Vacation on the Comal

The location and condo were perfect for our family of 4. The property was located close to shopping and right on the river. Plenty to do and see but still quiet and peaceful. We will definitely be back.

Great stay on the river

Great place to stay if you want to float the river. 15min walk to the public entrance and private exit right back at the condo. Condo is very nice and a great place to relax during the heat of the day.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This gem is perfectly located on the Comal River with a beautiful view from the balcony. The A/C works really well, and the kitchen is well stocked with most of all the utensils you need to cook. The beds are very comfortable and there are plenty of pillows and blankets. Access to the river is a few steps away, and the complex is less than a minute walk from the last public river exit.We’ve stayed here before and will continue to for our yearly river trips.

Great Location/ Very busy area

Nice place, would stay again. Definitely need a large trash bin for kitchen area. Would also encourage housekeeping to check fold out bed before rapping up- the mattress protector was filthy. Most tubes were still inflated (2 were inflated upon arrival and deflated by morning). As far as the overall place- it’s pretty nice. My family enjoyed the stay!

River trip to remember

Myself, my boyfriend, my sister and her best friend with our kiddos 14, 13, 12 and 9 all stayed in one of the condos backing up to the Comal. We came down to float and anticipated some of the struggles of that, like coordinating with a river outfitter for getting on and off, reviewing the rules of the Comal, making sure the kids had as good a time as the over 21 crowd would and safely. What we learned is that the Comal and this condo simplifies IT ALL!!! No outfitter needed. Condo so close no cooler was necessary. Need a bathroom break or a snack...no problem. The condo was literally a staircase and a couple parking spaces away from the river exit. Better than that even... the entrance was just across the street and a very short walk; less than 5 minutes. To the chutes was about 10-15 minutes carrying our tubes. We only did that once and were completely ok with it. We LOVE the Guadalupe river float trips, but they can sometimes be a beat down if you arent correctly prepared, but NOT here! It is fool proof. Everything was easy and enjoyable for all. Bring your own tubes and you are ready to go. Float once, twice or 7 times it is up to you. Already planning our next trip.

The condo was clean and comfy. You can tell they updated a few areas. The view was perfect!! The only complaint is the lighting in the bathrooms. Great place to stay for you’re floating g the river!

Clean resort

We enjoyed our stay here, plenty of room for everyone including a extra fold out bed. Location was great and the facility was clean, including the pool area. The bathroom was a little outdated but useable. Beds were comfy. I would recommend this place.

Reviewer Comments: While the pictures portray a newly remodeled unit, the condo needs attention - only 4 forks in kitchen, several remotes had dead batteries, no batteries in makeup mirror in bathroom, beds were very uncomfortable.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The unit B212 was average at best. Clean but needs updating badly. Very poor lighting in all rooms except the kitchen. Not even a table lamp in the living room. The worst was the king master bed. It was old, broken down, hard and sagged. The bed linens did not fit at all. Very bad bed.Plumbing fixtures needed work as soon as we got there. The guest toilet was loose on the floor, shower doors old and in bad working order.Just not a good unit. There was a nice wine cooler in the kitchen, it froze everything that was not liquer. Needless to say we used the fridge for our wine. After renting in the Warnecke complex for years, it was the worst unit we have experienced. We found an updated unit through another agent that we have stayed with for years. Should have never left her units.

We appreciate guests input and reviews as they help us to improve our services. Our goal at River City Resorts is to ensure that our guests enjoy their stay and we are more than happy to assist our guests with any issues. It is helpful that our guests notify us of any concerns as we in the office are not utilizing the property ie., storing wine, sleeping on the beds, etc. We would have sent out maintenance to check on the wine frig and would have gladly brought you a floor lamp for the living room during your stay had we been given notice. We will now notify the owner of your concerns in regards to the master bed and lighting issues. Had you called during your stay, we could have addressed your needs and the owner possibly could have ordered a new bed. We do hope that in the future that you find your perfect winter home!

Filed a police report and they led me to believe that there is a continuing problem with that. We are sorry to hear that the items you left outside of your condo were stolen. Unfortunately during this pandemic, with citizens not able to work, crime has risen. It is always wise to lock vehicles and to put personal property inside the condo or on your own private balcony at night. We are glad that you did enjoy the great views of the Comal River and enjoyed our January 2021.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We did not visit during the summer but this is still a great off season location. Kitchen is filled with plenty of pots and pans for cooking. Silverware need some restocking but cooking utensils seem to be plentiful. Covered parking, walk right out to tubing, Schlitterbahn is across the street, close to restaurants and shopping. Balcony could be larger but is a great place to sit and watch the deer up close! The place appears to be recently redone with new appliances! Maybe needs new sheets (one had a hole) towels are a little rough, Every bed needs a new mattress! Easy check in, you have to be sure to call to check out and not be charged.

Just a few weeks offseason is the PERFECT time to float! We will make sure to find the sheet that had a hole in it and remove it from the linen pool. We appreciate either texting or calling at check out to verify guest's departure so that housekeeping now has access to clean. Camp Warnecke has been recently updated and has a gorgeous kitchen and Master bath!

I felt like there needed to be more then one spot to dispose the garage. I was sad to see several visitors from the river would come onto the property and dump there trash at the spot where you could enter and exit the river from where we stayed. I really appreciated the security that was on hand in the resort area.

We will let security know of your concerns. The garbage is only on one location at Camp Warnecke and unfortunately, floaters will stop and attempt to put trash out where they can find to do so, which is better we suppose than dumping it in the river. Glad that otherwise you had a great experience.
