The stay was overall good other than it being very hot in the apartment. I did message the host a few times and it still never got cool in the apartment.
Had a wonderful time staying at this location in the historic Hyde Park neighborhood! Vachetta was a very helpful host and quick to respond to all communications I had. The apartment was very spacious and had everything we needed to accommodate our stay. While we didn't have a vehicle at our disposal, there looked to always be plenty of parking near the residence. We were able to access all forms of public transportation quickly and getting to downtown was a breeze. One of the crown jewels of this location is the proximity to one of the pedestrian bridges that takes you to the Lake Michigan shorefront with miles and miles of trails and parks and beaches...an absolute gem! Would definitely recommend this location to others.
We absolutely loved the apartment! It was huge with plenty of room for our two kids and ourselves. The property owner made sure we had a pack and play and bassinet for our youngest which made traveling by plane so much easier. The place was clean and the neighborhood was great. Right near everything we needed without being stuck downtown. Even with street parking we never had to worry about getting a spot close if not right in front of the gate. Check in and check out was a breeze and we werenât stuck doing a huge list of chores just to walk out the door. We would definitely stay there again!
Unit was very nice and spacious. Communication with owner throughout my stay was excellent.
I will definitely consider this unit again my next trip to Chicago.
We are not far from Chicago, but we wanted to stay near for a 3 day event in the area. Our code did not work at check-in but the property manager was very quick to respond so that we could get inside. We did not have any issues with the property; the location was central to where we needed to go and eat, the property was clean and it was quiet around the unit. We did have 4 children under 10 with us and were told the day of check-in that there was an older man that lived below and not to run down the hallways. While I totally understand that, it was very hard to tell children to be quiet and it made me paranoid that we were being too loud (mind you we really only slept there, we were gone during the days) In the future, it would've been helpful to know this information and know what floor the unit was on just since we had kids with us. I had to continually shush them and in my future rentals, I'll definitely make note of questions to ask beforehand.
My mom wanted to celebrate her birthday in Chicago, and with 5 of us going, it made sense to book a VRBO instead of trying to get multiple hotel rooms. First of all, when booking, had to pay a 59 damage protection fee (or else you get charged some ungodly amount for a security deposit). Next, the check in process was extremely vague and made it difficult to access the property. When we entered the condo, the temperature was set to 79, not a huge deal, if you could adjust itâŠ.they had to locked out so we had to have our AC monitored the entire weekend and we had to consistently reach out to the owners to lower the temperature because they would not leave the setting alone. Very weird. The WiFi information was present anywhere, but with us being monitored for the AC, I wasnât in the most trusting mood to reach out for the WiFi stuff either. Multiple air vents were busted up, the dining room chairs were either in poor condition or about to fall apart. The living room had a projector and a tv, along with a surround sound system, pretty cool sounding huh? NOT! Nothing was simple about how to turn any of it on, or to get any of it to work cohesively. Not like we went to Chicago to watch TV, but with it being part of the unit, you would expect it to be at least functional. The mattresses on the beds were very uncomfortable. Only a couple bathroom light fixtures worked. Leftover food sitting on the counter as well. Didnât really feel welcome staying here with the limitations.
There was some little things about the VRBO we did not enjoy. The central air is motion sensored and you have to message the manager to get it turned up or down. This made sleeping uncomfortable sometimes or coming back after a day exploring the city. The house is in a nice location with easy access to many things. The beach looks beautiful that is within walking distance. The Kitchen is very nice.
