1.5 Acres Gorgeous 1860s Colonial House & Carriage Apartment
This spacious home has a main house with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and then the detached carriage house with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Your whole group will enjoy easy access to everything from this centrally located property. Nestled on 1.5 acres, all is for your enjoyment when both buildings are booked together. This house is the closest to Hammonasset Beach State Park than any other in all of Madison... just walk across the street to the Greenway Trail which is a beautiful nature walk to the beach. Hammonasset Beach boasts 2 gorgeous miles of white sandy beach to relax, explore & enjoy!
My girlfriends and I chose this stay for its comfort and location. Four women in need of rest. It was wonderful. We met both needs of the CrossFit folks and the nature walk lover. We shopped local. Loved R.J Julia Booksellers and Bar Bouchee. There was charcuterie and tarot readings. Kevin was great in his communication. Great Stay!
We had a large family get together for a weekend and were looking for a comfortable house that could accomodate us. This house was beautiful, very clean, and a great location. Owner was very nice and easy to work with. Highly recommend!
We had a great stay in Madison! The home was fantastic and it was the perfect middle point for our friends form Boston and NYC. So quick to do many great locations like the beach, restaurants and ice cream. We cannot wait to come back next year!
The colonial house and carriage house were beautifully depicted on the VRBO page, but in person blew me away.
Kevin, property manager, was super communicative and helpful. All info, guidance and communication was great and super easy.
The special touches of adding hand soap, toiletries, kitchen supplies, k-pods, etc. were wonderful and truly a lovely touch.
The decor was perfect and fit each space; so well-appointed. Loved all the area rugs, artwork and design of the house. The addition of multiple full mirrors in various bedrooms and in the carriage house was on point!
My family was more than comfortable and truly thrilled with the house and their stay. WIN!
Madison is a beautiful town. Ee enjoyed exploring it especially R.J. Cafe & Bistro along with Julia's Bookstore. The Stop & Shop was prefect for all our needs. And visiting the Hammonset State Park was great! Love seeing the beach during the fall and in New England, no less.
My family made some great memories! We look forward to another visit in the future to make more memories.
We would definitely return to the colonial house & carriage to stay again!
This Madison, CT house is amazing! I stayed there with a group of girlfriends for a few nights and there was plenty of space to spread out and also come together. We enjoyed the original elements of the house along with the modern upgrades. Itâs centrally located to everything you would need and the beach. I would stay there again without a second thought!
Our family planned a last minute surprise birthday for a family member. We had children (7 and 10) and a host of adults in their 70s-30s staying the weekend, and 2 dogs. It never felt crowded. The beds are amazingly comfortable, the bare timber ceilings on the second floor, beautiful. Huge yard. Great fire pit. Jogging trail literally across the street. 10 minutes away from great local food and shopping. All kitchen amenities one could ask for. If you have a mobility challenged guest they may struggle with the natural stone walkways, the stairs from the driveway to the guest house, or the steep stairs may cause issues as we had one guest that found them challenging. This is an old house, beautifully renovated and modern inside, but the original build for mobility does not equate to modern standards (as one would expect). We plan on returning for many more family events! Kevin is amazing.
I'm originally from Montreal, Canada. Spent a few years traveling and living in different places & countries. UCONN alumni, and settled in Madison in 2003 where I've been a small business owner. We fell in love with this property the first time we saw it. The house was vacant for many years, so it was a labor of love updating & remodeling in the spring of 2021. We hope you love it as much as we do!
This neighborhood is the closest to Hammonasset Beach State Park than any other. You can certainly drive the 1 mile, but the Greenway Trail is a beautiful wooded walking and biking trail just across the street that goes directly to the beach.
This property has 2 separate airbnb rentals on it... one is the main house that sleeps 8, and then this newly renovated, fully equipped carriage house apartment which is 50ft from the main house, has a private entrance and is located on the second floor. The only space shared between the 2 buildings is the driveway; you will have your own entrance, private outdoor patio set and fire-pit area. Relax and enjoy your stay!
