Big Red a seulement 2 ans et a un plan d'étage ouvert avec de nombreuses améliorations, y compris une cuisinière à loup à gaz à six brûleurs et un réfrigérateur sous zéro avec une salle à manger spacieuse à la fois sur et sous le porche grillagé. La cuisine ouverte permet de grands rassemblements avec beaucoup de comptoir pour que de nombreux cuisiniers soient dans la cuisine! Le gril à gaz est idéalement situé hors du porche grillagé. Big Red surplombe le terrain de jeu et est entouré de beaux grands chênes sur une colline dans un cadre très privé. Il y a 5 chambres dont 3 lits queen et 2 chambres avec 2 ensembles de lits superposés. La maison peut accueillir 14 personnes confortablement et il est possible d'inclure des matelas ou des lits supplémentaires. Deux des chambres de la Reine ont des écrans plats pour regarder la télévision et une porte qui mène au pont du 2ème étage avec un mobilier d'extérieur confortable pour observer les étoiles.
Big Red est équipé de 4 salles de bain complètes, 1 des salles de bain a une baignoire complète et les autres sont des douches. Big Red a une buanderie avec des installations de taille normale.
La salle familiale de Big Red est incroyable avec une télévision grand écran et une cheminée confortable et suffisamment de sièges pour tous! C'est vraiment une maison pour créer des traditions familiales!
En bas des escaliers est un paradis pour les enfants avec une chambre avec des canapés et des chaises confortables, un DVR avec plus de 500 films pour garder les petits occupés à la fin d'une journée de farniente à la plage!

Big Red est livré avec une voiturette de golf assortie pour conduire la famille vers le magnifique lac Michigan ou tout simplement pour faire le tour et profiter de la vue!

Big Red Get Away

Beautiful home close to the beach and pool. The kids enjoyed going to the park daily. Lots of close activities nearby, zoo, outlet mall, botanical gardens. Enjoyed our stay!

Great place for families

We had a great week staying at Big Red. Plenty of room for large families (12 in our group ranging in age 1-67) to share meals, cook, play games or just hangout. Kitchen is very large, updated and well stocked. The owner was close by and very quick to respond when asked a question. Lots to offer for all ages.

A good time was had by all.

The property suited our family admirably. The large kitchen/living room we used a great deal and it was very comfortable. The kids enjoyed the games available in the game chest.

This home was more than we could ask for. Everything is right there within the resort. The house was clean and big enough for everyone to have their own space. We would love to come back and stay again.

Great House

We really enjoyed our stay at Big Red! The owner lives nearby and was very communicative and helpful before and throughout our stay. The location is great and having access to the golfcart was extra convenient. It was really nice having a place with so many beds and bathrooms for several families to stay together for a reunion. Highly recommend, and we hope to be back again in the future!

Wonderful!! Plenty of sleep area & quiet get away space with front porch chairs, long screened back porch, balcony.. Amenities- pool, beach, private fishing pier (no license needed & the fish & snapping turtle), sand volleyball, golf cart. Host was the best!! Kathy

I could not say enough good things about this house and the owner! We had a wonderful week at "Big Red". The house and its amenties were exactly as advertised (if not nicer). The house was clean and stocked full of toys for the kids, movies for the family, and beach supplies. JR took great care of us and we had a family vacation that we won't soon forget. Thank you JR!

Perfect for 3 Families

We have been traveling to Beachwalk for years. This was our first time renting at Big Red. The space was perfect for our 3 families (14 people) with kids ranging from 7-14. It was conveniently located right next to the park. We had some minor inconveniences pop-up after arrival (light bulbs, batteries, low tire issue on the golf cart). The host was prompt to respond and assisted with correcting the concerns and even offered us to stay an extra day for the inconvenience. Although we weren’t able to stay, we were able to make our checkout a little later which was a wonderful option. Thank you JR & Theresa for hosting us.

A fine family time at the beach!

