Charming 3-BR Townhouse in Del Ray and close to DC
** Parking consists of FREE street parking ** Bring the whole family to this great place with lots of room for fun. Our townhouse is located in the Del Ray neighborhood of the fabulous City of Alexandria. One block away from Mt. Vernon Ave, which offers a great selection of restaurants, boutiques and services. Historic Old Town Alexandria is under 3 miles away. The White House complex in Washington D.C. is 6.5 miles away, driving time can vary 15-20 minutes with moderate traffic conditions.
We really liked the "lived in" vibe of this house. Lots of interesting art and pottery works in the very cool DelRay neighborhood. Sure, it might need some work here or there, but so does every house and you would end up with a sterile hotel room.
Great location for a "local experience." The Del Ray neighborhood is charming and super easy to access. We found the house and the street it is on to be quite and very walkable. With six adults, the house was plenty big for us to stay comfortably. Communication with the owner was outstanding.
Everything was clean and organized with comfortable beds. Within easy walking distance from an Aldi's, CVS, 7 11, and Walgreens as well as multiple restaurants. Overall a great experience.
Overall communication with the owner was good except for a delay in getting us the check in information. The property was clean enough and well stocked. Set up is as explained in the description; two bedrooms on the third floor, one in the basement. We struggled with some electrical issues, we struggled with the AC during the last night. Some of the appliances did not function properly. The owner/manager asked us to retrieve a package for him. Location was good, we were in DC for a funeral at Arlington. This allowed us to stay together as a family, was reasonably priced, with nice shops and restaurants in walking distance and a reasonable drive to everything we wanted. Definitely not a property for picky people, but for a short stay, if you are looking for something functional, this can work.
We stayed here to visit family in Alexandria and to visit the museums in DC and the zoo. We had an excellent stay. There was plenty of room for 4 adults 3 kids. The AC was very nice in the hot weather. The owner was very hospitable and he got back to me within minutes when I had a question. We fully recommend.
We couldn't have asked for a better location for our DC spring break. The drive in and out of DC was only 20 min tops ever and we were there during peak cherry blossoms.
The property provided us with a homey spot to relax and rest after long days of exploring. The kitchen had everything we needed and the little back deck was nice too.
Host responded quickly to requests. Washer was not working during our stay, but hopefully was fixed soon after. Recommend parking as close to curb as possible due to narrow street. Our car was scraped by a passing car in narrow street. With all that, we would stay here again. We were within walking distance of bus line and took the bus to closest metro rail station.
Communicative Host - Comfortable home and great location
Maximus was super helpful and responsive in sharing information to be sure we had what we needed. As someone mentioned, the living room furniture is eclectic, but it provides sufficient seating for everyone, and the kitchen is nice. We didn't use the outdoor seating, but it looked nice, too. Similar to many townhomes in Del Ray, there is one bathroom on the second floor and one in the basement. Both are on the small side. The upstairs shower also has a full tub. There are two bedrooms upstairs, and the bunk beds were great, so the kids didn't have to share a bed, even though they shared a room. The third bedroom is in the basement. It's a great location and a similar price to other homes in the area. It worked out great for us.
The property is a cute townhouse in Alexandria close to lots of cute shops, restaurants, and bars. The neighborhood is quiet and seems safe with easy street parking. There were two families staying here during our trip to DC and there were enough beds for all of us. There is no bathroom on the main floor, but one is in the basement next to the bedroom and the other is upstairs next to the other two bedrooms. If you canât do stairs, keep that in mind!
It was overall clean, but we noticed the upstairs bathroom had a dirty sink (there was an old crusty contact behind the faucet) and one bath towel had a stain on it. The carpet on the basement stairs was also in need of a cleaning.
We found out the washer didnât work when we arrived, so it was impossible to wash anything during our stay. That was unfortunate because we needed to wash some sheets. The door lock is also finicky. Took anywhere from 2-5 times for it to engage, but that might have been due to low batteries. Verify that things are in working order before you book. Even so, our host was very responsive when we messaged him about any concerns we had.
The decor is eclectic, yet functional and we all had somewhere to sit and relax.
For the money, this was a nice little property. Itâs not fancy though, so if you are looking for high end, this isnât it. Itâs a place to sleep and eat and relax and close to DC. Iâd stay again, but would verify certain things were in working order first.
Host was very accommodating and easy to reach with questions. On street parking was a challenge at times, but always found a spot. Loved the area. A lot to do. People & dog friendly! Overall okay. No extra garbage bags and TP. Back yard was overgrown. Thought downstairs bed & bath was on 1st floor, but was in basement and felt that way.
The most enjoyable part of our stay was the convenience of the location; only two blocks from Mt. Vernon Avenue and both METRO Bus and DASH connections. The house is old (it is Alexandria!) and modestly furnished but was impeccably clean and well stocked with toiletries, towels, extra blankets, and a full washer/dryer. Kitchen has been remodeled and was nice. We had zero issues. It was a perfect fit for us and we would definitely recommend it.
