We have stayed in this house before and would stay there again in a heartbeat. Beautiful home, just as depicted, and great neighborhood for walking. Three grocery stores within 4-5 blocks and short walk to Lake Merritt. Perfect for us (retired couple) and our adult child and partner.
Our family of 4 stayed a week in May for our daughter's graduation. It's a beautiful clean home, bright, nicely decorated, with great spaces, complete with appliances including W+D. Nice space for 4 people, with driveway parking, and easy access to the freeway. Near Lake Merritt, supermarket, cathedral and restaurants.
Sandria was a helpful and responsive host. Although we arrived very late, check-in was easy via a lockbox. Highly recommended if staying in the Oakland/Berkeley area.
If you're planning to work remotely, the WiFi was very slow.
My mom and I stayed here while visiting my brother. The house is a gem! Decorated beautifully, has a large kitchen with everything we needed to prepare food. Every space was comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet and located close to amenities. It is also located close to BART. There is a small driveway for parking if you have a car. I would definitely stay here again!
We just returned from a two week trip to Oakland to visit family and stayed in this wonderful Vrbo. The house was terrific - very private, clean, comfortable and well equipped. It was located in a terrific neighborhood, close to whatever we needed. We enjoyed relaxing and reading in the back yard. We will definitely stay at this home again for future visits to the Bay area. Thank you to Sandria for sharing her Oakland home with us.
Communication was lacking the first night and we had to stay in San Francisco, not fun at 12:00 am, 3:00 am our time. But once in the house, and we washed our bedding, we felt very comfortable. After a night of sight seeing - there really isn't any comfortable place to relax and watch a movie. The coffee pot is on the small size and the mattresses could be a more comfortable. The home is very time stamped.
We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful property... very homey for us, even as we âsheltered in placeâ. A great cookâs kitchen, wonderful formal rooms and a charming, secluded backyard. Great walks in the area, and close access to all services... Perfect!
I had a great 2 week stay here at the Frisbie Property!!! This was very Central to Oakland And SF Airport's, The Oakland Coliseum for Raider's Game's, Close to Lake Merritt, close enough to Golden Gate Bridge, Bay Bridge and SF. Sandria was very helpful and replied very quickly when I had a question. I would love to visit and stay again!!!
Thank you Oakland and Sandria for the amazing stay!
The house was beautiful with hardwood floors and very nice furnishings. The kitchen had high quality appliances. The showers in both bathrooms had good pressure. The master bed that I slept in was comfortable. The rear porch was a pleasant space. It was a hilly but short walk to Sprouts, the closest grocery store.
The wifi speed was 3.6 mbps down, 1.5 up. The TV was antediluvian but did have cable. On warm days, I needed to open all the windows and situate the fans to cool the house down to a good sleeping temperature. But thereâs no worry about bugs coming in the windows in CA so it worked ok.
We loved it here and hope to be able to stay here again
The house has been wonderful for our vacation.
It is so charming and well set up with every convenience we required that we felt perfectly comfortable.
it is in a great location within easy walking distance to lots of shops and restaurants and also to the lake and gardens.
This is a great home to spend a family vacation in the East Bay. Unfortunately, we arrived in the midst of the Paradise Fire and the resulting blanket of smoke over the entire Bay Area. We had family over to share meals and play indoor games. When the rain came on Wednesday before Thanksgiving we were able to go out and enjoy the neighborhoods we love. I would recommend this home.
We loved our stay! The home is well decorated, comfortable, and perfect for having a couple of friends over for dinner! We stayed here with our two kids and had ample space, access to a washer and dryer and driveway parking (essential as street parking is scarce). We would highly recommend this home and hope to stay again if we are ever in the area!
This house was great for my friends and myself needs, with two bedrooms and one bathroom and one shower room no one had to wait to have a shower. The house also had lots of space with a front room, dining room, kitchen and a TV lounge which leads to the garden. There a supermarket less than 10 minutes walk and the Bart was only 20 minutes walk away. There was lots of interesting books to read in the house and the AC was nice to have as Oakland is hotter then San Francisco. My friends and I will stay here again if we are in the bay area again.
