Profiter de l'intérieur, aménagement créatives colorés et se termine ce compliment et résonner la beauté de l'autre côté de la porte. En dehors de profiter d'une grande cour avec beaucoup de Running Room pour les enfants de tous les âges. Terrasses et vérandas amples fournissent sièges Surround pour les images et les sons de la nature. Chaque saison est titulaire d'une raison de profiter Lair Bear. Profiter de l'intérieur d'une cheminée à bois, table de billard, WIFI et plusieurs téléviseurs. En dehors de montrer vos talents de grillades, de prendre le temps pour jouer regard et profiter du bain chaud à l'extérieur. House in need of tlc

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Been coming here for 16 years and always hard to see house not being kept up better. The living room furniture needs replaced and the area rug needs a good cleaning. The beds would be so much better if foam toppers or something could be used to make them less hard. The pool table room had patches all over it but was never repainted. The back deck furniture is filthy. We love the location and have so many beautiful memories here. Hoping some tlc can restore this house to its former glory bc it has so much potential.

Peaceful & comfortable beds

Only issue was the lack of A/C.—and the liivingtoom furniture is broken down and needs to be replaced.

Only stayed an hour

First let me say the area is beautiful! And the house could be so nice if it was given some TLC. But it was not worth what we paid for it. When we walked in the house it smelled very musty. The property pictures that are shown online are accurate however the property was very dirty. It needed a good deep clean in every room. We pulled back the sheets in the master bedroom and there was what looked like dog hair all over the sheets. Spider webs throughout the house, holes in the ceiling & a musty smell all over. The back deck chairs were so dirty with dirt & moss all over them, you could not even sit on them. There was no place else to sit in the back other than those chairs.Apparently this house is a non-ac unit house. I was 100% unaware of that when I booked the home for our family vacation. Usually I do not run into issues with VRBO but under amenities it did not list A/C and I did not even think to look for that. Normally, under description in bookings it list any important information that anyone needs to know. We were under an extreme heat warning and there was no way my family could stay and tough it out. Just in the hour we were there I was dripping sweat. THANKFULLY the Best of Cannon was able to move us to a different location right away that had AC and was a very clean beautiful house. The girl that helped me at Best of Cannon was very patient with me and got us taken care of immediately. My family was so appreciative!

Another nice stay

Perfect for Family

We had a great stay at Bears Lair. Our family of 8 (4 kids, 4 adults) loved how open the downstairs was. It was perfect to hang in different spots and still be able to all mingle. House is conveniently located at base of Mountian just inside Old Timberlines gate. If you like to fish theres 2 beautiful lakes and 2 ponds to fish on.The only thing I can say could be updated are the photos online. Pictures show a room witb 2 bunks perfect for 4 siblings 3-8. Kids were super excited, and sadly disappointed when we arrived and no bunks. This however, was a minor thing.

Ford's Paradise

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We spent the weekend at Bear Lair. There was continuous snow and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the cold weather. We spent time skiing at Timberline, tubing and ice skating at Canaan, and sledding at Black Water Falls. This home was in the perfect location for it all. This is an older home with easy access and tons of room. Our dog, Ford, had a wonderful time exploring the large yard and looking out the large windows. We enjoyed sitting by the fire watching it snow, but this house had a fantastic heating system. The hot tub was a popular spot after a day of winter sports. The owners are currently working on updating the property. Overall, it was clean but needs a good spring cleaning. This won't be our only trip to Bear's Lair and we sure do appreciate the owners sharing their home with us.

Secluded

We were there in late October. Leaves were bright, and falling beautifully. We couldn't see any neighbors. Loved that. The house was clean and cozy warm. There were deer in the yard. Had a great time. Playing pool and putting together puzzles and playing cards. Enjoyed Mama Mia's restaurant. Try the Big Timber beer.

Should be a beautiful cabin, but isn't

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Generally fine. This poor cabin is in desperate need of fixing up. Missing siding, missing screens, ceiling and floor damage inside. The layout is great, the location is ideal, but the owners really need to put just minimal effort into taking care of the place. The hot tub is unusable so don't plan on it. None of the controls work and it's stuck on a heat setting that is way too hot to enjoy. The pool table is uneven and only has a single cue that is even slightly straight. We had to do some cleaning when we got there as it clearly hadn't been used in a while. Cob webs and dust. The beds are every bit as hard as described in other reviews. The pictures in the listing are dated, TVs and so forth have been upgraded. Does not have cable, but does have some basic form of streaming. Very secluded and quiet lot. It appears this cabin is owned by someone who doesn't want to or can't pay to have repairs done so they try to do it themselves (poorly) and clearly haven't had time or desire to get them done. There was tarps covering some removed siding and a previous water leak the damage from which had not been repaired. Big place, big rooms, everything except the hot tub worked, just be prepared for what was once a beautiful place that is in desperate need of TLC. Felt bad for it honestly. It just needs someone to love it, and clearly the owners don't. Given the price and ideal location I guess it's worth it? Wouldn't stay again unless someone fixes it up. Best of Canaan is great to work with, that entire experience was top notch.

