's it. Just WOW! As if the view weren't reason enough to stay, step inside and the reasons to be there "On the Rocks" are adding up fast! Sitting high on mountainside this home offers lots of well-thought-out extras. Plan to prepare a meal or two in the recently renovated “fit for a chef” kitchen. There is plenty of entertainment with multiple TV’s and WIFI.! Pack a book or bring along a movie to enjoy an evening nestled by the fireplace. There are so many reasons to be inside, yet so many more to take it outside. Out the front door it’s a short walk to Dolly Sods. Out the back door and WOW, the view, the hot tub, the dining area…you are going to love it right there On the Rocks! Winter visits will DEFINITELY require 4-wheel drive vehicles. No exceptions!

Great stay!

Beautiful house with amazing views! Hot tub worked great! 2.4 miles to Timberline’s parking lot up a twisty mountain road - our Honda CRV with All Wheel Drive slipped on snow several times, but the skiing was great.

Great skiing weekend

The kitchen is fully equipped, making meal preparation easy. The view is beautiful. The house is comfortably furnished. Everyone enjoyed the time there. Given that it had just snowed, 4-wheel drive vehicles were necessary to get to the house and use the driveway.

I would absolutely recommend this home, it was clean, the location was magical, and the description is very accurate.

Beautiful views

1st tip: book directly with property company to save money. Someone charges 10% more through VRbO. The views are incredible, but to get to those views you will definitely need 4 wheel drive in the winter. The property was clean. All beds comfortable but the bunk beds do need fixed as they are very shaky. Some stools need fixed in the kitchen as well. The hot tub is amazing. We would definitely stay here again!

Spring break trip

We had a wonderful stay with our kids, and 2 other groups of friends and their kids. The house set up was perfect for 3 families with kids, and was spotless when we arrived. The views were amazing, and we were able to watch 3 beautiful sunsets from the living room and deck during our stay. We loved that the house was also in close proximity to several hiking locations. It did seem like we picked an off time to visit with many stores or restuarants being closed, but still had a great time. Already looking to book another stay at On The Rocks!

Everyone in our family — kids and adults — loves this house, with its incredible views and easy access to Dolly Sods, some of the best hiking anywhere. Best of Canaan also is always good to work with; we have used them for other houses in the past. We love Canaan Valley and know we will be back!

Christmas Gathering at Canaan

"ON THE ROCKS" was the perfect gathering place for my 3 generation family for Christmas this year! First let me comment that the pictures did not do this property justice--it was spacious, comfortable, and, most importantly, had that open kitchen area to where all the family gravitated. The house was immaculately clean and supplied with all the basics my family needed. The fact that there was very little snow in the area did not deprive us from enjoying the nearby sledding slopes, ice skating, hiking areas as well as the incredible vistas from the home's scenic location. We even had a rainbow the day we left to encourage us to return!

It was well stocked, had a nice layout with two separate larger hang out areas, and the views were lovely. We enjoyed the hot tub very much as well! You definitely need a four wheel drive, but they said as much in the listing. There is a parking lot at the base where we left an extra car and we shuttles the non-four wheel drive friends up the mountain. We have already booked it again for next winter.
