We are a group of 6 friends over 65, semi retired from Florida looking to cool off from the heat in the mountains. The drive to the cabin is a challenge the first time including a short drive on a one lane gravel curving road and a steep downhill drive to the cabin. Our low riding Toyota convertible required some maneuvering but we managed. Suggest to arrive before dark & follow the landlord’s directions.
The main house is well furnished, downstairs is one bedroom with a double and twin beds, the bathroom is just outside one of the bedroom doors so my husband and I slept there. The kitchen has ample dishes & silverware, nice pots, microwave, dishwasher, outdoor gas grill. Dining table with 6 chairs, living room with full sofa, love seat, chair. Laundry room with washer/dryer. Upstairs are 2 bedrooms with bath where our two single friends stayed. One of the bedrooms had a window air conditioner in addition to the central air as the upstairs can get warm in July. We compensated by turning the central air down at night and everyone was comfortable.
The 1 bedroom wood cabin is a short walk down the hill. Small kitchen, sofa, chair in living room, queen bed with attached bathroom, wall air conditioner in living room which kept the whole place cool. The other married couple slept here.
The covered pavilion is 20+ steps down and was a great place for after dinner conversation although we spent more time on the front porch drinking coffee, chatting, and catching up.
The neighbors have a large black lab mix dog who often showed up just in case any food happened to drop off the front porch. Skittish & non threatening.
Our landlord kept us apprised of a power outage and other minor issues were quickly addressed. Thank you for letting us stay in your home.
We all agreed this was the best trip to NC ever owing in no small part to our accommodation here. We cooked every night, having 2 kitchens was great. When leaving we all agreed we want to come back again next summer.
