Welcome to Clamdigger Cottage! This pet-friendly 1950's Tybee Beach Cottage has been lovingly restored and is a vintage-inspired retreat that blends nostalgic flair with modern comfort. Whether you're a solo traveler seeking peace and quiet or a family ready for seaside adventure, this cozy hideaway offers the perfect home base.

Inside, you’ll find cheerful retro touches—think colorful accents, mid-century furnishings, and playful coastal dĂ©cor—that celebrate the spirit of old-school beach vacations. The living space is breezy and inviting, with plenty of room to unwind after a day in the surf. A well-equipped kitchen makes it easy to whip up snacks or seafood feasts, and the bedrooms are designed for restful nights and lazy mornings.
Enjoy the cottage's spacious screened porch for relaxing with coffee in the morning, curling up with a good book, and just taking in the coastal vibes of the south end of Tybee.
Nestled on the beach side of Butler Avenue, there are no roads to cross on your short stroll to the shoreline. Located on the vibrant south end of the island, you’re also within easy walking distance to Tybee’s iconic pier, Main Street shops, restaurants, and nightlife.

This 3-bedroom, 2-bath cottage features:

It is in the perfect location- walking distance to almost everything, including the beach! It had everything we needed to feel at home, and the Mermaids even provided a bottle of champagne upon arrival! There was a really bad storm the night we checked in, and one of the Mermaids called to make sure we were okay. Top notch customer service!! We absolutely enjoyed our stay and we are already looking into booking again next year! Thank you Mermaids!! 🥰

We had a wonderful time at Clamdigger. The house was just we needed. My husband and our 2 boys (9/12) stayed upstairs and our in-laws loved the apartment downstairs. We lived on the front porch from coffee to cocktails. We walked all through the neighborhoods and into town. The beach and river were close so no need to get in the car. The house vibe we perfect retro vacation vibes. Can’t wait to come back.

A roomy, private, tucked away gem in south Tybee Island Beach

Reviewer Comments: The home is in a great location, 2 blocks south of the the main restaurant/bar district and thus out of the traffic, an easy short walk to the beach, with ample room to park 3 cars. Plenty of hang out space on the main level, nice porches, large kitchen, and roomy/quiet separate suite in the basement. The owner supplied many items (coffee maker, blender, etc.) not normally found in a rental. Great having the washer/dryer onsite. The unit was clean, and both the owner and property management company were very proactive with customer service and touching base to make sure everything was good. We have rented other places nearby, and this home was much better in all aspects. We had 5 adults, and there was plenty of room for all of us.

Should also mention the artistic decor, interesting collection of board games, and the privacy of the ground floor suite. We enjoyed being on a quiet side street tucked away from the noise of the pier area which was close by.

Great cottage on the South end!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was a really nice getaway weekend with friends. The cottage has a separate downstairs bedroom with a nice shower. Upstairs has 2 bedrooms that share a bath - it's an old style clawfoot tub, so a little awkward to shower in but it works. Fantastic screened porch, and a couple of living room areas - we had plenty of room to spread out and relax. Walkable to the beach, restaurants, shopping, etc. We rented bikes (shout out to Tim's bike rental, they are fantastic, and they deliver bikes to you), and never used the car the whole trip. Thank you, Mermaids! Can't wait to come back.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We rented 2 cottages side-by-side so the grandchildren could visit the grandparents anytime and not have to cross a street. The cottages Clam-digger and Sandpiper were perfect! We were within easy walking to the beach and the screened-in porches were perfect for quiet morning coffee, lazy afternoon conversations and the occasional rainy day siesta.Both cottages were comfortable and accommodated family gatherings. The Mermaid professionals were spot on providing information, navigating emergencies and technical confusion.We had so much fun, we’ll definitely plan another visit!

Memorial Day week

Great property. Not far to walk to the beach. Parking was very tight and difficult to get in an out with a full size truck. This was the only downside. We enjoyed our stay!

Perfect Beach Cottage

We absolutely loved our stay! Mermaid Cottages was a dream to work with (excellent communication and customer service!) and the property was stunning! Such a cute retro beach vibe cottage in close proximity to the beach! The room set up was perfect for the 2 families we had - 2 nice rooms for the adults and 1 room that the kids shared. The 2 living room areas as well as the screened in porch area gave us plenty of options on places to hang out and spend time together. Kitchen was spacious and fully stocked with everything we needed to cook the groceries we brought with us and the complementary sample pack of Perc coffee was such a nice treat! We will definitely be back and will recommend to others!
