Why The Rusty Goat is the perfect for vacation getaway

The Rusty Goat is a labor of love for us. We built this beautiful 2 bedroom/1 bath cabin in our favorite community, Hidden Lake. After more than a year, it was finally completed in the spring of 2020. Hidden Lake, located in Cherry Log, is where we bought our very first cabin for our family in 2016 and fell in love with the wonderful people and beautiful setting.

You can see the gorgeous view of Rich Mountain from the front porch of the Rusty Goat and enjoy the sunrise in the morning. The master bedroom has a comfy king-sized bed while the second bedroom has a daybed with a trundle underneath—perfect for children and teens. The living room has a gas fireplace and comfy leather furniture. The kitchen as everything you need to make a great meal and includes an assortment of pots and pans, utensils, plates, glasses, coffee maker, blender, and slow-cooker. It even has a dishwasher. There is also a washer/dryer combo as well.

Sorry, this is NOT a pet-friendly cabin. We do allow pre-approved dogs at our other cabins.

The cabin is best to accommodate couples or those with children or teens. The second bedroom has a daybed with a pull-out trundle that takes up most of the flood space. While it is perfect for kids, not so much for adults. The closet in that room is also inaccessible due to storage of housekeeping supplies.

The town of Blue Ridge is less than a 10-minute drive north where you will find great restaurants, shopping, and the famous Swann Drive-In Theater. Ellijay is about 15 minutes south and it too has a great downtown square with lots of great shops and restaurants as well. There are at least a dozen wonderful wineries in and around these two towns that we highly recommend. Don't miss a minute of the fun and relaxation you've been craving. 1. Signed rental agreement and ID is required. Minimum age to rent is 25. Pet fee of $75 for each pre-approved dog up to 2 (except Rusty Goat cabin).

2. A security deposit hold up to $100 will be placed against credit card within 24 hours of arrival and will be released within 3 days after stay.

3. Smoking is NOT permitted in cabin, on decks, or on porch; violation forfeits damage deposit. No parties or events allowed or overnight guests.

Perfect Weekend Getaway!

My Fiancé and I came up for the weekend celebrating our anniversary. Beautiful cabin, very clean, beautifully decorated, great location. Sitting on the porch with that view and listening to the birds chirping was so peaceful. The owner was wonderful. We love the outdoors so we loved being close to several wildlife management areas. We will return!

Spectacular experience !

The information the owner proved regarding the rental agreement, list of supplies, etc. was extremely timely and comprehensive. The cabin and view was true to what was depicted in the pictures online. The cabin was clean beyond one's imagination ! Overall an outstanding experience !

Perfect getaway for a couple

The cabin and location were perfect. There are other cabins in the area but none that are close enough to take away the feeling of privacy. The view is absolutely stunning from the front porch, which can be seen from the large windows in the living area. The cabin was very clean and everything we needed was provided. Communication with the owner was excellent and the check-in/check-out process was a breeze! We can't wait to return!

Feels like new

We were very impressed with the upkeep even though the cabin is a few years old it feels like walking into a new home. Every detail was thought of therefore we lacked or needed nothing. The view speaks for itself, the serenity at this property is true blessing.

We fell in love with this part of North Georgia mountains after vacationing here numerous times over our 20+ years of marriage. We bought our first small cabin for a weekend getaway for ourselves in the summer of 2016 and have since moved to Ellijay full-time. We wanted to share our love of the area by buying and renting cabins that we know our guests will enjoy as much as we did during our many vacations here.
