Ce chalet est confortable pour un couple ou une personne seule. En outre, tous les locataires vivant en ville ont accĂšs Ă deux plages exclusives payantes: Squibnocket et Lucy Vincent.
A million dollar view! This quaint cottage provided all we needed for a relaxing vacation. The place is rustic but comfortable and well equipped. We loved sitting in the living area and enjoying the cool ocean breeze and the fantastic view of Menemsha. The bed is very comfortable. We had wonderful nightsâ sleep falling asleep to the sound of the bouyâs bell. Thank you to Barbara and John for checking in to make sure we we had everything we needed. We will be back.
Barbaraâs beach cabin is delightful. She is amazing host and has a warm and friendly personality. Wonderful location near the water and great ocean breezes. We will definitely visit again.
The time spent on this property in Chilmark last week confirmed what I love about this island. The view from the front porch toward Menemsha looks out over marshes with egrets and sea gulls, then beyond to the sea. We walked two minutes to the fish market for dinner which we cooked in the cottage. I woke up early one morning to watch the full moon descend to the horizon, then took a walk around the peer and the boats as the sun came up. The location is breathtakingly beautiful. The hosts, like the accommodations, gave us everything we needed, and nothing we didnât. I highly recommend this cottage for those who love the quiet (October) beauty of the Vineyard.
My wife and I had a gorgeous fall week on Martha's Vineyard, with priceless views of Menemsha Harbor and beach. It was our launching point to great walks and running trails, and outstanding meals whether from one of the fish markets right outside the front door, of one of the many restaurants still open and serving well into October. Barbara was a fantastic host!
It's not just a property, it's a poem. Open Water, sand paths and marsh trails, this is a unique ecological location as well as a culinary one. The sounds of fishermen and channel buoys in the early morning, refreshing swims, the heady aroma of bisques and chowders and buttered lobster around the corner. On foot, that is!.
Would a months stay be enough to satisfy? - try a full season.
Wonderful and true Islanders, the owners are kind and accommodating, making my stay just right.
We had a wonderful week in Menemsha - Barbara's cottage is in the perfect location - we loved being able to walk to Menemsha Beach every evening for sunsets, Larsen's Fish Market for fresh seafood and lobster rolls and the Galley for ice cream and lunch on a rainy day! Barbara is a wonderful host and we hope to be back in Menemsha next year!
We had a lovely time and were amazed at how undeveloped the Menemsha side of the Vineyard still is. The view from the cottage is as advertised, the cottage is walking distance to a swimming beach, to fish markets, and to a trail through the salt marsh and beach roses, and up the hill. This is a small, very rustic place, tastefully decorated with antiques and original artwork. Even though it is very close to two other houses, everyone was quiet. Barbara is extremely responsive, as other reviewers have noted. The kitchen was very well equipped with good pots and pans. On the downside: The stairs are steep - as was pictured in the listing, there is no sink in the bathroom, and the bathroom door did not close properly. Also the refrigerator door needs to be repaired.
The cottage was perfectly quaint and located in an ideal location within walking distance of delicious fish markets and lovely shops. The sunsets from the porch are exquisite. The property owner is wonderful and makes everything smooth and trouble-free. Highly recommend!
We spent a week here celebrating our 32nd wedding anniversary. Barbara is a wonderful host! And the cottage is comfortable, has everything needed and is ideally located for exploring Upisland. We enjoyed fishing , beach combing, hiking, as well as ready access to fresh seafood. It was a perfect location for a wonderful week!
I was a first time visitor to Martha's Vineyard and had no idea about where to go or stay. I chose this place because it was one of the few 2-person places and was on the Western side of the island which appealed to my love for walks in nature, and for staying safe during the pandemic. Turns out we chose well! I loved being right in Menemsha Village - at a lonely time of the year it was nice to see folks and talk to people out and about. The cottage is basic but just what we wanted and expected - very relaxing and full of light, with a calming view of the salt marsh and Vineyard Sound beyond. You need to be able to do stairs to get to the bedroom. I especially loved Barbara's cookware, and it was a bit sad to come home to my own pots and pans again. Also, I'm not a grillmaster, but there is a grill for guests and we succeeded in doing a fantastic dish of grilled fish and potatoes. Which brings me to a big shout-out to the Menemsha Fish Market down the street from the cottage - lots of other places closed for the season but we always had great food options here for take out or cooking at home (seafood chimichangas, who knew that would be so good?). There is a great loop walk along the beach, through the marsh and up through the woods (you get to see and read about Devon Milk Cows in the pasture on Beach Plum Lane). Also close to many other walking places, including the Menemsha Hills Reserve and Tea Lane Farm.
And Barbara is very responsive but also seemingly very laid back, which is wonderful combination. Thanks for a great stay!
We rented this house for a quiet week away in September; our first time on Martha's Vineyard. We walked in and there were fresh flowers on the table! It was so fun to be able to walk to Menemsha beach and the fish market. Barbara was delightful and helpful but not nosy or omnipresent. Access to Squibnocket and Lucy Vincent beaches was so fun - we rented bikes and they were close enough to bike to. We loved going to sleep to the sound of the harbor bell buoy. Like a previous reviewer said - this cottage has everything you need and nothing you don't need. The is an extra day built in between renters to allow for deep covid cleaning and airing out. The listing created accurate expectations for our stay and we had a truly lovely time.
Barbara has a lovely property smack dab in the middle of quaint Menemsha. It's rustic and compact, but it's straight out of a storybook. We had a stupendous time and would come back.
Great location, walk to beach, Larsenâs fish market and close to Chilmark store.
Great views/sunset. Nice salt marsh in front for birding. Smooth friendly rental experience.
Itâs rare that a place is just what you hoped it would be but better. The cottage is small but not at all cramped, has everything you need and nothing you donât need, and the rooms are full of light. The owner is from an old Marthaâs Vineyard family and was immediately responsive to questions and requests. If you are a certain kind of person, this is a wonderful placeârustic and real, not chic and sleek. We loved it.
I am an Islander yet I had never stayed âUp Islandâ. This cottage was rustic, charming and perfect!
Absolutely wonderful! A quiet, peaceful, beautiful place! We loved listening to the buoy bells and the gills as we fell asleep; we cherished the evening sunsets from our dining table; we were appreciative of a two minute walk to the market for fresh fish. This stay could not have been better!
A lovely older home perfectly located near the beach, sunsets, and best fish market on the island. The owner Barbara was responsive and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.
My husband and I recently rented this cottage to fish the derby it was perfect for us. Just a short stroll to the beach, jetties, fish markets and The Bite. Barbara and John are the perfect host! I made a new best friend their Lab Maggie! If you are looking for a laid back vacation cottage this one is for you. If you do venture out The Atlantic Seafood and Steak Restaurant in Edgartown has some great food try their calamari fries.
