From the booking of Storybook Cabin, all the way up to check out, we had fantastic communication from the owners and property manager. Everything was exactly as pictured and described. For those looking for a remote getaway but with the proximity to Santa Fe to make towny stuff still very convenient, this is a great spot. We loved the charm of the cabin's rustic build and location. There are several hikes in very close proximity that were simple and scenic. Great spot, would love to visit again!
I love the location, being close to the mountains of the Santa Fe national forest. Couldnât ask for a better location if you enjoy being off the beaten path a bit. The hosts and their neighbor were all so helpful and kind. We are excited to come back!
I want to find an authentic cabin âaway from it allâ to gather my thoughts, enjoy some peace and quiet, do a little actual work, plus work on a history book that I am writing.
What a great location, the cabin interiors are very well done in recycled barn wood and other reclaimed materials, books and games for the kiddos and plenty of room for the doggos
Rustic setting with creature comforts. Absolute privacy and silence among pine scented National Forest. Near the Plaza, but a destination in itself. So restorative and relaxing!
This cabin was the perfect end to an epic 3 week roadtrip. It has everything you need including very comfortable beds. The property is beautiful and the host/property manager very responsive. We loved the location! Remote and peaceful but only 25 minutes from downtown Santa Fe. 10/10 we would do again!
This cabin is top notch. The pictures are accurate and was well stocked with all we needed. Melanie was very fast with good communication. The early check in helped us and was much appreciated. It is an adventure getting up to the cabin. I would highly recommend the Storybook cabin for a peaceful retreat. Not far from town and 2 casinos close by.
Wonderful rustic home in the woods. I felt like Snow White! Loved the house with itâs rustic feel with all the amenities. We visited Santa Fe, Bandelier, and Los Alamos. It was so peaceful. Would love to visit again!
We loved this cabin and were impressed with the attention to detail that went in to building it. The host was friendly, informative and welcoming. The beds were comfortable, the soaker tub a plus and the ammenaties plentuful. We highly recommend staying at the Story Book Cabin if your goal is to relax, enjoy nature and take a step back in time.
We enjoyed our stay at this unique cabin. Fire stove, a cup of coffee, with beautiful had cut log beams, and dominos. Itâs quiet, breath taking and peaceful. Walked out the front door and started a hike up the mountain and a short drive to Sant Fe to see the art galleries and fine dining. We did it all. We will be back.
What an incredible home. Not only was the location just what I had hoped, the home was even better than I expected. One week was not long enough. I barely needed to leave the canyon because I was so content. Check in was perfect as was the communication with the owner and propertly manager. I was really sad to leave so soon.
Iâm a native New Mexican that currently lives in Texas. I recently told my husband I was needing the mountains, I was needing home. This place healed my spirit instantly. The cabin is exactly as described and then some. We had our 3 year old with us and she did fine; very kid friendly. Brian was there to greet us and provided a wealth of knowledge. The drive up the mountain is beautiful. The access to hikes and the river are right outside your door. They have a few games which was perfect and age appropriate (loved the very hungry caterpillar board game). The house was stocked with everything you could think of, from firewood to extra floor mats. I canât say enough wonderful things about this place. We will definitely be back next fall!!
My husband and I was there for a week in December. It was a beautiful stay and had everything we needed. The communications with the Owners and property manager was very timely.
The Owners accomplished the perfect balance between modern and rustic, anything more wouldâve tipped the ambiance away from its rustic charm.
I would advise for all to read the Ownerâs description. They made it very clear youâll need a 4x4. It snowed prior to our arrival, and we had no problem zipping up and down the hill with our truck. We made a point to arrive prior to dark setting, and glad we did. We oohed and awwed at the views.
We really enjoyed our stay at The Storybook Cabin. We were a bit surprised by the length and drive of the dirt road up the mountain but after a couple of drives we felt comfortable and got used to it. The cabin is amazing! The views are exactly as depicted in the description although, the trees and bushes were a little overgrown than in the images. That was the only real difference. Thereâs a small river that runs through the cabin grounds outdoor and you can hear itâs sound so peaceful. The days brought in a lot of sunshine through the well lit areas and the nights were cool. We slept with the windows open and it was almost too cold for us but mostly perfect! We had a really nice time! What a beautiful place!
My family and I stayed at the cabin to do a little skiing. We wanted someplace close enough to get to town but secluded to get away from it all. We got both! Amazing views and a wonderful property (wood burning stove to keep extra warm, games, etc). We had snow on the ground when we arrived and happened to be there for the biggest snow of the year and getting up and down off the mountain certainly requires a 4x4 (awd won't cut it). The property manager came by after the snow with his snowblower to clear some of the road and to shovel us out.
So nice and loved the extra effort and support. There was a wonderful meadow that the kids were able to tube down and had a blast. We will certainty be back again.
My husband and I so very much enjoyed our stay at the Story Book Cabin. We were weary of the unusual blistering temperatures at home so we were hoping for a reprieve at the cabin. And we found it! Nestled in the trees the cabin was cool and cozy and charming. We had everything we needed at the cabin and only left once for a late lunch at Rancho de Chamayo. We walked up the hill along the road each day. A road best taken with a car with high clearance and maybe 4 wheel drive....we tried in our Honda and turned back. We would have loved a little information from owner or property manager about the immediate area like what IS up the road, are there hiking trails? And some history on this adorable cabin would have cured my curiosity. But none of this lack of information interfered with our lovely, delightful stay. I would come back tomorrow if life permitted.
Doug and I have bought the Storybook Cabin as our future retirement home. We love the home, and exploring the Santa Fe Plaza. We have a property manager named Brian that will be available to you if needed.
