A perfect stay; Loved being on the Ile de la Cite and it was a great apartment
We had a great time at this historic location. Although in the most central and popular spots in Paris (Ile de la Cite/Notre Dame), it was very quiet and we were able to really enjoy a great stay in Paris.
The apartment was perfect for the 4 of us and a great location for walking to many places and the metro. We utilized it for having breakfast in the apt before starting our daily site seeing by stocking up at the local grocery store. We checked out many different restaurants around the area and it was nice to bring back any leftovers for eating later. This trip of a lifetime was everything we hoped it would be. Thank you for the great accommodations.
Showers were add-ons. difficult to get in and out with a narrow opening. I am 83. There were no grab bars There was no soap? Perfect location. Would do it again except for the showers.
The location was great. The apartment was quaint, clean and well appointed. The beds were comfortable with nice bedding and there were good restaurants nearby. However we could not take showers because as soon as we got in and regulated the temp, the water turned cold, literally in seconds. I got no answers from the host when I enquired about this. Also we could not use the washer dryer because it was full of wet towels and the directions were impossible to decipher. David came by to try and dry the towels but they remained very damp until the day we left.I can wash the underwear by hand, but I cannot recommend a place that does not offer warm showers.
The boiler would go out every 2 minutes resulting in a cold shower until the boiler was reset manually. The shower drain was also clogged and there were a lot of broken tiles. The location was excellent though.
Incredible location in a great neighborhood! The apartment worked well for our family of 4 with the 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The ac unit and fans kept the apartment comfortable during the August heatwave. Unfortunately, the water heater doesnât work properly and had to be reset every 2 minutes when showering.
This was a great 2BR and 2 bath apartment in a fantastic location. We loved the bakery right on the corner and they had the best pastries we had on our entire trip. The gelato place a half block away was also our favorite and we ate there a lot.The Louvre, Orsay, Orangerie, Notre Dame, and Saint Chappel were a very easy walk from here as well as restaurants in the Le Marais area. I gave 4 stars only because we barely had hot water for showers despite resetting the boiler multiple times. Two people showering at once is always cold showers and even the first person showering had maybe 2 min of hot water before it turned cold. A lot of the doors were noisy as well so it was hard to be quiet if getting up early or using the bathroom in the night. WD-40 would help a lot! The place is older and there are a lot of uneven spots or holes in the flooring so this probably wouldnât be good for someone with mobility issues. It was nice having a washer and dryer combo as well as WiFi and a TV. We were able to use our Fire Stick and stream shows very easily. The hosts provided ample pillows, towels, and bedding and we appreciated not having to request extra. The hosts were very responsive and our check in and check out process were easy. It was a wonderful location and overall very quiet and peaceful to relax after a busy day in the city.
Everything about the stay was wonderful, other than one detail that was disappointing. The location was amazing...2 minute walk to Notre Dame and convenient to everything. The street was also quiet with what we think was a police office nearby. Also, lots of restaurants right outside our doorstep (but not so close that they were noisy). Master bedroom was large and second bedroom would be great for kids or two adults without much luggage. It's not completely private, though, as the door has a window with a lace curtain. Kitchen had what we needed and a full-size fridge, although we didn't use the kitchen much. The clothes washer/dryer took some getting used to...it takes a long time to run the wash & dry cycle, and we often had to add more drying time. The check in person explained this to us, and we made it work. But if you aren't in a situation where you can manage this, just be prepared for cold showers. When you use the hot water, the water heater will turn off about every 3 minutes and someone has to manually reset it. So you need someone standing by when you take a shower and you need to be ready to get out of the way while the cold water is coming out. There is one AC unit in the living room, but it worked well to cool the apartment even in late July. Overall, this was a great place to stay during our days in Paris.
Check-in was timely and helpful. Kitchen adequate. Flooring in kitchen in need of repair and some furniture in disrepair and beyond retirement. A good cleaning would definitely brighten the experience and ambiance. Even so, location and historical setting couldnât be better!
We had an excellent stay, a home away from home. Everyone was so helpful and available for any answers, and made great suggestions and helpful suggestions. Merci!!
This was a wonderful property in a great location just around the corner from Notre Dame Cathedral. The neighborhood was cute and quiet and safe. It was convenient for getting to several metro and RER stations. We loved the little coffee shop down the street where we enjoyed crepes, croissants, and cappuccino. There is an amazing gelato place around the corner, and lots of shopping and restaurants nearby. The apartment was very comfortable and quiet and we slept very well. It was a bit warm when we arrived, but they brought us some fans and that made it much better. There is an A/C unit in the main room, and we used fans in our bedrooms. It was nice to have the washer/dryer to do laundry. The hot water is limited, so we learned to take quick showers before the water got cold. This was a great experience and David was a wonderful host. I would highly recommend this place!
We loved almost everything about this cozy apartment steps from Notre Dame. The only complaint was the water heater wasnât working properly requiring a restart after about 3 minutes in the shower. Dave was very responsive and made some helpful suggestions
This apartment is in the heart of Paris. The location canât be beat. It is an off beat apartment in some ways but having two bedrooms and two baths worked so well for us. We enjoyed the neighborhood, especially the various cafes. We recommend this apartment primarily for its location.
26 rue Chanoinesse was perfect for us, very convenient to everything we wanted to do. Doubly secure and very peaceful in the heart of the busiest part of Paris. Thank you for your hospitality.
Great location with many restaurants extremely close to Notre Dame. Basic necessities included perfect for a small family or 2 couples. Felt like we were back in another time
The area was central in Paris. Easily walkable to the metro about 75 yards. I felt safe in the location and the home. The accommodations are not five star hotel with a cleaner but it is exactly a home. The washer/dryer was great to decrease luggage size and TWO bathrooms really helped cut down time in the mornings to leave for the Paris experience. I have already started to make plans to stay in this VRBO again.
This is such a great place to stay if you want to be central in Paris and to feel old world charm. Plenty of food options right around the corner. Easy to get everywhere via metro, walking or Uber. Hearing the bells of Notre Dame right from the apartment is just so special. Perfect size for a family of 4. Nothing fancy but everything you need. Old world, authentic atmosphere and charm. Would happily stay again.
Apartment was in a great location but in sad condition. David our greeter tried hard. Doorknobs were all falling off, rugs were shredded, washing machine/dryer finally worked after much trouble. People using the same entrance came and went at odd hours of night, and doors always slammed shut! Workers arrived to renovate nearby apts and started early talking right outside our windowâŠ..NOT a quiet stay
Perfect location within walking distance of Notre Dame and Sainte Chapelle. One feels in the heart of Paris. The weather was very cold but the apartment cozy and warm to come home to. A fabulous bistro right next door. Highly recommend.
The location of the apartment was perfect for us and what we had planned to do each day.
Unfortunately, there is construction work being done on the building and the scaffolding is literally right outside the front door. Between people stomping up the stairs at 1am and workers starting construction at 7:30 am, it was not always peaceful nights. However, that is not something the landlord can control.
The Ile de la Cite is a really great place to stay - just steps from Notre Dame and lots of restaurants. The metro is nearby, and it's easy to get to loads of sights. The apartment is warm (it was snowy while we were there, so good heating was important!) and has good Wifi. We had a couple of issues, but they were quickly sorted out.
Pluses: Location is fantastic! Very close to public transportation. We ate at the two restaurants next door and two other restaurants less than a 5 min walk away-highly recommend them all!! Felt very safe in and around the apt.
Cons:
The space is worn, the linens/pillows and towels are very worn. The apt can be quite noisy from other residents coming and going. It is not good for anyone with mobility issues.
Would we stay again? Yes
