At the 4pm check-in, Tamara greeted me pleasantly and respectfully. However, I was taken aback that the lawn was overgrown (grass had seeded), her husband was inside the home repairing the washing machine, after which he began repairing a closet lock. Tamara gave me a tour of the property and requested that I water the garden daily (a completely inappropriate request). Eventually, the lawn was mowed (not edges so grass & weeds littered the steps to the front door), then a vehicle was left parked on the lawn obstructing a portion of the lawn (who does this?). Eventually, Tamara and her husband left the property at 5:40pm. It was very odd having them inside the home with us for the first one hour and 40 minutes while we were trying to get settled and oriented. Not to mention the fact that the home was not ready for the occupants. Awkward experience.
The home's cleanliness was a significant concern. What looked good at first glance, quickly revealed otherwise. A few kitchen handles were sticky, dust bunnies under sofas and beds, dead bugs randomly found in bedrooms and bathrooms. Supplies and amenities are sorely lacking. Basic things such as hand soap, dish soap, toilet paper, and paper towels. Kitchen tools and supplies are random and unusable. Drawers of empty glass jars and plastic containers, but not one working spatula or grilling tools. The propane tank was empty after one use of the grill. The description is accurate about needing to bring your own linens and towels. What is unsettling is that you are expected to place your sheets and pillowcases on top of their sheets instead of having clean mattress covers and pillowcases. There are games and toys available, but every set is missing pieces and ready for the recycle bin. The cable situation is problematic, the service is bootlegged from the ownerâs home and is unreliable. I suggest bringing your own Firestick or Roku. The owner also controls the temperature and it cannot be set lower than 72 without her overriding the system.
The description is a bit misleading. There is a playground in walking distance; however, it is on the property of a school. So it cannot be accessed while school is in session. It appears the owner is focused on finding ways to make money and charged me for a soiled rug.
I cannot recommend this property unless you are in a position to bring all your amenities to fully outfit the home, willing to do a deep cleaning, & be the on-site gardener. I regret this choice.
