The Dove House | Adorable/Firepit/Quaint/Private (by WTG)
This adorable 1940's Sunday house is perfectly located between downtown Fredericksburg and the 290 Wine Trail. Situated on two private acres on a quiet street with a wood burning fireplace and it's own gate, activities here include gathering on the front porch for sunsets, wildlife viewing and peaceful mornings drinking coffee in the gorgeous vintage inspired living room and kitchen. Just 5 miles from Luckenbach, 1 mile from Bankersmith, and a 10 min country drive to downtown or the wineries.
This is a really special house. It was originally located in downtown Fredericksburg next to the Catholic church where traveling nuns would use it as quarters when visiting town. It was moved out to it's current location 15 years ago and it's more beautiful than ever. They just don't build houses like this anymore. It feels like you're in a perfect dollhouse, and the woodburning stove in the kitchen just adds to the cozy factor. The beds are super comfy, the living room is the perfect gathering spot or quiet spot to read a book. It also has a record player and vinyl collection for good music times. Surrounded by ranch land, nature, and the best stargazing you'll find!
Safety: We employ one security camera that faces out towards the driveway for everyone's safety.
The house is so cute. We enjoyed the decor, the record player and the feel of the old house. It was very clean and cozy. The only thing that could be improved was the back bedroom mattress. Otherwise it was perfect for a sweet little getaway!
This lovely little house has a great location. You have the benefit of country quiet while still being convenient to Fredericksburg. Itâs a great older home with all the conveniences you could want. The host, Jonny, was extremely attentive and available if needed.Itâs a vacation home we will certainly revisit.
We had a truly lovely stay at Dove house. The house was well appointed, hosts were very responsive whenever we reached out with questions and the location was perfect. Highly recommend!
My friends and I stayed here for the weekend for a girls trip! We loved the house so much!! There was plenty of room for all 5 of us and it was so cute. Definitely recommend and weâd love to come back one day:)
The house was what we expected. Great size, clean, in a quiet neighborhoodâŠglad we stayed here!
Beds and sofa in the bedroom
were very comfortable. Only thing I think would make it better is if there were window blinds was that the windows I. The kitchen
Very cute and nice. You must like older farm or ranch style homes. This is not a modern studio inner city stay. For the country enthusiasts this is a very cozy and comfortable stay.
My 72 year old Mom was visiting from Chicago and we decided to share Hill Country with her, including our favorite, Fredericksburg. I found this gem of a property located about 15 minutes from downtown and it was simply wonderful.
While the weather was horrific (20 degrees!) and sleeting, we arrived after a wonderful dinner at The Auslander and enjoyed the trappings of this adorable little place. Comfortable, charming and clean, it features not only an outdoor fire pit (which we couldn't use due to the weather), but also an indoor wood burning stove!
We brought our firewood from home and enjoyed a warm, toasty fire while we played cards and dice at the kitchen table.
We loved this place and will be back!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this charming little house! The vintage decor was tastefully done, and the kitchen was well-equipped with everything we needed. The host's thoughtful touch of providing milk, orange juice, and granola for breakfast was a lovely surprise. The location was perfect for us - far enough from Fredericksburg to enjoy the peace and quiet, but still within easy driving distance. We loved watching the stars and spotting wildlife from the property. One minor suggestion: it would be great to have extra toilet paper rolls on hand. Additionally, providing a bundle of firewood for the chiminea would be a nice touch for future guests (though we didn't miss it due to the fire ban).We noticed a slight musty smell upon entering the house, likely due to its age. However, it didn't detract from our overall stay.Overall, we highly recommend this cozy retreat and appreciate the host's attention to detail.
The place is adorable, with a great and convenient location, and the property owner was great with communication. Would definitely stay again and again!
Carley grew up in the Texas hill country and has been in love with it's immense natural beauty since she was a kid. She hosts along with her husband, Jonny. They are available to guests for any questions or needs before/during/after their stay.
Peaceful rural setting, but very close to all that Fredericksburg has to offer. Indoor fireplace, outdoor firepit, tons of wildlife viewing, stargazing. Just the perfect little spot to spend time with your family, friends, or just get a little "me" time!