We were a party of 7, ranging from 2 to 74 - and we had a great time being together. We used the golf cart or walked to and from the beach ( a 10 minute walk at most), swam, cooked, ate, read, etc. The 2-year old loved being right next door to the playground (and the golf cart!). We took short trips to Sawyer, the Botanical Gardens, the local movie theater, and the Casino, but mostly took it VERY easy. Michigan City is easily reached from Midway Airport too. The kitchen is very well stocked for cooking; the house is very clean; there are many beach towels, etc. and the house sleeps 14!

Loved the open upper back deck with Adirondack chairs on it & how it stayed shady & cool with the trees behind it. Jonathan was very quick to respond with any questions we had, his home was very clean & well kept up & the location was perfect for getting to the beach. The golf cart was a lot of fun in getting to the beach or the pool & it was a bonus to have beach supplies already provided for us in the basement. Expect to have to park in the overflow parking lot just a few doors down if you have more than 1 vehicle though. Overall our group of ages 8 months through 77 years old had a great time & I would recommend staying there especially if you like the beach which was wonderful.

Stay at Bug Red

The house is amazing. The kitchen was very well equipped. We brought our own kitchen aid mixer and discovered they had one. Coffee maker and Keurig were there Two sizes of crock pots. Sharp knives. Great appliances. We used the washer and dryer we brought our own detergent but they some there. The screened in porch was great. Everyone loved the golf cart. The beds were nice lots of towels were there. We had 8 people 2 were small children. The deck on the second floor was beautiful but we did not utilize it. The host was on site and very kind and nice Thanks for a good reunion

Big Red is the perfect family vaca place

The Big Red House is the perfect place to have a family vacation! Plenty of bed and bath space. The kitchen is large with first-class appliances. The laundry room has big appliances for those large loads in case it's needed. There's plenty of sitting areas from the front porch to the two decks across the back of the house. They overlook a nice tree line making it feel secluded. The grill worked great. There's even a little fire pit in the front. The house is next to a common play ground our kids really liked when we weren't using the golf cart to go to the beach. A small lake for free kayaking and water boards along with the pool, a little fishing pier and snack shack is within a couple of blocks, an easy stroll from The Big Red. The owner was quickly available when we had questions. Lots of toys, games and movies available in the house. Our family group loved it!!

A wonderful family trip!

We absolutely loved staying at Big Red! The house was perfect for our family - grandparents, parents + 3 kids. The location is perfect (next to the park) and the house is comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. The owners were easily accessible and very quick to respond to anything we needed. We’ll be staying again next year!

We loved Big Red

This was a great family house. Huge open kitchen, dining and family room. We spent hours on the shady, screened in porch. Everything worked well and was very clean. The owners were super responsive. The area is perfect for multigenerational families. You never have to get in your car! We walked or took the golf cart everywhere. At night, the whole neighborhood is filled with families sitting around a campfire. It’s such a happy, peaceful place!

Great house in a fun area

We enjoyed our stay at Big Red. The house has a great Kentucky Derby theme with cool art and mementos. The neighborhood is a golf cart vacation rental community with a pool, a lake with a small beach and easy access to Lake Michigan across the street from the community. The house has a nice layout with a big living room and nice sized kitchen and dining area and a screened porch that has tables for additional seating that we really enjoyed. The bathroom situation is a little odd -- 4 full baths total but one is in the basement and one on first floor. There are only 2 bathroom upstairs that all 5 bedrooms share. Lots of towels, including beach towels and a nice laundry room. We loved having the golf cart to zip around the neighborhood. JR is very responsive and quickly got back to us with what we needed. House was mostly well stocked. We needed to ask for a broom and the only vacuum was a roomba that no one could figure out -- a regular vacuum or a nice broom with dust pan would be nice. The area is neat -- we enjoyed Washington Park zoo, free Thursday evening concert in the park, the friendship Botanical garden and the Dunes state park.

