This sunny, charming beachfront home is just steps from the sand, containing 7 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, and features all the comforts of home. Located just 60 minutes from Chicago and 50 minutes from South Bend, this home is perfect for summer vacations, weekend winery tours, and Notre Dame sports weekends. Only a private sand dune separates this home from one of Lake Michigan's most gorgeous beaches, so you can enjoy the privacy of your own yard while celebrating the tranquility of beach front living.

The recently refreshed home features a large open living, dining, and (fully stocked) kitchen area offering sunny, sweeping views of the waterfront dune. Over 800 square feet of deck and 450 square feet of patio space with a large fire pit and plenty of seating offer tons of space for dining and enjoying the beach. The house also has an outdoor shower, an extra den with a flat screen TV, a large private back (sand) yard, and an indoor/outdoor speaker system.

Family beach vacation

We enjoyed everything about this house. It was well stocked with the essentials and was very clean. Easily fit grandparents and two families of 4. Loved the location on the dune and the incredible short walk to the beach access. Would definitely stay here again.

Perfect Beach House Location

The real charm of this house is the feeling of seclusion, although it is in a pretty densely populated area, and the direct access to the beach. The back deck area is perfect! The kitchen is very accommodating and stocked with plenty of dishes, glasses and cooking ware. Plenty of beach towels are provided too. A great place!

Family Vacation

Enjoyed the family time. Very quiet area. Missed not having the foosball table as shown in pictures. Greatly appreciated the beach chairs, beach toys & beach towels being included.

Lovely place to stay

We were here for a funeral and this home was a wonderful place to gather with family as the deck and family room are perfect. With 7 bedrooms, although smallish, everyone had their own space to which to retreat. It is a very well stocked hpuse and Brittany was soo sweet and communication was excellent. She even left us flowers and a condolence card. We hope to return to this beach house again and spend more time on the great beach that's such an easy walk from the house. Thank you for sharing !

On the Dune

The location directly on the dune is great. The outdoor patio has lots of seating, and a separate fire pit area, which makes for great evenings as the sun sets. Plenty of beach towels and chairs. Our second time at the house!

Great location and wonderful house

The house had plenty of space, was in a prime location to the beach and had a great outdoor space. Loved the views, especially at sunset. House has everything we needed for a long weekend stay and the owners very responsive to questions. Would stay again.

Girls trip 2023!

Wonderful home! Pictures don’t do it justice, it’s even cuter in person. The location was perfect…( but do yourself a favor and use the public path a couple doors down, that dune can be tough when carrying a lot.) Owners were very helpful with questions before our stay. This place had everything we needed to make our 12th annual girls (teachers and administrators) trip a big success! Would love to visit again :)

Fantastic Vacation in Michigan City!

The house and property were great! The check-in process was smooth. We loved the huge deck, fire pit, grill, private dune entrance, neighbors, plethora of beds and baths, big kitchen, dining area, washer/dryer, fireworks and convenient/plentiful parking. My suggestions would be: fix the water in main shower (no hot water), toilet seat broke, bathroom floors were dirty, outdoor shower didn't work, game table was falling apart, upstairs shower did not drain (filled with sand). These are small suggestions; we had a great week. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful house with us! I would definitely recommend this rental!

Relaxing weekend

This house was great for our large group of adults and kids (ages 1-4). The property had everything we needed, from a well-stocked kitchen to beach toys/chairs to a fire pit. We enjoyed going to the beach close-by but still separated by a dune for backyard privacy. Felt like the property accommodated us even more than expected from the listing!

Lovely lake stay

The beach house is beautiful, spacious, and perfectly located right on the beach. We enjoyed the large deck and fire pit. The kitchen was stocked with everything we could need. The ample supply of towels, beach chairs, and sand toys came in handy with the kids. The den and foosball table were much loved by the kids and allowed the adults some time away from them. Thank you for a great getaway.

Family Reunion Fun

We had a wonderful time at How You Dune! The view from the top of the dune was a bonus when watching the speed boat races and the sunsets. Some of our best photos ever! Communication with the owner was excellent. They were very responsive to our questions /concerns.

Great time, great place!!

We rented this for my parents 45th anniversary celebration. 15 of us from 6-68 stayed in the house and had plenty of room and space if needed! Short walk to the most beautiful beach and lots of toys/floats/chairs come with the rental. Highly recommend! Thanks for the amazing memories!!

Perfect Retreat

After 2 very difficult years, we rented the house as a retreat for our school administrator team in order to get work done and spend quality time together. It was perfect! The house was clean, very well stocked, and roomy enough for our group of 10. The hosts were very responsive and friendly. It was just the thing we needed to meet the needs of our group and we have already agreed to rent it again for next years retreat.

Everything our family needed!

We stayed here with cousins, aunts/uncles and grandparents (12 people total), and it suited us all. The owners were absolutely gracious and kind to work with. We'd stay there again! Oh and the beach was gorgeous!

Great location, perfect for families

We stayed here with two other families (6 adults, 8 kids under age 6!) and had a wonderful beach trip. The house is set up perfectly for family groups, especially all the seating and tables on the large deck. The bedrooms and bathrooms are also well situated for multiple families or extended families. The location was great, the house is right on the dunes and you can walk directly from the house over the dune to Sheridan Beach (we ended up often taking the longer, less steep route from the public lot since we were usually carrying kids), which was super helpful and convenient when trips back and forth to the house inevitably occurred. The beach itself was great for kids in the morning - waves were very gentle and there's a long shallow part before you hit a sandbar. The crowd definitely got a little rowdier in the afternoons and evenings, but at that point we were pretty much heading in for the night anyways : ) and didn't have any issues with noise from the house. Sunsets were beautiful from the top of the dunes! All in all, a great spot to relax and enjoy some beach time. Brittany was great to work with and accommodating of our requests. Would recommend!
