Great location

Great place to stay in a great location on the river. Nice, clean and plenty of room in the condo. Large balcony overlooking the pool. Short walk to the river with outstanding sitting areas in the current. My son had a great time chasing and catching small fish.

My only advice is to bring paper towels and clothes soap as those are not provided.It is a wonderful place to stay, and the grounds are well kept, and there is lots of security keeping the rift raft out.

Thank you for allowing us to host you! We do provide at least 1 roll of paper towels in all of the condos we manage and advise guests prior to arrival to bring additional wants like laundry soap. We love the 5's and are happy to hear that J203 was a wonderful place to stay!

Couples trip

The stay was decent, however, it was extremely hot as the ac was not allowed to be turned down below 72 degrees. We were cooking on the stove and the oven glass just fell out onto one of our friends’ feet. The wrong gate code to the pools was given to us and we were unable to access the pools for several hours as our email and phone call went unanswered for several hours.

As noted in all of our communications, we kindly remind guests that the AC should not be set below 72°F, especially during the intense Texas summer heat, as it can cause the system to freeze. We appreciate your understanding on this. We're glad we were able to assist you with the pool code early the next morning. Please note that pool access and code changes are managed by the HOA, and unfortunately, we do not have control over those updates. Thank you for bringing the issue with the oven glass to our attention. Had we been made aware sooner, we would have been happy to send our maintenance team over right away. Clear and timely communication is something we highly value, as it helps us ensure the best possible experience for all our guests. We appreciate your feedback and will continue to grow and improve!

Great location

Great location, close to the river and schlitterbahn. Very clean, comfortable beds. Comfortable living space except two side chairs that were hard as rocks. Great communication with the property manager. Only complaint is that there were very few cooking supplies. Only one frying pan, a cookie sheet and some sauce pans. and just a couple cooking utensils. Was difficult to cook for a family with limited supplies.

Great Condo in a Great Location

The Waterwheel Condo overlooks one of the pools, and the resort sits on the banks of the Guadalupe River, is in walking distance of the Comal River, and is a short driving distance to downtown New Braunfels and Gruene. The condo is very spacious, nicely furnished, and clean. We had a great time and hope to return one day.

Right next to the river

We appreciated having the river right next to us as well as the pool location, and that the unit had many river tubes for us to use. Only downside as there was no real enforceable way to ensure parking was enforced, as the first day my spot was taken by another car. Had to park in a blank space instead until the next day when the car left.

Sofa and kitchen were ok but side living room chairs were like sitting on a rock. Spacious deck and the beds were comfortable. Rental agency was easy to deal with and we got in like a charm. Access to river different and enjoyable.

Problems from the beginning

The booking was confused. And required multiple conversations, the condo was not stocked...not even 8 plates as the booking was for. No soap for w/d, no bath supplies, not many pots or cooking supplies..not even baggies or salt and pepper. We have stayed at this condo site twice before..both were with the same exact group and the other condos were amazing and no issues...we will look for another venue next year.

Plenty of Space & Good Access

The property was easy to find & our condo was conveniently located near the elevator. It had good (Guadalupe) river access. The condo itself was very clean and spacious and decently stocked with what we needed. We also had convenient access to 1 of the pools and 2 of the hot tubs. The spacious balcony and table were great--used it to dry items and to eat dinner one night. Our only "complaints" aren't directed at our individual condo or its owner, but at the entire complex. There were plenty of empty (unmarked) parking spots, but only 2 parking passes (we had 3 vehicles). We wished there was an easier way to the river for our guests with mobility issues. If the property included a driving path, that would be perfect. And lastly, the pool and at least 1 of the hot tubs really needed to be cleaned. They were cloudy and smelled. But we would definitely stay here again.

Spacious, Clean and Convenient

There was only one frying pan so I had to use a pot as a 2nd pan when cooking breakfast. The pool in front of the balcony is very very small but it is convenient and there is a larger pool toward the river. We didn't realize there were free tube rentals available until we got our check out instructions. I had to call the office because we were short 2 bracelets and the girl who answered was extremely nice, but the lady who brought them was extremely rude. Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend this property.

We are glad that you found the unit spacious, clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, inner tubes are no longer offered by River City Resorts as of 2021. We checked with the staff that brought the wrist bandstands and she stated that when she brought the wristbands to the condo, that no-one answered the door, so she she went to the courtyard pool to see if the guests were there. She found the gentlemen of the party poolside with several children and personally handed over the wristbands. She did say that none of the party had the property wristbands on (which they did have 6) and that she told them they needed to go upstairs and put them on. We are glad that you had a great experience and would recommend this property!

Our stay at Waterwheel J 203

Reviewer Comments: This is our 3rd time visiting New Braunfels and our 2nd stay at Waterwheel with River City Resorts. Our stay was good but the condo could use some attention. There is peeling paint in master bath, cooking pans warped and not enough glasses for 6-8 guests. The guest bath had hair we cleaned around the base of wall and toothpaste all inside the medicine cabinet. There was food under the couch and dust on the dresser and nightstands in master bedroom. The pillows need to be replaced,ice maker is loud and doesn't work well and the pot holders needed to be washed before being used. There is no dresser/ chest for clothing in bedroom with 2 beds. We have stayed with River city resorts before and will use them again in the future but this unit was not what we experienced with them in the past.

Nice stay

Nice size condo, we had the 3 BR enough room for 5. I'd say it's too small for 8 people even though it says it could sleep 8. Hot tubs nice, pool by river is heated which was a bonus. We enjoyed walking along side the river. Kitchen utensils are sparingly and poor quality cooking pans if u plan on cooking (we made breakfast daily). Location was nice, new braunfels was great for going between San antonio and Austin

Would I stay here again, probably not. Location was good, but it was more of an adult atmosphere rather than kids. In the evening adults drinking took over both pools so we really couldn’t hang out at the pool, we didn’t feel comfortable having the kids around all of that. Our first night we were kept up until 2 from drunk adults at the pool. Wouldn’t book the condo again.

We are sorry that you had that experience. The City of New Braunfels has a Noise Ordinance that starts at 10pm. The office after-hours Emergency line and the NBPD numbers are provided in the guest contracts and information for the ability of the guests to notify us or the NBPD for any disturbances. Your arrival date of Thursday should have been a quiet evening at Waterwheel while Friday & Saturday Security is onsite to remind guests how to behave.

Excellent eacape

Great for the family escape, lots of greenies and open space and the pools are great for a family weekend getaway. Very roomy. Very clean and well decorated. Check on and check out process was flawless. Beds are very comfy and the balcony is pretty nice as its over looking the pool and is synced with the elevator area for ease of entrance for that heavy ice chest and large luggaage. .

Resort was nice, no problems with our rooms during our stay. Would recommend this place to others. easy excess to river.