Big Red - Great Family Vacation!!

Big Red was everything we wanted for a family vacation! The house was beautiful and had all the extras. Make sure you read the description. The house has games, kayak, scooters, floaties, beach towels, laundry soap, etc. We brought way more than we needed. There is a nice grocery store 5-10 minutes away with reasonable prices. The rental came with a golf cart which was so nice to ride around and go to the beach, which is right around the corner. I would recommend it you have more than 5 people, rent another golf cart.

Big Red was perfect for our extended family getaway. It had plenty of space. JR was very responsive with any questions I had. I would highly recommend staying here.

Idyllic Indiana

My family and I spent the most wonderful five days at "Big Red." I had never been to Michigan City, Indiana, and didn't know what to expect. The area where the house is situated is ideal. It is a "neighborhood" of colorful summer homes, each having their own unique name. The area has a big pool for the guests and is really close to the beach. I loved the convenience of the golf cart for these quick 1-5 minute trips to swim, play in the sand, or to get ice cream. "Big Red" is also right next to a kids park, which our three little ones loved. It was a great way to fill in the gaps between the outings and naps. The house was clean, spacious, had a great kitchen, and comfortable living room, where we all could hang out and relax. The rooms slept everyone just fine and the closets/dressers were big enough for all our clothes. There are also plenty of bathrooms on the different levels of the house. JR is a superb host. He made some fun recommendations, including music in the park and restaurants. He responded very quickly and is nearby, if you need him to assist with anything. I would be thrilled if my family is able to go to this home every year. It felt like the kind of idyllic summer vacation you always remember.

Many, Many pros but a few cons

First, let us say that Jonathan was an excellent host. He was responsive, communicative both through VRBO and via text when our visit began. When we arrived we noticed that some of the beds had light sand in them likely wrapped up in the dryer.. There were hairs on pillowcases. One of the comforters was also dirty - dog hair? When we made Jonathan aware of the problem he offered immediately to send the cleaning crew out but since our rooms were already unpacked and we had "moved in, we declined. We so appreciated the offer. Pros: The house is amazing for larger groups. Upstairs has two rooms with double bunks and then there are 3 rooms with queens. The family living space is huge and fantastic. The outdoor deck for dining off the kitchen in the screened porch was bug free and perfect to being outside without being outside. The kitchen is stocked and ready for cooking for large groups. Almost every kitchen pot, pan and utensil you would need. I'd bring your own oil if you really want to cook....there were just a smattering of salts, peppers and seasonings. Having access to a golf cart in the very kid-friendly community of homes was a huge plus and highlight for our family. The cart ran smoothly and was easily recharged. After a day at the beach, the hose out front was perfect for washing off sandy feet. House seems to have been renovated in last 5 years or so and the paint colors and applicances and bathroom amenities were top notch. Also, bonus...no squeaky floors! Decent selection of games and a bonus piano if someone in your group wants to perform some Elton John covers... Cons: There was no master bath so one hallway bathroom is for the bunk rooms and 1 queen room. Potentially 10 people. The other two queen rooms are connected by a Jack and Jill galley style bathroom with no divider space between sinks, showers and toilet. Despite trying multiple times, we could not get the gas grill outside to heat up past 250 degrees -- even with all 4 burners on. The beds are starting to show their age. Seems like the life of the beds was trying to be extended by adding mattress toppers, but really didn't work. When you are in bed with someone else and they move or get up....the bed squeaks and moves - not conducive to a great night of vacation sleep. We thought it was just the bed in one of the queen rooms but comparing notes at breakfast indicated it was more than one bed. Many. many pros, but a few cons...

Great stay at Big Red

Had a wonderful experience staying at Big Red for 4 nights! Great location, Great amenities, great property! The owner was extremely responsive and helpful. The property was clean and private. Golf cart was great to use around the neighborhood and bring the families to the beach. Also close to tons of hiking trails among the state and national parks! We look forward to returning in the future!
