Continual dead bugs in bed and upstairs
First of all, let me say that I never do this! I was part of the group who stayed at Possum Holler from Sept. 30 - Oct. 5. We were originally going on a Teacher Fall Break Trip to the beach. Our trip was canceled due to Hurricane Ian, so we began the task of finding a cabin.
Our only stipulation was wanting a fireplace (indoors) and a hot tub. We all agreed on Possum Holler based on the pictures. Yes, the pictures were beautiful, but we soon learned that we were in for some unforeseen moments on our trip. On our first night, we encountered LITERALLY hundreds of bugs on the upstairs bed. They were on the top of the comforter, but also in between the sheets and between the pillowcases and pillows. They were also in the window sills and on the towels in the bathroom. This was not a one and done thing! We continued to battle the bugs the entire week! Never alive, but dead and possibly falling from the ceiling, but who knows! Have you ever slept in a bed and woke up in the morning with dead bugs on your sheets and pillowcases? It is NOT fun!
Also, the cabin advertised a fireplace and hot tub. We were never able to use the indoor fireplace. The pilot light wasn’t lit. Malachi, cleaning person, lit it for us when he came over to change the upstairs bed linens on Saturday morning. None of us could find the remote so we could not use the fireplace. The hot tub had a very weird smell when we lifted the cover, so we were afraid to step foot in it.
On our day of check-out, there were still dead bugs and a live bug that ran behind the window frame in the upstairs bathroom.
Overall, our stay was not as expected and we were very unhappy. We were compensated for these issues, but a very small amount. It didn’t even cover the cleaning fee we were charged.
