Relax and enjoy making memories with family and friends at our lake house on Lake Wedowee. LAKE ESCAPE is a terrific 3 bedroom, 2 bath house that has plenty of entertaining space, including a gas grill and ceiling fans on the screened in deck off the main living area. The terrace level patio offers an additional area that includes a daybed swing for relaxing after a day on the water. Bring your own boat and enjoy our covered dock (Public boat ramp is just a few minutes down the lake at Foster's Bridge), fishing from this prime location or just relax enjoying the great view and wonderful sunsets.
Home was just as advertised. Super clean and comfortable. Property manager was helpful and easy to reach. We were not surprised, but it is back a couple miles of dirt roads.
We met up with relatives from different places and had a wonderful time at this house. We went hiking in the Cheaha State park nearby & enjoyed the beautiful fall colors & weather.
P.S. The house needs more pots, pans & other kitchen items. Also more towels would be great too. Be aware of the steep driveway!!!!
In summary, We enjoyed our stay & would come back again!
I ask for a remote and extremely private location to decompress and just enjoy the family and the quiet. The property is beautiful and well kept. We are already planning to book this same unit again for fall. Highly recommend and the beautiful area this is located is worth the drive from anywhere.
This is our second stay here while in Alabama for the NASCAR race at Talladega Superspeedway. While the driveway (super steep) is a little daunting, the house itself is welcoming, roomy, and great for sharing a long weekend with good friends. Probably the only drawback is that this area must be prone to spiders because the deck and the grill was just covered in spiderwebs. Not a big deal to brush them off (never actually saw a spider), but we did decide to just cook/eat inside. Bathrooms are huge, pantry is huge, rooms are well appointed and the TV channel access provides everything you could want if you need access to college football on Saturday. The lake is serene and the guys had fun fishing off the dock.
We had a fabulous time at this property. The pictures don't do it justice! It is a beautiful home with superior mattresses, nice linens and comfortable furniture. Not to mention the beautiful floors and woodwork throughout the home.
Just be aware - the dirt roads coming in and the steep driveway are a challenge. You don't need a 4WD vehicle if there is good weather. You need to traverse a couple of miles of dirt roads that are not significantly rutted but aren't super well packed either. The driveway LOOKs a lot worse than it is but make sure your brakes are good before you head down it.
For the property manager/owner - the kitchen was well appointed with good pots/pans. The knifes in the block were a little flimsy and it would have been nice to have a couple of mixing bowls or serving bowls. We ended up having to mix a few things in the Instant Pot insert because there were only soup bowls.
The grill needed to be cleaned. Whatever grease had built up on the burners in prior uses WITHOUT cleaning really caused quite a smoking mess. Actually, it may be ok now because we burned off most of the mess while cooking our dinners.
Love this place - hope to be back.
