6/10 Satisfaisant

Overall the cottage is a sweet and charming space for 2. It is directly on the Townsend Gut. You canât get any closer to the water. Upon arrival, our first impression is that the space is exceptionally clean and the grounds are well-maintained. The kitchen is suitable to prepare a lobster dinner. But donât forget salt & pepper. The small bathroom is updated and adequate. We enjoyed the consistent entertainment of the boat traffic throughout the day. Including the early morning lobsterman pulling his traps directly in front of the cottage each morning. This property is close to all things in Boothbay without the chaos of the crowds. Dinner at the local restaurant 0.1 mile walk, served the typical Maine fare. A charming swing bridge is next to the cottage. Not so charming is that a bell sounds a warning when it is opening and closing for larger boat traffic starting early in the morning and well into the evening. Sadly, naps are out of the question. The swing bridge is the Southport Bridge that carries Route 27 over the Townsend Gut at the Boothbay Harbor/Southport town line within 15 feet of the cottage. There is 24/7 traffic with constant road noise. Luckily we only had reserved for 2 nights. Because of this, we will not be staying here again.
