Awesome location and setting. Great rustic cabin, but a little smaller than we expected and a little worn. Overall really fun experience.

Quiet Getaway

Located in a quiet rural area, we had deer come visit while we were staying and could watch the stars at night. Close enough to Fredericksburg for an easy drive into town and surrounding wineries, and minutes from Luckenbach. Cute rustic place to stay for something different.

Nice little cabin

Cute cabin for a couple of days. Nice location in relation the wineries as well. I think the ad said a king and queen bed but both appeared to be queen. Otherwise it was clean and my wife loved the atmosphere and decor.

We took our twin 13 year old daughters here over spring break and they loved it. The property is advertised appropriately. I have nothing negative to say about this cozy cabin. We will definitely be back again.

We contacted the homeowner and he said that the cabin is serviced by a well and that it has a very high mineral content. There is a reverse osmosis system in the kitchen for drinking water.

quaint rustic Luckenbach hangout

Location was great. Check in/out was great also. Stairway to loft could be dangerous for children or elderly. Served us well for visit to Luckenbach. The overall cost did seem excessive by about 25% considering condition, space, and amenities . We did enjoy and appreciate our stay, however.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The cabin is so beautifully rustic, with all the little amenities that are often overlooked in other rental properties. When the heater wasn't enough during the Christmas freeze, the owner went above and beyond to install an auxiliary heater and provide portable heaters in the meantime. Will definitely visit again!

Family get away

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a nice time in this clean and cozy cabin.We did encounter a scorpion in the kitchen sink. Later we noticed another guest had noted in the "experience log" at the cabin, that they also found a scorpion(s) during their stay. We know this comes with the territory of TX and being in the country, but please take all precautions to rid the interior of these nasty pests. Again, nothing major, but it seems there may be a pattern considering another guest noted this also.

A getaway in need of some love

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The Might Oak Cabin is a great location if you are looking for a quiet country getaway, which we were. You can sit on the deck and watch the wildlife in the morning and listen to the owls and coyotes at night. Check in was easy with the directions provided. The cabin was relatively clean but badly in need of some maintenance. The downstairs bathtub drain was full of some white goo we just stayed away from it. The narrow treads on the stairs combined with the rickety railing makes climbing the stairs and adventure! An equally flimsy railing on in the loft was disconcerting. The latch on the deck stuck in the open position and took a good bit of jiggling to get it loose, and still proved difficult to open at times. Our biggest issue was being kept awake by the sound of rodents in the walls at night. There were large rodent traps under the furniture which was pretty disturbing. I get it that rodents are an issue in the country, but would it hurt to have an exterminator come to your rental property occasionally? It was good to get away for a few days, but next time we will choose another rental.

Maintenance issues

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The Mighty Oak Log Cabin looks good from the online pictures,but has a number of maintenance and comfort issues which disappointed this old maintenance guy.1. Logs move and breathe from temperature and relative humidity. They expand and contract at different rates from exterior doors. The cabin's doors were extremely hard to open and close. 2. The wiring in the cabin would have never passed a serious electrical inspection. Electrical outlet boxes were loose. Extension cords were run from the first to second floor and some were buried in the log walls which is a major code violation. 3. Interior doors were secured with cheap bolts which went into worn out holes in the door frames. Not the right way to do that job. 4. The upstairs king size bed really didn't fit in the space provided. Access to the bed was very tight at the corners and both of us had to squeeze past the bed to get out of the area. 5. The stairs to the upstairs loft are a serious safety hazard. The railing and post at the top of the stairs is loose and the steps themselves are very narrow, particularly for an older guest. The cabin was very pretty and we liked the location but the maintenance and design problems were serious enough that we wouldn't stay there again.

We had a blast staying there, but the stairs are very scary going up stairs, and back doors need work. Porch chairs are not comfortable, the ones in pictures aren’t there any more. Couch downstairs is terrible. Could be a very nice place if a little more attention was paid to the little things.

Potential

The property definitely needs some upkeep and repairs. You can see sunshine through the walls and you can feel the wind blowing inside the home. Because of the need for repairs, the house is dusty. Window sills and bathtub had dead insects. But the mgmt company was great to work with!! I hope this property gets the attention it needs- it’s such a great little place
