➤ Listing space:
This cozy log cabin is part of a 5-unit property located just across Portage Lake from Michigan Tech University and less than a mile from downtown Hancock and Houghton. Whether you’re visiting MTU, attending Winter Carnival, or just exploring the Keweenaw, this location puts you close to everything—shops, dining, breweries, and events.
You’ll find excellent local food and drink nearby, from lakefront restaurants and microbreweries to coffee shops, burgers, and artisan pizza. Favorites like Keweenaw Brewing Company, Suomi Bakery, the Ambassador, and Studio Pizza are just a few minutes away.
The cabin offers direct snowmobile and ATV trail access, so you can hop on and ride straight from the door—no trailer needed. For gear rentals, DB Motorsports is right next door with snowmobiles, pontoons, and jet skis depending on the season.
Inside, the cabin is private and fully self-contained. Outdoors, you’ll have access to shared spaces like the hot tub, sauna, firepit, and game room. The environment is active and social, especially during peak trail season, and we (your hosts) live next door if you need anything during your stay.
You’ll also enjoy all of these shared amenities:
✦ Hot tub & sauna
✦ Game room (free to play)
✦ Firepit
✦ Picnic tables
✦ Gas grill (available on request)
✦ Seasonal kayaks & bikes
✦ Cornhole game
✦ Lounging chairs by the lake
✦ Parking for vehicles & trailers
✦ Direct access to snowmobile/ATV trail system
☀️ You're welcome to enjoy our lakeside beach, which is part of our personal yard. It's a shared space, so you may see us or other guests around—but feel free to swim, relax, or launch a kayak and make yourself at home.
✧ We strive to provide the cleanest stay possible ✧
We wash 100% of bedding, including comforters and blankets—not just sheets—between each guest. Every cabin also receives a detailed deep clean before check-in to ensure a fresh, spotless stay.
Whether you're here to unwind, ride, ski, or explore, the log cabin gives you a clean, convenient, and welcoming home base in the Keweenaw.
➤ Guest access:
You’ll have the entire cabin to yourselves with private entry. You’re welcome to enjoy all shared spaces, including the hot tub, sauna, game room, firepit, kayaks, bikes (seasonal), and picnic tables by the lake. The beach is part of our yard—guests are welcome, though you may see us or others around. There’s plenty of parking, even for trailers.
➤ Interaction:
We live next door in our own home, so we're nearby if you need anything during your stay. You might see us around the property or at the beach, but we always respect your privacy. Feel free to reach out—we're happy to help.
➤ Neighborhood overview:
If you're here for outdoor adventure, MTU events, or a Keweenaw getaway, this location is hard to beat.
We’re located right on the snowmobile and ATV trail, so you can ride directly from your cabin without hauling. DB Motorsports is next door for seasonal rentals, and Mont Ripley Ski Area is just ½ mile away.
We're also less than a mile from both downtown Hancock and Houghton, where you'll find local shops, breweries, restaurants, and cozy coffee spots. The cabin is also just across the lake from Michigan Tech University, making it ideal for visiting students, families, and alumni.
Nearby attractions include the Quincy Mine Tour, Dee Stadium, Bridgefest, and the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum—plus plenty of trails, waterfalls, and scenic drives to explore the best of the Upper Peninsula.
➤ Transit/getting around:
Most guests get around by car, but once you're here, it's a quick drive to downtown Hancock, Houghton, and Michigan Tech. The snowmobile/ATV trail runs right by the cabin, so you can ride straight from your door in-season.
