Mississippi River waterfront cabin just steps from the beach and boat launch
Escape to a secluded Mississippi riverfront cabin nestled at the base of a bluff, where you can unwind on a gorgeous beachfront and gather around a cozy fire pit.
Perfect for year round trips, Finley's Landing Cabin hosts your beach front and boating activities with a nearby boat launch just off the main channel. In the fall and winter it becomes a cozy cabin for unwinding and relaxation with beautiful views of fall foliage and snow covered landscapes. A county park within walking distance awaits for quiet walks through the timber along a tranquil stream.
Just a short 20 minute drive to Dubuque, you'll find excellent shopping and dining. Travel along the scenic Mississippi River bluffs to wineries and restaurants, or enjoy a day on the slopes of Sundown Mountain Resort just 25 minutes away.
The Master bedroom is a great place to start the new day. Enjoy a cup of coffee on the bedroom's deck and watch the river light up with the morning sun. The master queen and the twin/full bedrooms share a bathroom with toilet and pedestal sink. Downstairs is a double bedroom. The main bathroom features an oversized shower with a tankless water heater which provides for long showers. A full sized air mattress with built in electric pump can be placed where needed, and a queen size pull out couch allows for even more sleeping space.
Please note: as with many Mississippi riverfront properties, active trains run nearby and may sound at night.

This is a great place to getaway from everything and enjoy quality time with your family and/or friends. Beautiful location on the Mississippi with a short walk to the beach. This is the 4th year our family has stayed here for a long weekend and we will definitely be back!
We enjoyed our stay. The house was near the river and made it very convenient for putting our boat. It is only about 25 minutes from Dubuque which was a good size city. We will definitely see if we are in the area to stay again.
My husband, myself, my sister and our children ages 6-17 stayed here for a relaxing family weekend. This is actually my secone stay here this year! The location is perfect! Close to amenities but far enough away to get a full camping/outdoors secluded experience! We love to sit by the fire, watch the birds, fish at Finleys landing and walk the beach. The cabin is cozy and rustic and thoroughly stocked with firewood and cooking supplies! Perfect stay for families!
This is a great home right on the Mississippi River. Enjoyed watching the river boat traffic. Home has everything you need. Enjoyed drinking morning coffee in 4 season room. What a magical place to totally relax & unwind for a few days. I highly recommend this place!!
The location of the cabin is great- itâs right by the river, which is beautiful and peaceful during the day. However, itâs also right next to active train tracks, and trains pass by regularly, including at night. Theyâre loud enough to wake even a deep sleeper. The cabin itself is noticeably smaller than it appears in the photos. One of the bedrooms has a very small and uneven bed- two adults couldnât sleep on it comfortably, and one had to move to the couch in the living room. Also, one of the bathrooms is located between rooms and has no lock, which made privacy a bit of a challenge- we had to coordinate with the whole group just to use the toilet. That said, the cabin is priced lower than many other options in the area, and for that reason, some of the issues can be overlooked.Still, the cleanliness left a lot to be desired. There was dust and old items under the beds, spiderwebs, and a layer of dust covering much of the patio furniture and even parts of the interior.Be mindful of checkout expectations: we were charged an additional fee for not taking out trash from the bathroom bins, even though all general cleaning tasks were done. One more note: the cabin is located directly behind a public parking lot, so during weekends the foot traffic near the house can be quite heavy, especially during the day.
A group of us came to Dubuque for a weekend getaway to relax and fish. This cabin checked all the boxes to accomplish that objective. Kitchen was well stocked, house was clean, and everything worked well. Being next to a county park where one could take walks and swim or fish in the river was just an added bonus!
We were VERY happy with our stay at this property! The cabin is well loved and well cared for, very well stocked. It was extremely close to the beach along the river which our grandkids really enjoyed. Enjoyed the yard and fire pit, well stocked with firewood. We also were close to Finley's Landing for walks and fishing. We also spent time in Dyersville and Dubuque, both a short drive away with fun things to do for our whole family, as well as a great place to eat in Sherrill and a winery just 6 miles away! Even though it is fairly remote, it is still within close distance for groceries, entertainment, and restaurants. Highly recommend this property!
