Modern Oasis- Downtown Luxury Stay, Spacious Cozy Home
Our lovely vacation home is located in Downtown in the best neighborhood. It's a very clean, safe and quiet neighborhood walking distance from the boardwalk with the view of the ocean and Norfolk Skyline with ferry access to Norfolk Downtown and Water District. Also walking distance from Virginia's first casino, The Rivers Casino. The house is recently renovated and furnished with brand new furniture with a cozy homey design and is equipped with a full kitchen with all the appliances you'd need and kitchenware. It has a spacious laundry room with brand new washer and dryer in addition to iron and board in walk in closets for all wardrobe needs. There are 3 large smart TVs at the house in the living room and bedrooms. We also have games at the house for entertainment and fun.
This was a great stay. The location was nice and quiet. Loved the ability to walk to several eateries and bars. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Had a great time and the owners were very responsive.
Very quaint neighborhood. Loved being able to walk to so many attractions. Took the ferry to Norfolk twice and drive to Virginia Beach one day. There really isnât an outdoor space to gather but we bought a couple folding chairs and hung out on the front step area quite a bit. Left chairs for future guests to enjoy. Enjoyed the Portsmouth speakeasy style tapas restaurant and the Bier Garden on High St. First time visit to the area and really enjoyed it. Quiet cities but nice and relaxing.
The home and surrounding area was lovely. The host was at first very nice u see standing my anxiety over not being able to see the reservation on VRBO. I texted frequently and they responded right away but do not offer your opinion on improvement. I recommended that they invest in a real mattress for the 3rd floor bed as they put a foam cover over the box spring and we could feel the wooden slats. I was told that I was âlooking for faultâ in my
Stay since I messaged them regarding anxiety over not being able to see the reservation.
They turned out to be quite rude. That is unfortunate as the house, other than the bed, is really nice.
The location of the house is absolutely perfect, the neighborhood is lovely and so close to the harbor/ferry. We experienced a few issues with the house where it seemed like some things were just for show and not functional. Such as the standing fan in the bedroom did not work, 2 lamps would not turn on, a bedroom did not have a remote after looking everywhere (so could not work that TV), some outlets would not work. We didnât realize there was no coffee provided with the coffee maker which wouldâve been a nice touch as there were a lot of other kitchen supplies in the cabinets.
Stayed here with friends for a convention. Wonderful accommodations and a great place for us to all stay! We were close to downtown which was perfect for us. Would definitely stay here again!
Loved the place! I will book again. Just a couple of tweaks. The walk-in closets need full-length mirrors. We found extra pillows but they had no pillow cases.
Lovely townhouse. No issues. Host very nice and communicated well. Walking distance to many things. Ferry to Norfolk, church and downtown restaurants and bars.
House was lovely! Itâs just needs a few updates. Needs new pots & pans. Maybe some new mattresses. But other than that it was great. Nice neighborhood, friendly neighbors. Would stay again.
Perfectly situated for our needs, lovely house for our family. House has a few minor maintenance updates needed, but nothing major and the host was very quick to respond to questions. We would totally stay again if we need a house in the area while attending another event. Very close to restaurants and things to do. Lovely, quiet historic downtown street.
My friends and I booked this place due to its location near the Portsmouth Renaissance where we were working a conference. Communication and booking with the hosts was quick and easy. The Old Town neighborhood was cute and inviting. We could easily walk back and forth to High Street for dinners at some fabulous places. The pizza at High Street Pizza and Pour House was the best I have ever had! The townhouse itself was fine. However, although the listing says the place has air conditioning, they do not mention that it is only on the first floor with a floor standing portable unit. The second and third floors, where the bedrooms are located, are not air conditioned. We were there during a mini heat wave and the temps on the second floor thermostat would read 80 degrees at 10pm. They did have some floor fans to help move air around. There were minor issues with cleanliness and a lack of general supplies (spare towels, paper towels, napkins, etc.). Nothing that would prevent me from staying again during cooler months.
A group of us traveled in from Pittsburgh to catch a show at the pavilion. The town is quaint and quiet but has a lot of food/drink options and is very walkable. The pavilion was very nice as well. The home was clean and had plenty of space for us to be there for the short times that we were not out enjoying the town. The hosts were easy to communicate with and were proactive in making our experience a good one. Thank you!
We stayed 3 nights and although we weren't there very much, we found it to be quiet and on a peaceful neighborhood street. The parking is on the street, but there is a parking lot that is steps from the house and made it easy if the space in front wasn't available. The neighborhood felt safe. All the flowers on the neighboring porches are lovely.
There were some cleanliness issues I informed the owners about after we checked out, which I believe stem from the cleaning company not being very diligent. But overall, we were happy with the space and it served our needs.
A few things for my fellow travelers to consider..... The first being that the beds are pretty low to the floor. My husband is 6'6" so it's a step up for someone very tall. He wasn't with me this time, but I'm always watching for issues for a really tall person when I'm renting. But I did find the beds on the 2nd floor to be comfortable.
Second is that the 2nd floor bedroom facing the street doesn't get very dark at night because of the street lights. Didn't really bother me and I appreciated the street being so well lit, but I know some people have trouble sleeping with any kind of lights coming in the room so it's worth mentioning
Lastly, the stairs are steep up to the 3rd floor so if you have someone with mobility issues, that would be a challenge. But we just called it "leg day" as we went up and down.
Overall, I enjoyed our time there and would stay again. Thank you!
This three story property was perfect for my familyâs needs! The house was exactly as listed and there were no issues. The kids enjoyed the bedrooms and the television, the adults enjoyed the spacious kitchen. We loved walking to the water, and taking a trip on the ferry. Lots of things to do Va beach and the Va. zoo was 1/2 hour drive.
I never leave reviews but please don't waste your time. First impression- this neighborhood is not "luxurious" and in a rundown area in Portsmouth. The photos also look much better and angled perfectly in the booking.
The bigger issue that ruined plans was that upon entering the property, it was freezing, and the power was out. I was with my pregnant wife, infant child, and 10-year-old daughter. I reached out to the host, and she called Virginia Power and an electrician and asked us to wait- we waited for about 45 min, but it was too cold, and we had plans. I asked for a refund, and she said we should be more patient and go back until it's fixed. She wasn't understanding that it was past to point of fixing, we needed to find a place for my family to stay.
I asked again 2 days later for a refund; she offered a partial refund because the fees are from Vrbo. I don't care where the fees are from, I'm not paying them for a house with no power that I didn't stay in.
I understand things happen and I am not blaming her for any of this but do not like how this was handled. It's the principle.
