enjoyed our visit to Maine and the home on Castine Rd. We visited Acadia for 2 days and enjoyed a visit to Castine. We loved our afternoon at Back shore beach at low tide. The home was very comfortable and spacious for our family and well stocked with essentials. We enjoyed eating lobster on the deck. Katrina provided so much helpful information and was so easy to communicate with. We had a very peaceful and relaxing stay.
We had a wonderful stay at this lovely, neatly kept home. Plenty of space for the kids to spread out and play, and a terrific, well supplied fire pit to enjoy. Katrina's communication was great, and was very accessible.
Cozy house! Had a few hot days but air conditioning did a good job on first floor. Bottom floor was on cooler side and fine with fans. Only disappointment was the grill racks were rusty so we didnât feel we could grill . Location was good in between location for everything we wanted to do. Acadia was only 1 hr away. A lot to do in the area and host was welcoming!
Strongly recommend this house as your choice if staying in the Castine, ME area. The house was clean (a major priority!), priced appropriately, very comfortable and is convenient to Castine & surrounding areas (Bar Harbor, Bangor, Searsport, Freeport, etc) We (two couples in our early 60's) loved the town of Castine - enjoyed outstanding meals at Dennett's Wharf and Pentagoet Inn Restaurant. Spent one day exploring Bar Harbor & Acadia NP - highly recommend! Another day took a trip to Gray ME (Maine Wildlife Park - a surprisingly delightful sanctuary) and Freeport (LL Bean). Third day enjoyed driving to little towns along the coast between Castine & Rockport - scenic and pleasant drive. The owners, the Dagans, were easy to contact, very informative when planning the trip and provided a fabulous lodging experience. GO. STAY. ENJOY!!!

This is a great house to stay in while you visit Maine. This location is close to Castine, Bucksport, Blue Hill and other small coastal towns such as Deer Isle and Brooklin. You will enjoy scenic drives as you explore the Maine Coast. There are lots of places nearby to hike and enjoy nature. The house is 45 minutes north of Belfast and 45 minutes south of Bar Harbor and the spectacular Acadia National Park.
I would like to let you know that I personally clean my property after each stay except for a few times in the summer when I am away. At this time a trusted friend cleans that understands my standards and expectations. I do not use a cleaning service. This is how I cleaned before the Corona Virus outbreak and this is how I will continue to clean after it for your safety and comfort. -All bath towels are white so they are washed in hot water and bleach. -All bed linens are washed in hot water -We have a dishwasher for kitchenware so it is sanitized in hot water -All floors are steam mopped -Hard surfaces are cleaned with disinfectant wipes or spray -I use organic cleaners and soaps whenever possible such as Method Antibac -All commonly touched items are cleaned after every stay (doorknobs, lightswitches, remotes) -If you find something is not to your satisfaction, please let me know.
