The location is spectacular! Easy walk to many spots in Alexandria and easy to get to the metro as to avoid DC parking/uber fees. The listing says it can sleep 8-10, but do note the top floor beds arent big enough to go double adults. Otherwise, it was exactly what my friends and I were looking for. The owner is good at communication before and during the stay, and check in was a breeze. Would definitely go back!
Les points faibles : Communication et exactitude de lâannonce
When we received our check in instructions it was only then we realized that while there was parking, it was not freeâjust available. We immediately messaged the host, but 3 hours later when we realized there no towels in any bathroom and we messaged again, we still didnât hear back in a timely manner. We began searching and found towels in the linen closet. We were then told to âcheck the dryerâŠthere are plentyâ. Never have I had to find my own towels on a stay! The house was conveniently located to many things and while the pictures look nice, the house itself was not well kept. There were cracks, dirty grout, water stains, etc. There was a half used bar of soap in the shower along with an old loofaThere werenât blinds on some of the windows. The backyard looked like a nice place to relax, but was overgrown and weedy. The trash was full when we got there. Overall I would not recommend this âexemplaryâ house to anyone staying in the area. It was far from exemplary.
Spectacular location and the house was good enough for what it was booked for: a place to rest and get ready. Walking distance to everything you need, Chewish around the corner and Trader Joeâs 2 blocks away; 10-minute walk to King Street. Quiet residential neighborhood, close proximity to highway to DC, where we spent most of our time. Street parking but never a problem finding a space.
The only reason this is a four instead of five is that there was apparently miscommunication with the renter before us, and the trash wasnât moved into the alley for pickup :(. So we arrived to overflowing (literally) outside trash cans. Given the high temps they stank :(. My sister chatted with neighbors, and found that we could go on and move them into the alley. Otherwise we loved the place so much we booked it again for Christmas :). The location was perfect for us - quiet neighborhood, my sister could easily do her 30 minute morning walk and get to the Potomac, winding back through Old Alexandria. Thereâs a fabulous bagel bakery literally right behind the house!! Very dangerous ;) We liked having one entire suite in the basement - my brother was able to have his own space and not share a bathroom with his sisters ;). We sisters enjoyed having our own floor, and having a fourth bedroom to use as a suitcase storage area.Prior guests had left lots of spices, seasonings, etc for anyone who wants to cook. There were sufficient dishes and cooking pots. Good sized refrigerator. The laundry room is in the basement, and the washer and dryer hold a huge amount! Unfortunately there were wet towels and sheets in them when we arrived :(. We finished that laundry, but thatâs really not how a stay should begin - another part of the four stars instead of five. I wonder if the cleaner was maybe new?We did NOT bring a car, but there is free parking on the street on the weekends.
I chose this home because of the number of bedrooms and the location. The location was great and we were able to walk to the Metro. The home is older which is fine. The basement smelled musty. The kitchen wood floor was very dirty and the sink made a sound every time it was used. The towels were stained and rough. The pillows were flat and gross. The property had potential but lots of room for improvement
We stayed here for two weeks and had a great experience. The house was clean, the furnishings were all we needed for a family with small kids, and the location was super convenient.
We were in town for only 2 days visiting with friends, and this location covered all our needs.
Kitchen was stocked, house was clean, everything seemed pretty self explanatory. Got the feeling owner might be new to renting like this but seemed motivated and available if we needed anything.
There's a convenient store 2 mins walking distance, which we appreciated, and parking was nearly always available right out front.
Yea....sure, maybe there could have been more towels, but we usually bring our own when traveling, especially in large groups. I will admit, having a step-out mat in the bathrooms would certainly be nice. Easy fix. Thats the only thing I really remember being missed.
Overall we were very pleased with our accommodations and would stay here again when we're in the area.
A family of 6 paid and there were not enough towels, no soap in the showers except an already used sliver of soap, kitchen had no paper towels or napkins and no coffee pot except for a French press with no instructions. No directions on TV (Roku) and Internet was spotty as best. I am the owner of 3 VRBO properties in historic Franklin and I know I go above and beyond for my guest but this property is so minimal with tiny rooms, no luggage racks, and no room to unpack a suitcase! The downstairs suite was nice but again no soap, too few towels, no hairdryer and poor internet. Very disappointed and was grateful we only booked an overnight.
This place is immaculate inside. The countertops and the fireplace are granite. The hand soap smells so good we ended up buying the brand they use. This place was amazing. The sitting room is great for morning coffee. The location is a short walk from the King Street of old town and the Metro. Nicest VRBO I have ever stayed in.
