Why The Rusty Goat is the perfect for vacation getaway

The Rusty Goat is a labor of love for us. We built this beautiful 2 bedroom/1 bath cabin in our favorite community, Hidden Lake. After more than a year, it was finally completed in the spring of 2020. Hidden Lake, located in Cherry Log, is where we bought our very first cabin for our family in 2016 and fell in love with the wonderful people and beautiful setting.

You can see the gorgeous view of Rich Mountain from the front porch of the Rusty Goat and enjoy the sunrise in the morning. The master bedroom has a comfy king-sized bed while the second bedroom has a daybed with a trundle underneath—perfect for children and teens. The living room has a gas fireplace and comfy leather furniture. The kitchen as everything you need to make a great meal and includes an assortment of pots and pans, utensils, plates, glasses, coffee maker, blender, and slow-cooker. It even has a dishwasher. There is also a washer/dryer combo as well.

Sorry, this is NOT a pet-friendly cabin. We do allow pre-approved dogs at our other cabins.

The cabin is best to accommodate couples or those with children or teens. The second bedroom has a daybed with a pull-out trundle that takes up most of the flood space. While it is perfect for kids, not so much for adults. The closet in that room is also inaccessible due to storage of housekeeping supplies.

The town of Blue Ridge is less than a 10-minute drive north where you will find great restaurants, shopping, and the famous Swann Drive-In Theater. Ellijay is about 15 minutes south and it too has a great downtown square with lots of great shops and restaurants as well. There are at least a dozen wonderful wineries in and around these two towns that we highly recommend. Don't miss a minute of the fun and relaxation you've been craving. Nice Get-away

We enjoyed our stay at the Rusty Goat. Its location was great between Elijah and Blue ridge. We loved the cabin and can hopefully return someday soon.

Super cozy for a romantic getaway!

My husband and I took a last-minute trip to Blue Ridge to celebrate his birthday and I'm so glad we found the Rusty Goat! It was perfect for the two of us, immaculately clean and probably the coziest cabin we've ever stayed at, and convenient to both Ellijay and Blue Ridge. Sandy was an excellent host, very responsive in communications and gave us very clear driving directions and instructions. We had a wonderful weekend and would love to visit again in the future!

My husband and I spent 5 nights in this beautiful little cabin! The view from the front porch is amazing!!! Cabin was exactly as advertised, very clean, we loved everything about it. Rusty Goat weekend

A cozy, well-equipped mountaintop cabin with a great view. Its location midway between Ellijay and Blue Ridge gives easy access to the many amenities and charms of these two towns. Host Sandy describes this property beautifully, and do not ignore her advise regarding directions to the Rusty Goat!

This place was amazing . I am always a bit skeptical about online photos being accurate but “The Goat” is absolutely on target. We had everything we needed, the bed was so comfortable, the place was spotless and the location was perfect for exploring the area.

Beautiful, clean cabin!

This cozy cabin is perfect for a getaway for two. I stayed with my daughter on a short mother/daughter getaway. The cabin is clean, beautifully decorated, and well supplied with things like toilet paper, paper towels, dishwasher liquid, etc. to make your stay stress-free. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!!

Relaxing weekend getaway

Picnics on front deck, visited local vineyards, farm stores, shopping in both Ellijay & Blue Ridge. Perfect location between the two towns. Excellent stocked cabin for 2 adults!

Perfect Weekend Getaway!

My Fiancé and I came up for the weekend celebrating our anniversary. Beautiful cabin, very clean, beautifully decorated, great location. Sitting on the porch with that view and listening to the birds chirping was so peaceful. The owner was wonderful. We love the outdoors so we loved being close to several wildlife management areas. We will return!

Love this place!

This was our 2nd stay at the Rusty Goat cabin and it was just as wonderful as last time. The views from every window never disappoints! Close to Blue Ridge but off the beaten path! Love it!

Perfect getaway for a couple

The cabin and location were perfect. There are other cabins in the area but none that are close enough to take away the feeling of privacy. The view is absolutely stunning from the front porch, which can be seen from the large windows in the living area. The cabin was very clean and everything we needed was provided. Communication with the owner was excellent and the check-in/check-out process was a breeze! We can't wait to return!

Weekend getaway.

Really nice cabin with a great view. Clean and comfy with a nice TV to watch the Daytona 500. Only, 8 miles from Blue Ridge where we spent our days. Great owner/ manager who made the check-in and check-out easy. We will be back to Cherry Log very soon!

Beautiful cabin in Blue Ridge

We had never been to this area of Georgia and were looking forward to exploring the Blue Ridge area. Sandy’s cabin was the perfect place to stay with a gorgeous view of the Blue Ridge mountains. Clean & Cozy with a Beautiful View

If you are looking for a place to stay in the North Georgia mountains, The Rusty Goat is the place! It did not disappoint! The owner is very communicative and helpful. It's easy to find, has everything you need, very clean, beautiful mountain view and is in a great location! We enjoyed our time there and look forward to going back!

We fell in love with this part of North Georgia mountains after vacationing here numerous times over our 20+ years of marriage. We bought our first small cabin for a weekend getaway for ourselves in the summer of 2016 and have since moved to Ellijay full-time. We wanted to share our love of the area by buying and renting cabins that we know our guests will enjoy as much as we did during our many vacations here.

It's located in Cherry Log which is conveniently located between Ellijay and Blue Ridge and within a few minutes of shopping and restaurants. It's surrounded by beautiful trees on top of a mountain in the best cabin community in all of Gilmer County!
