Property was clean and spacious. We had 7 adults, 2 four years olds, and a small dog and felt very comfortable. The kitchen was large enough for a few adults to work in at the same time and we all slept well in the comfy beds
We came up for graduation and have stayed in many VRBO properties and this was my favorite! Location is a huge factor- so beautiful and quiet-and the interior is so cute. Very cozyđ Thanks Sandy!
First, Sandy was a wonderful host. Informative, communicative, and flexible. The house is clean with lots of supplies. Great location,. Great views. Comfortable beds. We will definitely be back.
The view of Portage Canal was spectacular and the proximity to Michigan Tech and area attractions for hiking and sightseeing were perfect. Great communication with host.
This home and location were perfect for our group! There were two couples and three singles (as well as a 6 month old) in our group. Everyone had their own room (the basement had a brand new queen bed)! We cooked most dinners at home and even grilled steaks. The location was ideal, a short few minutes to trail 3. We were close enough to downtown Houghton, where we could grab takeout at The Ambassador.Five star review from check in to check out! If youâre looking for a clean, comfortable and convenient location, this house is it!
Quincy's Restaurant is right down the road from the
property, they have one of the best deep dish pizzas we've
ever tasted!
The house is big so bring some people with you!
Go to the Delaware Mine Tour.. it's underground!
The property was as advertised and the owners easy to work with. No significant problems. It's close enough to Houghton to have access to anything we needed but up in the woods and a beautiful location.
Great stay during Graduation weekend! Location was good and had beautiful views. Kitchen had all we needed to cook dinners and living area gave us plenty of room to hang out. Beds were very comfy! Be aware that there are no closets in any of the bedrooms. Good water pressure in the showers. Had an small issue with cleanliness in the kitchen but property manager was quick to respond and apologize. Overall good stay.
What a great property in the woods overlooking the portage. We were very comfortable and had everything we needed for the weekend. Charles was very responsive to any questions. Our stay was in the winter and it was beautiful. I can't imagine how nice it would be in the summer.
This was a great location for getting to the Houghton/Hancock area for bars/restaurants and still seeing the rest of the Keweenaw. There was a great beach around the corner with grills and tables. The house itself was very spacious. The kitchen and dining space were well sized for preparing meals together. Our only complaint is that the house was lacking in basic items such as trash bags, kleenex, enough toilet paper for the week, and hand soap. Otherwise, there were plenty of towels, kitchen items etc. Overall, we had a great week.
Property is amazing! House is well appointed. We did need some soap as there was nothing for the shower but there were ample towels, blow dryer and curling iron available. We rented the houses on the lower property as well as we were having a wedding and it was perfect. All close enough to walk to including the lake. Charlie was so easy to work with and accommodating. This place is a gem!
Very comfortable beds & lots of room for our group. The location was convenient for visiting family nearby & sightseeing. Communication with host & his mother was great. The microwave & grill were not cleaned which required some effort on our part to get them ready for use, but otherwise things were clean & neat. You do have to provide your own bath soap & toiletries & coffee & coffee filters (basket type).
Beautiful views of the bay, Tech and Mont Ripley both night and day. Tucked away in the woods, you feel like youâre up in a treehouse! Nice layout for two families, we came up for winter carnival and to see our Tech student. We had a little trouble finding the right house on the property, but owner responded right away to help get us there. Very handy for Hancock airport. We enjoyed a dinner at Quincyâs restaurant which is just a few minutes away.
The Kane family agreed that this house was perfect for our needs. We had three sibling families stay at the house for the four days. The kitchen was great for preparing meals for twelve when my Son showed up with his family of five. One reason I chose this house was because the kitchen/dining room could accommodate fourteen. The reunion was very successful thanks to your house.
Pricing was a bit misleading. Owners said extras were VRBO charges. Have stayed at other vacation places and I manage sonâs rental home. Maintenance/cleaning fees should be part of the nightly charge, not tacked on after you book? (Could be mistakenâŠ)
The property was the perfect location for family to gather for our sonâs graduation from MTU. Plenty of space, in a beautiful setting, for everyone. Conveniently located close to Houghton/Hancock. The only negatives were:
- Difficulty finding it. Google maps sent us past the property but we were able to find it thanks to the many pictures in the listing. If we hadnât been able to figure it out, Iâm sure Charles would have been happy to help like he was with other questions we had.
- Lack of cleanliness. The kitchen needed to be wiped down before using (syrup still on the counters, crumbs/stickiness in the refrigerator, pans/utensils needed to be washed, etc).
We stayed for a long weekend, and it ended up being exactly that. Although the communication with owners was decent and the house was nice, a lot happened. We came mainly for the location to ORV trails, and that was truly convenient. We were asked to keep all windows closed for window washers to come, which was understandable. However they never came, and it created a very hot house (no ac) to come back to. Kitchen was big for multiple families, but did not have enough serving bowls & cooking utensils for a large group. Beds are all King size, but they are cheap frames that barely stay together. One morning we woke up to a giant pile of poop on the lower screened porch. We took care of it, but it was blamed on the sons dog or window washer's dog. We also had severe rain while we stayed and we had a flooded floor (through the window) in the upper bedroom facing the lake. Maybe a fluke for all of this to happen in one weekend? You decide, but I prefer to have honest & transparent reviews.
