à propos de cet hébergement
Cottage in The Woods, Nelson
Come and get away from it all and relax in the West Kootenays in our private guesthouse/cottage just minutes away from the eclectic town of Nelson. Itâs an ideal place for you and your family to unwind or work remotely; with internet, large windows providing plentiful light, and spectacular views of forrest, Kootenay River and snow capped mountains.
This is a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom home on a private 15 acre retreat with soaring trees, a bubbling creek, access to a riverside beach and a hot tub.
The main bedroom has a queen sized bed and the second bedroom also has a queen bed. The living room sofa pulls out to a queen bed - a sumptuous 4 inch mattress topper is available upon request.
The kitchen is fully equipped with everything required for a quiet dinner at home.
We are grateful to have high speed internet powered by satellite and we make every effort to ensure you have an uninterrupted WiFi connection. For your entertainment there is a TV with DVD player, Apple TV (with Netflix, Disney+ and Prime), a large DVD library, and games. Childrenâs toys and equipment are available upon request.
Directly around the cottage, you can savour your own dedicated outdoor spaces. These include front and back decks, a private back yard and even a fire pit. They are perfect for enjoying the picturesque setting anytime of day.
A 7 person hot tub is sumptuously placed on a on a purpose build outdoor landing. While soaking your stress away, enjoy views of the mountains, valley and lake. (This amenity is shared with the other dwellings on the property)
We are located 15 minutes west of Nelson on Highway 3A, part of the breathtaking Selkirk Loop. Situated on a mountainside just off the highway but secluded enough to take you away from it all.
Our property is privately positioned with no neighbours in sight, but you can hear the sound of the creek in your backyard and catch an occasional glimpse of roaming elk, deer and even turkeys. A stunning walk through the forest takes you to a secluded beach on the shores of Kootenay Lake. It's simply breathtaking.
In the summer you can enjoy a swim in the lake, or float your inner tube down the Slocan River. For those more adventurous there's kayaking, whitewater rafting, mountain biking, rock climbing and more just outside your door. There is also great shopping, museums, coffee shops and galleries in the historic town of Nelson to top off your day.
In the fall you have your choice of rivers to drop in a fly and enjoy the flyfishing that British Columbia is famous for.
In the winter, Whitewater Ski Resort is 20 minutes away or Red Mountain less than an hour away. Heli-Skiing and Cat-skiing are also locally available. There are multiple nordic ski trails to choose from and endless trails for snowshoeing.
What a wonderful place to escape the pandemic and get in touch with nature!
The cottage is dog friendly. Guidelines for dogs are as follows:
o Please do not leave your dog unattended in the cottage (unless crated) or tied up outside
o Please do not allow your dog to roam the property unattended
o A $25 pet fee applies
***
The property contains 2 other rental dwellings. Each rental group has their own autonomous space and privacy.
- All 3 dwellings can be rented individually or as a group
- In total the property has 14 beds and can sleep up to 24 people
- We are open to inquiries about retreats and small weddings

Foire aux questions
Qui vous reçoit ?
Vous ĂȘtes reçu par John Wilkinson

We love travel and the outdoors. We both adventured extensively as individuals and continued to see the world together. Africa, India, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, South America and Central America have all been destinations. We adore visiting places and especially also meeting new people, exploring cultures, encountering languages and embracing music.
Our biggest adventure of all was realized when our daughter joined our family. We are exceptionally grateful to have traveled with her as well.
