Absolutely an amazing vacation. Such a peaceful atmosphere. The house fit our family of 6 very well. We enjoyed kayaking, crabbing, swimming and just relaxing on the beach. We look forward to coming back again!
Beautiful property with backyard access to the beach! The home is spacious with breathtaking views of the water. Kid friendly and well stocked with games. The layout of the home worked well for my family. Loved it!
We had family in town for a graduation and although we live relatively close, we didn't have room for everyone so we were happy to find this house. We had a great stay and really enjoyed being on the water! The view was beautiful and we had fun bird watching from the back deck with the scope. We went kayaking and it was easy to launch from the backyard. We appreciated access to a grill (charcoal) and crab pot (didn't use but would have if we weren't so busy). Charcoal and lighter fluid was supplied but we bought more to replace what we used. The kitchen had everything we needed and was well stocked. It tasted like the water was from a well so we bought drinking water but it really wasn't a problem. Just picky water drinkers in our family :)The owner David was fantastic and communication was quick and easy! We had a small hiccup on check-in (make sure you have the instructions before you arrive just in case) but David took care of it quickly and answered any questions or concerns promptly during our stay. He was even so nice to mail us an item we left behind. The location is nice and quiet but keep in mind it's about 15 min to the nearest town (Gloucester) and about 45 min. to Newport News or Williamsburg. It's easy to get around but be sure to leave plenty of time in case of traffic or bridge openings (the Coleman Bridge).Overall, I highly recommend staying here and would stay here again should the occasion arise. You can't beat the water view and access! A
When we left the property after a 4-day stay, we received a $600 charge from the owner/David due to outside chairs that was damaged.
When we arrived to the property, we noticed a broken outside chair, as well as extremely well-worn out and outdated furniture throughout the rest of the house.
When we reached out to the owner about the $600 in extra charges, the owner insisted that there were no damages prior to our arrival. With security cameras on the property, the owner could have easily checked them prior to charging us for this damage, and further insisting that it was us when my husband tried to clear things up.
The owner eventually recanted indicating it was the previous renter that cause that damage and other damages that we weren't even aware of (but charged for). A sincere apology would have been nice! Very disrespectful and unprofessional interaction.
That along with the laundry list of the "to do checkout items" from the on-site booklet was a headache! Recommend that the owner take the time to actually manage his own property, vice expecting that the renters do it for him.