My best friend and I wanted to take our teen boys on a little getway to kick off their school year. Ages: 13, 15, 16, 16. This was the perfect spot for that! The boys loved having easy access to the river for fishing. The beach is nearly in the backyard which was awesome! We really enjoyed the firepit and all the seating available outdoors! The sun room is so cozy. We enjoyed our morning coffee watching the hummingbirds outside the windows. We all agreed we would love to come back in the fall once the mosquitos disappear so we can thoroughly enjoy being outdoors in the beautiful yard!
Our family weekend was very nice. The kitchen was outfitted completely, there are towels and linens. Nice shampoo/conditioner and body wash in the showers. We used the firepit. It is very remote. There is one road in and one road out that takes probably 10-15 minutes to get to the main road, lots of curves and hills, which is scenic, but slow. The cabin is across the road from a county park. There is a railroad that runs between the cabin and the river. The trains are pretty loud at night unfortunately. Communication with the host was great!
We really like the location. It was nice to be able to go by the river. The yard and the sunroom were nice. Hot water and water pressure were great upstairs queen size bed was great but the other beds couldâve used improving. If you stay here, in the fall, please be aware that during picking season Ladybugs invade the sunroom. I had to vacuum several times. Also, be aware that this house is very near the train tracks and with increased train traffic in the area there are at least three trains per night that go through and have the pleasure of waking you with their horn.
It was a second vacation for us in this property (7 years ago), nothing changed the train was the most worst part of our vacation. Not enough sheets for living room bed, we found only 1 fitted sheet and 1 pillow case. There were a lot of coffee, creamers and other stuff, towels and sheets were clean, plenty of shower stuff. Very ease and quick communication with the host. Thank you so much !
Very neat spot right next to the water. I enjoyed spending the mornings drinking coffee on the sun porch with my family. The fire pit was an awesome place where we gathered, talked, and made s'mores. I do recommend getting food to cook in Dubuque before you go, because there are no grocery stores closer! This cabin is right near a train track, so you will hear a train horn a few times through the night, but it wasn't terrible.
Great hidden gem!
Finleyâs Landing is such an amazing setting - itâs a great spot for family togetherness. Itâs rural and gorgeous! We love the campfire and walking in the fall splendor⊠and we play cards and put together a puzzle. (The table has internal leaves and can accommodate the puzzle at one end while we still use the other end to eat.) The kitchen and living room are one space and is on the ground level, but the bathrooms and bedrooms are both on the split level portion of the cabin, so just keep that in mind if youâre planning a trip with someone that has trouble with stairs (though itâs only 1/2 flight up or down).
We just love staying here and always have a memorable trip!
We brought two of our grandsons ( 9 & 11 ) to the cabin to stay and do a little fishing and playing on the Beach. I would consider it as Glamping. Glamorous camping lol. Grandma and grandpa got comfy beds to sleep in and the grandsons had a blast exploring, fishing Just hanging out at the beach and playing volleyball. It was a win-win for me. This is our 4th Visit to the cabin, but the first time we have ever brought anybody else with us.
I thoroughly enjoy having my morning coffee by the fire in the yard and watching the hummingbirds play at the birdfeeders. The grandsons were up early and off to the boat dock for some fishing before breakfast. Most of the afternoons were spent at the beach and then back to the docks for more fishing in the late afternoon.
This is my favorite out of all the vacation homes we have rented and will continue to come back and the coming years.
Place was clean, quiet, little hard to park. But we figured it out. Little pet peaves, bag of charcoal but no way to light it for a barbecue (we got creative, wish they had a chimney dont care for chemical lighting). Was only 1 and a 1/2 roll of TP. Other than the little things it was good stay