The 2 main bedroom suites & the 3rd & 4th bedrooms have a shared connected bathroom were perfect for the 6 of us. We loved the front & back decks & firepit. The huge laundry room came in handy. No air conditioning was surprising but it wasn’t bad. I couldn’t find a hose to spray off the dirty outdoor chairs. I loved bringing my pup. Awesome location too.

Great Place to Stay in West Virginia!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed at Bear’s Lair for 3 nights in March 2024. Upon arriving, we were blown away at how cute and cozy the house was. There was plenty of space for 3 couples! The house was situated close to the main road, but there was minimal noise excluding the wildlife that frequented the yard. The house was situated close to enough to Davis and the state parks such that it was only a maximum of a 15 minute drive anywhere! Everything was lovely and clean. We definitely recommend staying here!

Bears lair

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have stayed here several times but each year it gets more run down. The roofing has TVEK pieces on it. The furniture needs to be updated. The ottoman is still really gross and putting a blanket on it doesn't make it better. I know these homes are hard to maintain but little things can go a long way. Hope the owners get a handle on the repairs.

Pool table and hot tub was a hit. The property was a bit "tired", and unfortunately was a bit dirty when we arrived (really the kitchen/dining room - bathrooms and bedrooms were sparkling), but other than that was a great place and we'd likely return.

We loved the wood burning fireplace in the cozy LR & especially loved being so close to Dolly Sods for some great hikes. Highly recommend. . We would definintely go back!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house overall was ok. Some of the issues we had was the furnace for the living room and kitchen broke down the 2nd night. The hot water tank for the main bedroom and upstairs bedroom only lasted long enough for 1 and 1/2 showers. The hot tub was just hot water, no jets. The house needs a little upkeep.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I was disappointed in the house. Some construction was going on and it was not in the best condition. Several outlets in the house did not work. The family room smelled musty. Overall, the house and furniture felt old and used! When I opened the windows to get some air in the house, the casings were full of dirt. I had to clean them all out before I left the windows open. The fan in the family room only worked part time.

Nice location and property

Decent property had a very nice stay,my granddaughter loved it.She made friends with the big bear stuffed animal,she cried when we left because she didn’t want to leave him.My only complaint would be we would’ve liked to know about the canoe you can use no one told us until we asked another visitor who was on the dock by then it was our last night and it started to rain.Also you pay a $65 fee for the hot tub which doesn’t even work got in and rite back out very disappointed.Other than that we had an awesome time thank you so much for sharing your property with us.😊

The house could use some updates and some TLC. The owners appear to be slowly working on the property. The house was stocked with everything we needed. The management company was absolutely wonderful! They were friendly, helpful, and attentive. Would definitely recommend renting through Best of Canaan.

Amazing Location with a Caveat

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We rent from Best of Canaan because of the community and access to Dolly Sods. The grandkids love fishing in the little lakes, the dog loves running around, and we all love the quick access to some of the best Dolly Sods hiking (high ground so no mud!). It’s a great place to chill and explore.The big negative: the house was so dirty. The dishes in the cabinets were dirty, there was human hair literally on dishes and in pots. Hair stuck on the chairs and sofas that a quick vacuum would take care of. Mice droppings in the kitchen drawers. The kind of dust that shows neglect on wall hangings, furniture. So I’m torn. We LOVE the location and the basic vibe of the house, and I’m not a germaphobe—we had our dog and grandkids—we get messy too. But this was just neglect, which is frustrating to see given the house’s potential. The bathrooms were clean. I would recommend to a friend but be honest about the condition of the place.

Great Trip for a Group of a Friends!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Even without AC, this house was overall a great place to be. I love the layout of the house and how comfortable the furniture is. The place DOES smell like dog, especially some of the beds, so make sure to have air freshener and plenty of laundry detergent to try to wash out the smell! Also, the hot tub is small (fits 4 comfortably) so be mindful of that. Many of the outlets do not actually work when you try to plug in devices. Otherwise, this place was a perfect getaway and close to many cool sites like Blackwater Falls! Would definitely visit again. :)