We were very lucky to find this place when we were displaced from our house nearby due to a flood. We had a brand new baby and finding a spot in such a great location, where we could walk to Uptown Oakland, Lake Merritt, and Piedmont Ave, was fantastic. We are very grateful that the owner was flexible in helping us get into the place as soon as possible and was flexible in extending the rental when construction was delayed. Thank you so much for everything! I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a home base during your stay in Oakland.
We needed a place to stay near the hospital, and this was perfect. The house is comfortable and well supplied with basic needs. The inside of the house is very nicely decorated, and welcoming. The main bedroom is lovely, but the 2nd bedroom is merely functional. Good restaurants are nearby.
This house is even more lovely than the pictures show, although the pictures that are posted are very accurate. The house and appliances were extremely clean and worked well. The kitchen was well-equipped. This Oakland neighborhood was very safe and fun to walk around in. We frequently walked to Lake Merritt, the nearby grocery stores, and the 19th St. BART station. We would hope to be able to stay in this house again the next time we travel to Oakland!
We loved staying here. Very cozy and spacious, we were able to have our Bay area family members over for holiday feasts. Three grocery stores within walking distance.
This is a lovely restored house is in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance to the lake and stores. We loved the kitchen for cooking and the sunroom where we did most of our reading.. We found this home to be perfect for our needs. Two adults and a few guest for meals. We will be back. The owner was so easy to work with and accommodating.
My family and I had a lovely time staying in this charming house over the Thanksgiving holidays. The architecture, door frames and other 20s era elements are unique and give off good vibes. The interior furnishings are warm and personable; it is clear they have been chosen with care, from the opposing couches and large family table to the comfy master bed. We're sorry it was too rainy and cold to enjoy the small outdoor space in the back. Great kitchen and large oven made cooking enjoyable. Wonderful book collection - some quite dated but that added to the charm. Great neighborhood and perfect perch from which to explore Oakland.
Only a few, minor criticisms (NONE of these were deal breakers in anyway - we had a lovely stay. I only point them out in hopes of being helpful):
1. Very dark inside, even during the day (with exception of bedrooms - see point 2): The interior lights are dim at best, which made us struggle with navigating the hodgepodge of small steps, random corners and blind spots quite a struggle, especially since one member of our party has limited vision.
2. Early sunshine wakeup: Main bedroom and second bedroom/office windows lack curtains, so the sun shines (way too) bright in the morning. An inexpensive and helpful touch would be to add curtains to the windows (instead of the white translucent cloth currently in place). We jury-rigged some dark sheets in the office using existing hooks and were able to get by.
3. Second/bedroom office is cluttered with papers and packages - this is only an asthetic criticism and not a big deal, but could be nice to tidy up and remove/hide some of the papers, manilla envelopes, etc.
4. Murphy bed offers passable comfort for two medium-to-small sized individuals, but would start to get uncomfortable for a longer stay.
5. Landscaping has seen better days - some plants are overgrown, especially in the backyard, and the driveway was swamped with leaves (we imagine this was probably due to wintertime and it did not affect us in the least since we didn't use those spaces).
6. A bit musty in certain parts of the home (i.e. office, kitchen near cellar door, etc) - but this is too be expected in an older home.
Overall we had a great time.. can't underestimate the charm of this place. Owner was extremely kind and flexible - she was very responsive, answered all our questions and made are check in and out extremely easy. Would highly recommend to friends. Would not recommend for the visually impaired.

This is an exquisite example of Arts and Crafts architecture, which is my very favorite style. Growing up in California, I had always wanted to live in such a house.
The house is ideally located to take advantage of restaurants, theatre, opera and shopping in San Francisco, as well as similar offerings in Oakland and Berkeley. (Berkeley is only about a 10-minute drive away; San Francisco about twice that long, in non-commute times.) Having Lake Merritt so close makes it easy to picnic, walk around the lake, etc.
