July 2025- Great location with all the amenities of home. Host was great in quickly responding to questions. We traveled all over the area to come home to relax in the evening on the quiet back porch looking at the river.
This home was a pleasure to stay in. Right off the snowmobile trail, beds were comfortable and the home exceeded our expectations. We will stay here again!
The house was just what we needed for our visit to MTU. It was clean and roomyâŠWhile there we got a bit of snow overnight, the roads were plowed the next morning. We had lots of fun on our long weekend. Thanks for sharing your house with us!
The property is very conveniently located and the size was perfect for our family's stay. We loved that we had access to the garage for parking. Kim was quick to respond with our questions, and we will definitely stay again when in the area.
The house was very accommodating and spacious well maintained.
Very easy to find. Location is great to accommodate all the local areas.
I would highly recommend this to other friends.
We stayed here to visit our MTU student and the location was fantastic. We loved the fall colors all around us! The property is spacious, clean and has everything we needed. We definitely want to stay here again.
The home was quite nice with a great yard and right on Portage lake. Nice location for venturing into Houghton/Hancock as well as hiking to waterfalls and hitting the State Park beach.
Great location for a ski trip to the Keewanaw. Location was close to everything for skiing and places Houghton/Hancock area. Accommodations were very clean and had all of the equipment for cooking and relaxing with my family.
This is a beautiful home! The lake view is stunning. Great for our adult family of 6 with plenty of extra room. Perfect location between Hancock and Dollar Bay.
Kim was an excellent host and her response time to all communications was super fast.
Loved the location, close to town, shopping and being on the Portage Canal was amazing, watching all the water activities. Accommodations had everything you need.
We have booked next year as well.
The place is amazing. Very clean and spacious. Location to Houghton and the Keewenaw is perfect. We had five adults so the three bedrooms were perfect. Open kitchen/dining/living room space is perfect for being together. The outdoor patio and lawn on the water is wonderful. Loved the hot tub. This was our second time staying there and we hope to return again! Thank you for sharing your space with us!
House was perfect, great communication with property manager/owner. Check-in/check-out is seamless. Will be checking first if this property available for my next visit. Thank you for the hospitality
On the water. Great home and perfect for our family. We loved the close proximity to the town, airport and waterfront. No negatives. We hope to visit again
Very nice quiet home, with a spectacular view! All the rooms are huge! Sitting on patio is a vacation in itself with the bonus of a hot tub. This vacation home has everything you need and spotless.
Clean and neat house with everything we needed. Beautiful view of the canal especially at night. You can see Michigan tech and the loft bridge if you walk out by the water.
My kids loved the hot tub too!
Thank you!
The stay was AWESOME! The location was beautiful, Kim was great and the accommodations were lovely!
Everything was great! Highly recommend!!
Great for a weekend get away or anytime anyone wants a nice spot for a relaxing UP vacation. I bet it is pretty awesome in the winter too! There is a major trail just up from it that is a big snowmobiling trail in the winter. It is on the canal which is beautiful and has a hot tub that overlooks it, awesome spot!! Canât recommend enough đ
My husband and I drove up from Battle Creek, MI to visit our son - Dec. 2019 MTU graduate who is working remotely and living in Houghton. The property was simply beautiful. Very clean, comfortable beds, plenty of space indoors and outdoors. The covered patio, yard space and waterfront was simply beautiful.
Directions to access house were perfect. The hot tub was a delight to use and the location was very close to both Hancock and Houghton. We shopped downtown Houghton, had drinks at KBC Brewery and dinner at the Ambassador (great pizza) and the Saturday night dined at Bonfire (Continental Fire Co) and listened to a great duo - Kathy and John - we stayed for all 3 sets - they were GREAT!
Visited Copper Harbor and loved hiking Hunter's Point - goes along Lake Superior. This is our son's 6th year in Houghton so we've seen/visited a lot of the area but its always nice to see and eat somewhere new. Stopped at the Gay Bar in Gay, Michigan on the drive back.
Suggestion/wishes:
- The weather was perfect during our visit and it would have been nice to have a couple kayaks available at/near the house to put in.
- I felt bad throwing away pop/beer cans but didn't want to bring them home or run to store with returnable - might be nice to have a can in garage to leave them for you to donate to school program, etc.
We would definitely return, thank you for sharing your home!
My family and I live in the area and think the Upper Peninsula is the best place on earth! We would love to host you so you can experience this beautiful place as well!
