Spend your time in Jackson in this unique, cozy, jungle-themed bungalow! Located in the historic Belhaven district, this 1930's home is close to some of Jackson's best restaurants, Baptist, UMMC, and the VA, as well as walking distance to Belhaven University and Milsaps College.
The space was cheerful and quirky and it was nice to get a "neighborhood" vibe. Would have liked a little more info about how to work stuff and the checkout procedure. Nice little oasis on a cross country trek.
Exactly as pictured-Pinterest approved! đđ
Clean, easy correspondence with property owner, good location; would def book again and recommend to others!
If you donât mind an older property, itâs the perfect place. Trash underneath the sofa cushions needs to be clean. Only 1 bathroom. The air conditioning doesnât work upstairs but there are units in the room. Seriously I was looking for another place that night but it was too late. The host was sweet though.
A dirty, old house with a bunch of animal art on the ealls
The floors were covered in dust, dog hair, and long dark [human] hair and clearly have not been vacuumed in some time. Upon pulling down the bed covers, there was someone's inside-out sock in between the quilt and top sheet, causing doubt the sheets were washed in between rentals -- and causing doubt anything was washed (cups, plates, utensils?) in between rentals.
The house is very old and shows it's age through loud creaky floors, large cracks, and interior doors that don't close all the way. There is no central A/C upstairs and the units in the bedrooms took several hours to bring the temperature down to a tolerable level. There are glade plug-ins throughout to mask the smells a house of this age acquires over time. Also, the location is directly next to a large drainage ditch. Not a huge issue, but worth noting if you don't want to sleep in an old, uneven house about 20 feet away from millions of gallons of rushing water.
We couldn't get out of there fast enough. If the owner invests in a new cleaning service, it might be more hospitable but we wouldn't recommend the house.
We really enjoyed staying at Bellhaven. The home was nice and well kept. The host responded quickly and was helpful. The instructions and suggestions about the neighborhood, where to go, eat, etc., was +++.
All in all, we strongly recommend Bellhaven if youâre looking for a place to stay in Jackson.
Overall the property was as advertised however a few things that can be improved upon. Blinds on all the windows for privacy would be a good thing, the back door had would not stay closed with the door handle and not enough kitchen pot/pans to propertly cook in the house.
